- Set Post Season 6.

Notes:

I have omitted two character names because they will give away the Mystery part of the story. I am Canadian so a Toque is the equivalent of what the American's call a 'Beanie' I think.

This story was created for a dear friend of mine, and I hope you and everyone else enjoys this story as much as I had writing it.

Happy Reading!

Chapter 1: The Cabin

Chapter Text

Several months after they had saved National City from Lex and Nxyly, they decided to rent a cabin for a weekend in December to get away from the craziness of the city. They had been helping tirelessly to help rebuild the city, and decided that it was time for a break. Or more like Kara was being forced to take a break by Lena and Alex.

“Kara, you need this. Take the weekend, or the week, go off to the cabin that Lena found and forget about saving people for a little while,” J’onn patted her on the back. “We’ve got this.”

Brainy walked over to where they were standing in the tower, “By my calculations, there is a 99.9% chance that we will be fine. With J’onn, M’gann, Nia and myself, we can keep the city safe.”

J’onn looked to Brainy, “What is the .1%, why not just say 100%?”

“Well you never know-” Brainy started but Kara started speaking.

“But what if someone needs me-”

“No, Kara, you need a break,” Nia walked into the conversation. “Every time I try to go and save someone, you’ve already done it. There’s even the fact that you had a huge part in rebuilding the DEO, and even assisted Lena with the foundation. You need a break. Go have fun with Esme in the snow at the cabin Lena rented.”

Kara sighed, “Fine, but if you need my help, you’ll let me know right?”

J’onn shook his head, “No. We can handle it. Now go.”

Kara huffed, before she flew off towards her own apartment to gather some belongings in a suitcase, before flying to Alex’s home.

After going to her apartment and packing a bag with clothing and essentials, she flew off to Alex’s home dressed in a winter jacket, toque and mitts, even though she didn’t need them. She landed on Alex’s balcony, before walking in, only to find Esme stuffing stuffed animals into a suitcase, Kelly cleaning up and Alex writing on a list. “Hey, so I’m being ordered to the cabin, how can I help?”

Alex looked up, “Oh hey, J’onn finally convinced you huh?”

Kara nodded, “Yeah, I fought hard, but alas.”

“Auntie Kara!” Esme came running over, and wrapped her arms around Kara as she knelt down to pick her up. “Are you coming to the cabin with us?”

Kara nodded, “I am. Did you want to fly over with me? Beat your moms there.”

Esme’s eyes lit up, “Yeah! We could explore before everyone gets there.” Esme turned to Alex, “Mom, can I go with Auntie Kara?”

“Sure, will you be taking Lena there too, or is she going to come with Kelly and I?” Alex asked, not certain what the plan was there.

“I actually don’t know,” Kara answered honestly.

“Oh, well you can ask her. She’s supposed to be meeting us here at some point since we’re taking my vehicle to get there,” Alex answered. “Which, Esme, did you actually pack clothes into your suitcase?”

“Yes…” Esme answered with uncertainty.

Kelly laughed as she put the last dish in the cabinet, “Come on Esme, let’s go make sure you have everything packed.” She watched Kara put Esme down and then walked with her into the bedroom.

“So… Are you going to tell me what’s going on with you and Lena?” Alex asked as Kara walked over to where she was standing.

Kara stood at the end of the island, “What do you mean? Nothing’s going on with Lena and I.”

Alex looked at her confused, “So Lena just decided to rent a cabin because she felt like it?”

It was Kara’s turn to look confused, “Um, yeah, that’s what she said to me. She wanted a way to escape from everything.”

“Hm… That’s not what she told me. She specifically wanted a place for you to relax,” Alex pointed out. “Plus with how much time you two have been spending together recently, I thought maybe you two finally admitted your feelings-”

“Alex no-” Kara stopped Alex quickly looking toward the bedroom but could hear Kelly and Esme laughing. “Lena and I are just friends.”

Alex laughed, “Okay, if you say so, but you’re just kidding yourself if you believe that.”

“She’s right, there’s something going on between the two of you,” Kelly said walking back into the kitchen. “Alex, I told Esme to pick two stuffed animals.”

“Well I think the two of you need to get your eyes checked because there is nothing going on between--” Kara stopped talking and looked towards the door. “Lena’s here.”

Alex and Kelly burst out laughing.

A knock could be heard a second later, and Kara was opening the door, “Lena, hey.”

