“You didn't tell me you could breathe fire,” Ballister said hesitantly.
Nimona's shoulders dropped. She wanted to be angry. At herself for letting her defenses down like that, and at him for making her think she could trust him. It didn't come. Instead, she was overcome with a grim acceptance. She should have known better. They were all the same, the lot of them.
“Oh…” was all that came out. It was barely more than a whisper.
She had not a drop of fight left in her.
“Hm,” Ballister said with a faint smile. “Metal. Best two out of three?”
