Work Text:

Evening. The sea rolls in gently, the sky painted in peach and lavender tones. Luis stands with his hands in his pockets, wind tousling his hair. Leon is nearby — a little apart, barefoot, drawing lines in the sand with the tip of his shoe.

“I never thought we’d live to see peaceful days like this,” Luis says, eyes on the horizon.

“I still don’t believe it,” Leon admits. He’s looking at the water, but watching Luis from the corner of his eye.

“Remember when you yelled into the radio, ‘Don’t you dare die’?” Luis chuckles.

“How could I forget? My heart nearly gave out.”

Silence. Only the sea speaks now.

“I realized then how much you meant to me,” Leon says quietly, like it’s a secret the ocean should hear too.

Luis turns to him. No jokes in his eyes. Just warmth.

“And I realized it when you first fell asleep next to me and didn’t pull your hand away.”

They stand closer. Quiet.

Luis gently takes Leon’s wrist.

“May I?”

Leon nods.

The kiss is light, like a breeze from the sea. With a taste of salt on their lips.

“You’re home now, Leon. With me.”

“Always,” Leon whispers.

And in the sound of the waves, it almost feels like the sea agrees.