“Kara, what are you doing here? I thought you’d be at the tower trying to find a way to stay,” Lena said walking into the apartment with her luggage.

“She was ordered to go on this trip,” Alex butted into the conversation, “Kara was going to fly Esme there, did you want to go with them?”

“Oh… Um, sure. I do have the key to the cabin, so I suppose that would make the most sense,” Lena answered honestly, looking from Alex to Kara was looking a little sheepish for some reason.

“Lena!!” Esme shouted running into the room, tackling Lena’s legs. “Will you be coming with me and Kara?”

“Kara and I, but yes,” Lena answered, looking from Esme to Kara. “Is that okay with you Kara?”

Kara nodded, “Yeah, sure, I’m okay with this plan. Did you want to leave now? Or wait?”

“Kara, as long as you put yours and Lena’s bags into the Escalade, then the three of you can fly to the cabin,” Alex pointed to the suitcases.

Kara looked down at Esme, “Do you have everything packed?”

Esme nodded, “Yes. Can we go now?”

“You need to get into your snowsuit first,” Kara pointed out, before looking at Lena, “Are you going to be warm enough without a toque?”

Alex leaned into Kelly and whispered, “Those two have it bad. How long do you think before they get together? One day? Two?”

“With what I’m watching right now, I bet by tomorrow,” Kelly whispered back.

“I’ll take that bet, I say by the end of the day,” Alex answered, and they shook on it, before she walked over to help Esme get into her snowsuit.

Once Esme was in her snowsuit, Kara and Lena took some of the bags and put them in Alex’s vehicle, before they launched into the sky.

As soon as they landed, Esme’s eyes lit up in excitement, “Auntie Kara, this is where we are staying?” Esme who was all dressed up in a snowsuit said trying to make her way up the driveway slowly but surely.

Kara looked from Esme to Lena, “Wow, you really outdid yourself with this one. This looks beautiful,” She was in awe of the place just as much as Esme was.

“Yes, I thought we could use a real break so I splurged a little,” Lena smiled, feeling accomplished for making the right choice. She had on a jacket, a scarf and leather gloves. “Shall we head in, or try to catch up with Esme, that is?” She asked, looking at Kara.

“Yes, she’ll be shouting for one of us here in a minute, if we don’t start moving,” Kara agreed, as she started walking up the driveway with Lena behind her.

Lena started to follow Kara, and while she had gotten some hiking boots for this trip it would seem that she wasn’t used to walking on so much ice. Without fail, Lena stepped on the wrong patch of ground, and felt herself start to fall, but before she hit the ground, strong arms wrapped around her.

“Whoa, Lena, are you okay--” Kara caught Lena and was looking at her for a moment before she stepped on the same ice, and before she knew it “Oh no! Oof.” She immediately fell herself but had turned in the fall so that she landed on the ice covered cement on her back, and Lena landed on top of her. “Whoops,” She burst out laughing as soon as she landed on the ground. She looked up at Lena, her hands still on the sides of Lena’s arms, “Are you okay?”

Lena looked down at Kara, “Am I okay? Are you okay?”

Kara couldn’t stop laughing, “Yeah, I’m okay. I forgot what it’s like being on ice.”

“Auntie Kara, Auntie Lena, what are you doing laying on the ground? I want to go inside the cabin.” Esme asked from the sidewalk up the driveway.

Kara tilted her head to the side to look in the direction of Esme, “Esme, we’ll be right there.” She shouted to the little girl who turned on her feet and went back towards the door. Kara turned her head back to look up at Lena, “I know that I run warm but we have to get up at some point.”

“Right, yes,” Lena was shaken from her brief moment of getting lost in Kara’s eyes. She moved to get off of Kara and then slowly stood back up, careful not to fall again.

Kara did the same, before she held out a hand to Lena, “Here, this way, we can help each other not to fall going up the driveway.”

Lena took Kara’s hand and they slowly walked up the driveway to the cabin. Once to the door, she used the key that was given to her and they entered.

“Can I go explore?” Esme asked, as she was taking off all of her snow gear.

Lena nodded, “Yes, Esme. Just call for Kara if you need any help, and I’m sure she’ll hear you.” She looked over at Kara knowing that while Kara’s supposed to be taking it easy, she would still be listening for little Esme. Lena started taking off her coat, and putting it in the nearby closet.

Kara looked to Lena, “Did you need me to go get some groceries, before it gets dark?”

