Work Text:
Hong Kong muffles choked sobs into Iceland's shoulder, breath catching, dampening his shirt.
"Sorry, Just. Just give me a second."
"Shh, it's okay," Iceland soothes, patting his hair, "Take as long as you need. Take as long as you need, okay?"
Leon just keeps crying until the sobs subside, quietly. Time seems to slow, low afternoon light framing the quiet. Emil has tried to move them so his boyfriend is still curled in his lap, but they're both half-lying down and he can cradle his head in his lap.
"My head hurts," Leon speaks, quietly, face still buried in Emil's sweater.
"Of course it does, you've been crying for hours and you haven't eaten anything." Emil shifts tentatively. "I'll go get you some water. Be back quick, okay?" He presses another pet to the head of brown hair on his lap.
The glass of water is warm in his hand, hot porcelain against his palm. He holds the warm water out for Leon, then feeds him the medicine.
"I think you need to eat something," he says. Hong Kong curls up against his side, like a cat. "You haven't eaten since this morning," He reminds him.
"I'll try and be quick, okay?" He heats up some soup and leftover rice, along with some warm tea.
"Ahn," he holds a spoonful of rice up, and Hong Kong eats it, half on his side in bed. Emil watches him finish sipping the green tea, and then they lie down under the covers together again, Leon's head cradled in the crook of his arms, dishes forgotten for another time.
"Do you wanna take a nap?" Hong Kong's eyelids drift, half closed, fluttering, and curls up tighter. It's already late afternoon, and they'll surely awaken at night restless, but that's alright. They could watch a movie, or play Mario Kart. All Iceland really cares about right now is the warm, precious person curled up by his side right now, and the safe coccoon that these blankets are for them right now. He pets a hand on Leon's hair, and hears a whisper of, "Thanks,"
"For... Putting up with me."
"You're not something to be put up with. I want to take care of you."
"...I like being able to be there for you."
Hong Kong nods, satisfied, and buries his head further in his arms for a warm sleep.
