Work Text:
The classroom was still and filled with dead silence as Khun tried to make sense of what Baam had said to him.
"Did you just say that water is dry?"
Ever since the start of their after-school tutoring sessions, Baam had a goal to catch Khun off guard, but he did not expect to achieve that in this way. Baam savored the baffled look on Khun's face, it wasn't often that he got to see the suave top student look confused.
Baam simply hummed to express confirmation of his claim, not bothering to smooth down the wrinkles between Khun's eyebrows. He playfully smiled at the bluenette and said, "What topics should we cover next?", diverting his eyes to land on his notes to continue writing on them.
Khun's expression changed from confused to annoyed as if thinking in his head how Baam, an airhead, could make such a stupid claim.
"Shouldn't you at least explain why you think so?" Khun did not drop the topic (as Baam expected him to do), fully intending to rebut whatever evidence Baam was going to spew.
"Ah, are we switching the roles? I thought you were supposed to be the one teaching me," Baam huffed out a little laugh and put down his pen, though he was not writing anything significant. He faced Khun and rested his head on his wrist.
Khun's posture was as straight as ever, "I believe it is more engaging in that way, you learn from me, and I get to hear whatever is going on inside your head."
Baam collected all his might to convince Khun with his supporting statement, "If wetness is just a sensory perception of liquid interacting with skin, then water isn't inherently wet—it's just a trigger for the feeling."
The look of interest can be seen in Khun's eyes, never having thought of that ever, however, he still stands strong with his counterclaim.
"If you put your hand in the water, it gets wet instantly. The same happens when water touches any other object. This means water is in a constant state of being wet--," Thus, the yapping session Khun began, and a confident tone barely hiding in his words
Baam did not stop him. Something was enticing about Khun's voice. It sounded silky and comforting, articulating his words well made Baam's heart beat a little bit faster. He never gets tired of listening to what Khun has to say, if he could, he would make Khun's voice an audiobook narrator for all the school books that he owns. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Baam might learn better that way.
"When water contacts a surface, it forms a bond with that material through adhesion. This bond allows water to spread and coat objects, making them wet. If water weren’t wet, this bond-"
Khun's words were getting farther and farther from Baam's listening comprehension. The term bond made Baam absentmindedly think, "I wonder if Khun thinks he and I have a bond."
His train of thought was broken when Khun impatiently tapped his Baam's shoulder, "Are you even listening?" Khun almost ended up with a pout which Baam badly wanted to see, until a thought crossed the bluenette's mind, "Or perhaps you are thinking that I am right," he said smugly, crossing his arms proudly.
Baam was well known for being straightforward, "Nah, I was just thinking if you were feeling the bond between us or if it was just me. I would feel sad if it was the latter, Khun."
Dead silence was filling up the room again, however, instead of a confused Khun, a flustered Khun was beside Baam. The air filled with electronic excitement, waiting for the events to unfold.
Khun cleared his throat, "We have been straying off the topic for a while now, we should finish before it gets dark out," he said as he avoided Baam's eyes, embarrassed about his blushing face.
But Baam was nowhere near done teasing Khun, "You mentioned something about adhesion right?" Baam moves closer to Khun as if saying a secret that is only meant for the two of them to hear, "I think what you said was correct Khun because like water’s adhesion, I just can’t help but stick to you."
The line was draped with corniness, but it made Khun even more embarrassed nonetheless. Hiding his face behind his hands, he attempted to fight back Baam's pick up lines.
"No one is getting swept off their feet with your cheesiness, Baam."
Up until now, Baam did not know that ears could turn that red, but the evidence was right in front of him, "This isn't meant for anyone Khun, just you," he kissed the hands that were covering Khun's face.
Khun was running out of comments to throw at Baam and just weakly asked the questions that had been floating in his head ever since Baam was doing whatever to Khun.
"Remind me why you are doing this to me?" His hands still covering his face.
"Like how you believe water being wet is an obvious fact, shouldn't my feelings appear the same way to you?"
The bluenette stayed silent, his heart matching the rhythm of the man in front of him. In the silence, their heartbeats seemed like whimsical music that matched the situation that they were in.
"Khun, look at me," he gently pulled Khun's hands apart which revealed how Khun was reacting to everything that Baam said, all red and sweat was forming at his forehead from the emotions that Baam had put him in. Baam wanted to take a picture but he decided to do that next time.
Baam let out a chuckle and decided that it was time to stop his teasing after this last move up his sleeve. He kissed Khun's cheek ever so lightly and immediately started to pack his belongings, "Looking forward for tomorrow," he grinned at Khun.
What Khun does not know is how Baam's ears are red when he goes outside the classroom and how he wishes to have kissed more than Khun's cheek.