Lena shook her head, “No, I made an order before we arrived, and the service advised me that they would stock the fridge.”

“Wow,” Kara was shocked, as she pulled off her jacket and hung it up in the closet as well. Just as she was about to follow Lena, she turned her head as if listening. She laughed, “Esme has found something. She wants us to go see.”

Lena chuckled, “Well, lead the way.”

Kara walked towards the stairs with Lena in tow, and after ascending the stairs she walked down a hallway and found the little girl in a room. “Esme, what is it?”

“Is this my room?” Esme asked, excited at all the things in the room. It had a bunk bed, and a little table on the side, with all kinds of toys everywhere.

Lena grinned at the excitement on Esme’s face, “Yes Esme, this is your room.”

Esme jumped up onto her feet and tackled Lena’s legs hugging them, “Thank you, thank you. I’m going to sit in here and play.”

“Okay Esme, Kara and I will either be downstairs or out in the backyard. Just make sure you put on proper clothing before going outside, okay?” Lena asked, making sure the little girl understood.

“Okay,” Esme said, barely paying attention.

Lena and Kara turned back around and headed back into the hallway, and partway down the hallway, Kara stopped her.

“Lena, why does that room have so many toys in it?” Kara asked, confused now, “You did just rent this cabin right?”

Lena looked at her a little guilty, “I actually bought it.”

“You did what?!” Kara asked, shocked, feeling like she did years ago when Lena had bought Catco.

“When I was looking for cabins to rent, I realized that if we all had a place we could go and relax at, we might do that more,” Lena explained her reasoning. “I know I probably should have asked the team first, but then it would have delayed the trip so I just did it.”

“Was it expensive?” Kara asked as she followed Lena down the stairs, “You know Alex is going to ask to reimburse you for some of it.”

“Well, I’m not sure…” Lena answered honestly, walking into the kitchen with Kara. “I did some research on cabins, and while most cabins that are in the woods appeared more expensive this one was unusually less expensive. I couldn’t figure out why that was, but since it was so cut off from other life, I thought it was the best one to have purely for the privacy aspect. Then again, this is the first cabin I’ve bought so, maybe I was looking too hard into something that wasn’t there.”

Kara walked over and sat on one of the stools, “Hm… Maybe, or maybe it’s been on the market for a long time.”

Lena stood across from Kara in front of the island, “That could be the case, but why was it on the market so long? That's my question.”

“Hmm.. Well, it’s a good thing you have a reporter for a best friend. Let me look into it,” Kara suggested, standing up, realizing she didn’t have a notepad, or her laptop. “Or, maybe I’ll do that once Alex gets here with all of our things.”

Lena shook her head, “No Kara, you’re supposed to be on vacation.”

Kara sat back down, “Good point. Maybe I’ll go explore the area. I’m going to go see if Esme would like to join, did you want to come along?”

Lena nodded, “Sure, as long as we are walking and not flying.”

Kara laughed, “I will promise I won’t fly you around. Esme on the other hand…” She walked towards the stairs to ask the little girl.

Lena was left in the kitchen with her thoughts, and for a brief moment she couldn’t help but to like the idea of this kind of life. A life with Kara, and a kid playing upstairs. She wasn’t certain if Kara may or may not feel the same for her, but the idea of this life was tempting. With Esme in her life, it meant that there would be days where she would be able to get stuck in her little fantasy, and today was that day. At least until the rest arrived a few hours from now.

“Lena! Are you coming?!” Kara shouted from the front entrance.

“Yes, I’m coming,” Lena smiled at the thoughtfulness of Kara to include her when she knew that Kara and Esme could utilize Kara’s powers and explore at whatever speed they wanted too.

As they stepped outside, Lena walked into the garage, and pulled out a plastic sled with a rope on it to pull, “Esme did you want to bring this with us?”

Esme’s eyes lit up again, “Yes. Auntie Kara, can you pull me in it?”

Kara laughed, “Yes, I can pull you in it.”

Esme pumped her fist in excitement before she positioned the sled on the ground, and sat down at the back, “Okay, I’m ready,” She kicked her feet excitedly.

XXXXXXXX

For the first several minutes, they walked side by side in a comfortable silence. The only sounds that could be heard were the sounds in the woods, and Esme humming behind them.

“Is this the first time you’ve taken a real break, Kara?” Lena asked, looking at Kara briefly before looking back ahead to make sure she didn't fall again.

