It was a cold, rany night when suddenly, there was a knock on the door. James looked around for a second, left his book with his wand as a bookmark and got up. With long and heavy steps he made his way and opened the door. The cold autumm breeze hit him, making him feel chilly. He looked around until he saw a tall hooded figure in front. He looked completely unbothered by the rain. James felt like something was strangely off about this creature, almost like he didn't have a soul. A feeling of unease crept up his spine. The man raised his arm, a cold pale hand showing underneath the cloak. This hand lifted a bone-like wand. A bright green light shot out of it, hitting James straight in the chest, unable to defend himself as his wand was on the couch. Seconds after, James was no longer breathing.
Lily, who was taking care of their son, Harry, saw the green light from downstairs and immediately knew what it meant. She had seen it multiple times already, some of them aimed at their friends. It was horrible. It was the killing curse. She quickly went to confort her child, holding him close to her chest.
"Shh, Harry luv, it's ok, don't cry. Mama's here. Everything's a'right." She said, herself at the edge of tears. But she had to stay strong for her one and only son. Harry was crying either way. His mother's words meant no confort. Even at his own age, he had begun to understand what was going to happen, what was happening.
Lily could hear the sound of two heavy boots coming up the stairs. Just as she saw that horrible hooded creature appear, she stood up and positioned herself between the hooded creature and her son. She shakily raised her wand. All of her effort was in vain. She let out a shrieking cry as that same green light reunited her with her husband. Without even knowing it, she had cast an extremely powerful spell over the toddler which was formed by ties much more stronger than any magic, even dark magic, could make.
Orphan Harry will grow up away from this world of magic, amazing creatures but also very dark-minded, evil people. He won't know of the existence of magic, real magic, until he will attend Hogwarts.
