I once saw a post on reddit that Escher (given the minimal information about him in the book) could be from the Wachter family, and I really liked this idea. This is an alternative backstory of Escher, which is accompanied by my vision of both this character and the campaign. It's also intertwined with the backstory of the character I played. This work is written in the format of a series of memories about the childhood, adolescence, and formation of a boy who was sold by his parents to Ravenloft. About how he managed to survive. About what he learned. About his close acquaintance with a dark-haired fanged person. How he got his ring with roses and what it all led to in the end. There might be SPOILERS for the campaign and alternative history of Barovia becoming... Well, Barovia.
Warning: contains a lot of psychological trauma, psychological and physical abuse, substance abuse and heavy angst.