Kara shrugged, “Well, depends what you mean by that because prior to me becoming Supergirl, I wasn’t doing any saving. After becoming Supergirl though, this is the first chosen break, yes. I think it’ll still be tough to fully relax but I will try. If I hear someone in danger, I don’t know if I’ll be able to leave it alone.”

“That’s understandable, even if the others said they would take care of it,” Lena pointed out, but she understood too. It was hard for her to break free from her foundation. She’d be lying if she didn’t bring her work laptop with her just in case someone needs something.

“What about you? Did you actually leave your work at home?” Kara asked, as she felt the sled slide into the back of heels for a moment, and she looked back at the little girl for a second, before looking back at Lena.

“Whoops,” Esme smiled.

Lena laughed, “We are quite the pair.”

“We care too much. That’s the issue,” Kara pointed out looking over at Lena. “Sometimes I wish I could just disconnect but it’s difficult when without realizing it, something will catch my hearing and that’s it. But I mean, there are benefits to the powers I have too, because I can pull Esme and not feel winded.”

“Even so, why don’t we make a pact that we try to disconnect from our work, and just try to relax,” Lena suggested.

Kara nodded, “Deal. I will try to ignore the sounds I hear, and you don’t open your laptop.” That’s when she noticed the path coming to an end. “Wow, this could be a pretty nice hill to sled--” She felt the snow beneath her give way, and she lost her footing.

Lena reached out to grab her, and while she did, it didn’t stop Kara from pulling Lena down with her.

Kara let go of the rope for the sled and they rolled down the hill together, over and over until they finally got to the bottom, and Kara lay on the snow, “So I guess the snow was deeper than I thought and masked the hill,” She started laughing, and looked over at Lena, “Are you okay?”

“I think so,” Lena looked up to where Esme was sitting on the sled at the top. “Are you okay, Esme?”

“Yes. Are you okay?” Esme shouted.

Kara looked up at the kid, “You can come down on the sled if you want.” She waved for the little girl to come down the hill. To which she did and giggled the whole way down.

Lena stood up brushing snow off her jacket, and pants, until snow went down her back, “Oh.. cold cold.”

Kara stood up and without question, took her mitt off and scooped out the snow that had fallen between Lena’s neck and jacket. “Sorry about that. You should have just let me fall. Now you’re going to catch a cold.”

Esme goes skidding next to Kara, and stops a distance behind, “Weeee!!”

“Old habits die hard, I guess,” Lena pointed out, remembering all the times she ‘saved’ Kara in their friendship prior to her learning the truth.

“Well here,” Kara took off her knitted white toque, and put it on Lena’s head, “You should wear this. Not only is it warm but after getting all that snow on your head, you’re going to get sick if you don’t.”

Lena felt her cheeks warm at the simple gesture, and while initially she was going to protest, as soon as the warm toque was on her head, she couldn’t bring herself to say anything. Not only that but the toque smelled like Kara too. “Thanks,” was all she could muster.

“And actually, you should probably take my coat too,” Kara unzipped her jacket to give to Lena.

“But what about you? Aren't you going to get cold?” Lena asked without thinking, as Kara was reaching around Lena, to put her jacket around Lena’s shoulders.

Kara shrugged, “I’m only wearing these because I don’t need people looking at me wondering why I don’t have the usual clothing on.”

Lena put her arms into Kara’s jacket over her own, that was warm for walking in this weather, but wasn’t built for rolling in snow. She was getting warmer by the second and it wasn’t from the jacket, or the gesture of Kara giving her the clothes off her back, but it was those pesky feelings she’d been stuffing into a box at the back of her mind.

“There, does that feel better,” Kara asked, standing in winter boots, winter gloves, jeans and a blue sweater.

Lena laughed at how ridiculous Kara looked, and before she knew what she was doing, she leaned forward, to place a kiss on Kara’s cheek, but she turned at the last second and their lips met. She pulled back, afraid she’d just made a huge error, “I- I’m-”

“It’s.. it was my fault. Uh.. Maybe we should go see what Esme is doing,” Kara pointed out that Esme had zipped past them a few moments ago. She was blushing. Her cheeks felt warmer than usual and while she probably could use the cold as an excuse, she’s not sure Lena would believe her after everything she just said about the cold not affecting her.

“You know Kara, if it’s alright with you, maybe we could go back to the house, I should probably figure out what to cook, and like you said, I don’t want to get sick,” Lena suggested, feeling like she had crossed a line just then. She hadn’t meant to but Kara was just being so caring about her well being.

