This was a lesson to be learned.
Elphaba's head fell to Galinda's shoulders, the alcohol already in her sobriety's stead. She had only drank one pint of wine.
This was partially because of Fiyero's brilliant idea to drag Shiz students to the Ozdust, again. Elphaba and all her curiosity doused her into taking a sip of wine, which later turned out to be more than that.
There were only the two of them in this booth. Galinda was not in the slightest bit tipsy, yet—her tolerance seemed to be less flimsy than Elphaba's—but of course she had to deal with her girlfriend's drunken pursuits, which Galinda had not even expected to come out of her solemn disposition. Galinda had made a joke (which she thinks it's unfunny, truthfully. Had she been drunk, she'd be funnier) that somehow made Elphaba chime a laugh, audible enough to sound louder than the crowd surrounding them.
"Oh, Galinda, you're so funny," Elphaba said with a sultry cadence, looking up at Galinda as she tangled her fingers with the blonde's.
Galinda wonders if Elphaba notices that her palm is sweating—this was way out of whatever expectancies she had, not that she wanted to lament, no, she certainly enjoyed this. She felt her cheeks burn when Elphaba's nails gently scratched her hand, almost seductively. "Why thank you, Miss Elphaba. I am very flattered," she joked as she theatrically palmed her chest, attempting to veil her agitation.
"We should have kids," Elphaba professed bluntly. Her breath grew warm against Galinda's ear.
"Wh–"
Galinda could feel her brain halt to process the words she ought to say—Elphaba's words were more intoxicating than what an alcohol can do to her system, she felt partially drunk in a way. Her heart decided to make itself known just now, pumping so much blood she could feel her cheeks burn once again. This was truly out of her expectations.
Elphaba leaned closer to Galinda's face, their lips almost touching. "I want to have your b–"
Galinda cupped Elphaba's cheeks in her hands, "Elphie, I love you. But we should get home now. That's enough alcohol for you," she let go of Elphaba's cheeks to reach for her hand as she rose from her seat, prompting Elphaba to stand up also. Elphaba almost stumbled out of her stance before Galinda took hold of her waist. Elphaba gazed up at her, daze plastered across her features as Galinda wrapped Elphaba's arm around her shoulders. "And we're absolutely not doing anything when you're drunk. Let's get you to bed!" Galinda assured with a smile. Elphaba was too drunk out of her mind to even respond.
The morning after, Elphaba woke up, laid upon a plush mattress, in contrast to her own—oh, she is in Galinda's bed. The cause of realization being beside her, already awake, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Oh, you're awake. Good morning, Elphie!"
Elphaba's head felt way too heavy. And of course Galinda owes the explanation, it was inevitable. And of course, she had to explain every single occurrence. Every single one. Maybe it could satiate at least one reason for Elphaba’s headache.
Elphaba quivered, frantically turning away from the blonde, now at the edge of the bed too. Seems like it didn’t help the cause, because she felt her entire body ablaze once more. “Did I really say that!?”
“Yes!” Galinda bubbled, crawling on the bed to reach Elphaba, the mattress shifting from her weight as she took wide steps. “Well? When do you want to do it?”
“I’d rather we not talk about it right now.”
Lesson learned: never let Elphaba near alcohol ever again.