Kara nodded, “Sure, if that’s what you want.”

“It is,” Lena looked past Kara, and noticed Esme walking over. “Did you want to go back to the house for a little bit?”

Esme nodded, “Yeah, it’s a little cold out here.”

With that Kara held onto both Lena and Esme, and the sled, and launched into the sky back to the cabin.

Once back, Lena handed Kara her coat and toque before heading into the home.

Kara turned to Esme, “Do you want to see if we can make an igloo, or a fort for when your moms get here?”

Esme’s eyes lit up again, “Yeah.”

Kara was going to make a note to talk to Lena later that day about what just happened because she definitely wanted to have a conversation now. She thought that Alex and Kelly were joking earlier, but now she’s starting to see it.

XXXXXXXX

A couple hours later, Alex was driving up the driveway with Kelly in the passenger seat. It was a government issued black escalade that she decided to bring because it had more space than if they would have rented. She didn’t think the DEO would mind anyways.

Alex stepped out of the vehicle to look at the house, “Are you sure we’re at the right place?” She looked back inside at Kelly.

Kelly nodded, “Yup, this is the address that Lena had given me.”

“I don’t know, this seems a little big for a weekend tr--” Alex was cut off when a snowball hit her back. She could see Kelly holding back a laugh in the passenger seat, as she pointed in the direction of where it came from.

“Oh no…” Kara’s eyes opened wide standing next to Esme. “Esme, you should be more careful next time!” She purposely said too loudly for Alex to hear.

“Auntie! I didn’t throw it, you did,” Esme threw the snow in her hands at Kara to make her point.

Alex slowly turned around, “Really? We haven’t even unpacked.”

Kara gave a sheepish smile, “So…”

“Sooo… You’re teaching my daughter bad behavior,” Alex argued, closing the door to the vehicle.

Kara burst out laughing, “It’s not bad behaviour if you’re the winner at a snowball fight right Esme?”

Esme nodded, “Right.” She picked up more snow in her gloves and was having some difficulty making a snowball, until Kara handed her one. “Thanks.”

Kara looked to Esme, “Should we get her?”

“Yeah,” Esme grinned looking back at her mom standing by the vehicle.

“Wait… This isn’t fair, I’m not ready…” Alex watched as her sister and daughter started charging in her direction, which caused her to run off from the vehicle and towards the other side of the snowbank for some snow. Snowballs flying everywhere.

Kelly picked up her things, before she stepped out of the vehicle, “Will you be bringing the bags in?” She asked the group running in the yard.

“Yes, Alex will get them,” Kara shouted as she threw another snowball at Alex.

“Are you kidding, Kara,” Alex shouted. She turned to Kelly, “We will get them into the house.” She said just as another ball hit her side. “Timeout!” The balls stop flying, “Let’s get the bags in first then continue.”

“Okay,” Kara disappeared in a flash, and was back before anyone knew what happened. “All done. They are in the house.”

“Really? You are so sure you’re going to win?” Alex asked, surprised Kara just did that.

“Yes, I am,” Kara said smugly.

“You’re so on,” Alex said before chasing after Kara, and Esme.

Kelly walked past the epic snowball fight going on with Kara, Esme and Alex, as she walked into the house. “Wow…” and sure enough all of their bags were in the entryway now.

Lena walked out from the kitchen, “Oh, you made it. I was about to send Kara out to see if you all might have gotten stuck or something.”

Kelly shook her head, “No, Alex didn’t think the instructions you gave were correct so she kept driving the wrong way.”

“I should have known that was going to happen. Where is Alex anyways?” Lena looked past Kelly expecting to see Alex.

“She was caught by Kara and Esme outside, so after Kara brought the suitcases in, they went back to chasing each other around out there,” Kelly explained.

Lena chuckled, “Oh, so that’s what they are doing now. Of course, Alex would get caught in the crossfire. They were building a fort earlier.” She said as she rubbed her right shoulder.

“Are you okay?” Kelly asked, pointing to the shoulder.

Lena nodded, “Yes, I think I pulled something when I fell on the driveway when we got here.”

“The driveway did look slick,” Kelly agreed. “Where can I put my things?”

“There is a room upstairs for Esme, but after that, you can choose any of the rooms,” Lena answered.

“You or Kara haven’t claimed any,” Kelly asked, pointing in the direction of the stairs.

Lena shook her head, “No, too busy doing food prep while Kara and Esme have been outside.”

Kelly nodded, “Makes sense. Did you need any help?”

“Sure,” Lena handed Kelly a spoon to help stir some sauce.

XXXXXXXXX

Kara was laying on the ground with Alex holding her down and Esme throwing snow on her, “I yield, I yield.” She was only just able to get out as snow piled on her head.

Alex turned to Esme, “See, I knew we could take her.”

“Yeah!” Esme squealed, giving her mom a high five.

“Traitor,” Kara said, wiping the snow off her face. “We could have done great things.”

“Next time Auntie, next time,” Esme laughed, running off towards the house.

Alex stood up, putting her hand out to help Kara get up, “You know Esme really looks up to you.”

“Yeah, she’s a good kid,” Kara agreed. “You’re a really great mom too though, Alex.”

“I do my best, I’m just glad that everyone around us is so willing to help,” Alex pointed out. “Even you.”

Kara grinned at the compliment as she and Alex walked into the house, the only luggage left in the entryway was hers. Lena was coming down the stairs just as they were coming in.

“Kara, did you even try to get the snow off of you before walking in here?” Lena pointed to the still open door.

Kara looked surprised, “Yes…” She tried to look around at the other snow but couldn’t see it. “Is there more?”

“Step back outside,” Lena ordered, and Kara followed suit, Lena following her. As soon as they were back on the front porch, Lena wiped off all the snow that had compiled on the hood of her coat and all of it that had stuck to her jacket. “There, that’s better.”

“Thanks, Lena,” Kara laughed. “In my defense, Esme and Alex were piling snow on me.”

“Of course they were,” Lena laughed, “Here let me help with your jacket so we can shake it out here.”

Kara unzipped it, and Lena helped her pull it off before she shook it, getting the remainder of the snow off, “Good idea. I didn’t realize how much snow I actually got on my jacket. Let’s go back in, after earlier, I don’t think you need to be out here longer than is necessary.”

Lena felt a shiver as a wind came up just before turning to walk into the house again, “Good idea. Why don’t you take your bag up, we’re about to have dinner.”

Kara nodded, picking up her bag and taking it up to one of the rooms, before walking back downstairs.

XXXXXXXX

After dinner, Lena was sitting on a couch near a lit fireplace drinking some tea reading a book. Esme had been taken to bed about an hour after dinner, and Alex and Kelly were downstairs watching a movie.

Kara rounded the corner to find Lena, “Oh, there you are, I was going to head to bed, did you need anything before I go?”

“Did Esme tire you out?” Lena asked, curious as to why Kara was going to sleep so early.

Kara nodded, “That and prior to leaving, I was flying all over the place helping people in National City.”

“I don’t need anything. I’m going to finish a few more chapters, and then I was going to go to bed as well,” Lena answered Kara’s initial question.

“Okay, sounds good. Well let me know if you need anything,” Kara said, before slowly walking up to bed.

XXXXXXX

A couple hours went by, and Lena watched Kelly and Alex go up to bed, before she too went to go to sleep. After the day she had, she wanted to relax with her book, and ended up getting into it a little too much and before she knew it, it was nearly midnight.

As she walked past Esme’s bedroom, she peaked in to see the little girl sound asleep with all the stuffed animals on the bed. Lena smiled at the look of the little girl, before she quietly shut the door, and walked past two bedrooms, before getting to the master bedroom that she had claimed for herself.

She flipped on the light, and immediately someone shot up from the bed.

“What’s going on? Is there an emergency? Do you need me?”

“Kara? What are you doing here?” Lena asked, realizing it was Kara in the bed.

Kara was half-asleep, “What? Oh, is this your room? I can sleep elsewhere. Go to the couch, if you’d rather.” She said with her eyes half open in the blinding light.

Lena shook her head, “It’s fine Kara. We’re two grown adults, I think we can manage sleeping in the same bed for tonight. Go back to sleep.”

“Okay…” Kara’s eyes were barely open during the interaction. “I will get the article to you in the morning.” She said as she laid back down on the bed, and fell back asleep.

Lena chuckled at Kara’s sleep antics. She was pretty sure Kara wasn’t going to remember this conversation in the morning. So she went back to getting ready for bed, before she slipped onto the other side, and went to sleep.

She was certain she could do this. What could go wrong? She and Kara only shared an accidental kiss earlier in the day. They could share a bed.

Right?
