Chapter Text
Shadow Milk Cookie wasn’t a stalker, he was just bored. Well, actually, he was a bit of a stalker. But not in an obsessive lovey way, he wanted nothing to do with this guy! He watched him purely for entertainment purposes!
Pure Vanilla Cookie is everything Shadow Milk is not. This is not a compliment. Shadow Milk is cunning, handsome, and overall the best cookie ever. Pure Vanilla is.. naïve, to say the least. The guy wanted to be friends with Shadow Milk Cookie! Psh, what a joke. After all he’d been put through he still wants to forgive Shadow Milk and be friends. What. A. Joke.
Shadow Milk Cookie was in his own realm, away from everyone else. He couldn’t care to be bothered right now.
He was watching Pure Vanilla through a portal he conjured up. He’d nothing else to do, so might as well watch the guy he hates most.
Pure Vanilla was in his home, well, “home” is a bit of an understatement. He lives in a massive castle. He was quite literally in a ball room right now. He had invited some cookies and the ancients to join him for a reunion of sorts. Only one of the ancients had actually showed up though, it was Hollyberry Cookie.
Either the other cookies were busy, or they’d had enough of Pure Vanillas overwhelming positivity. Honestly, he was much more appealing as Truthtless Recluse. He was filled with unwavering despair, it couldn’t have been better! But, of course, his little minions, which he insists are his friends, gave him the “strength to keep going”. Absolutely ridiculous, I mean, what is this? A children’s cartoon about the power of friendship? Seriously, how much more cheesy could it have gotten? It felt unreal.
Anyhow, Pure Vanilla was speaking with Hollyberry. The other cookies were loud and the ballroom was bustling with noise. Shadow Milk cookie had been able to mute that out for the most part and just listen in on the important conversation. Hollyberry did actually look rather upset, he’d hoped they were fighting.
Shadow milk liked this, he’d always hated when he’d check on Pure Vanilla and see him smiling, laughing, enjoying himself. He was just living it up, wasn’t he? He had no cares, no worries, his life was just fine. He hated it. He hated it so much. He wasn’t sure what he was jealous of, Pure Vanilla being happy or the fact that he paid attention to cookies that weren’t him. He didn’t want to be jealous of cookies that got Pure Vanilla’s affections, it didn’t matter anyway. But he kept feeling that pang in his chest. He’d liked it when Pure Vanilla had given up and paid attention to him, it wasn’t positive attention, but he didn’t like positive attention to begin with. He just wanted someone to look at him, he wanted to be hated. Well, anyway, this was a nice change of pace.
“I mean, you’re probably the nicest cookie in all of earth bread, so why would you want to do this?” Hollyberry spoke in a hushed voice, it seemed this conversation was meant to be private. They’re idiots for having an important conversation in such a crowded room, aren’t they? But, this does sound rather interesting. What could Pure Vanilla have done? It probably was something trivial.
“I believe that cookies can change, I understand your hesitance, but it doesn’t concern you. This is what I want. You know I would never do anything to put you, or any cookie, in danger.” Pure Vanilla responded rather calmly, his eyes closed, he still had that stupid smile that never leaves his face. It made Shadow Milk’s dough crawl, no one could possibly be that happy.
“But you’re putting yourself in danger. You forget to see yourself as a cookie too!” Hollyberry retorted, sounding a bit frustrated.
Ugh, there they go again! These cookies always look out for everyone but themselves. Almost every time Shadow Milk peeps in on what’s happening in the Vanilla Kingdom, somebody is telling Pure Vanilla to take care of himself. He’s always babble some excuse to get out of it, Shadow Milk liked that. For being.. well, Pure Vanilla Cookie, he didn’t care for himself at all. He shouldn’t. He’s a worthless half-cookie, he stole Shadow Milk’s soul jam, he’s a hoax, really.
Shadow Milk had tuned back into the conversation between the two ancients after hearing his name brought up.
“I want to help Shadow Milk Cookie. I believe he has kindness and love inside him too.” Pure Vanilla was just spouting nonsense, as per usual.
Shadow Milk closed the portal, he’d heard enough. Pure Vanilla was so insistent that he could change Shadow Milk for the better, it’s such a joke.
He thought about the fact that he could use this as an opportunity to ruin the Vanilla Kingdom from the inside out. That could be fun, but he’d have to be around Pure Vanilla. He’s not sure if that’s something worth some entertainment. Pure Vanilla was the most annoying cookie on earth bread. Would it be worth it?
He stood, shocked, flabbergasted, for a good minute. Pure Vanilla had just woken up, he went to go take his regular morning walk when he felt something whoosh by him. He’d passed it off as a really massive bird. Maybe the poor thing was overweight.
“‘Nilly!”
He’d nearly jumped out of his dough. He brought a hand up to his chest, attempting to calm his body.
“Who-? Wait, Shadow Milk Cookie? I know this voice.” Pure Vanilla spoke calmly, despite the fact that his heart was beating out of his chest and he was still working on calming his breathing.
“Ding ding ding! We’ve got a winner! Would you like to see what’s behind curtain number one? Or wait, you can’t see. Where’s your staff anyways? Isn’t that like, your eye?” Shadow Milk liked the sound of his own voice, it was pretty obvious. It was sweet, in a way. Shadow Milk liked something.
“I just woke up, I did not grab it. I know my way around my home, I do this same routine every morning, I do not need to see to be able to walk outside and feel the sunshine. Why are you here? Can I do something to help you, my friend?”
Shadow Milk shuddered, Pure Vanilla couldn’t see it, but he could feel it. Did he really hate being called a friend that much?
He hesitated.
“Isn’t it obvious? Come on, ‘Nilly! You’re supposed to be smart, use that little head of yours!” Shadow Milk cookie continued floating in the air, fiddling with the ruffles on his sleeves.
“Hm.. could it be you want to rehabilitate? I have my doubts, but it would be nice.”
“Bzzzt, wrong! Wanna try again?”
“I’m a bit too drowsy for this, could you just tell me?” Pure Vanilla spoke with a calm smile.
“I was BORED, I did basically everything I could back home and now I’m bored. You should entertain me.”
“Right now?”
“Yeah, dance.”
“I’m not sure I have that in me, not anymore.” Pure Vanilla chuckled softly, he was getting a bit sleepy from the feeling of warm sunshine on his dough. He sat down in the grass.
“Hello? Earth bread to ‘Nilly?” Pure Vanilla had fallen asleep as soon as he had sat down in the grass, still wet from the morning dew. He was getting his robes wet. This was pathetic, but for some reason, Shadow Milk didn’t want to just leave him in the grass. He could use this as leverage later, but it wasn’t much of blackmail. He could tell Pure Vanilla he’d spilled some bad secret in his half-conscious state, that could be fun. Yeah, he’ll do that.
Shadow Milk stepped foot, well, he floated, into the Vanilla Kingdom. He was using his magic to have Pure vanilla float along with him, he wasn’t going to touch him. The halls were rather empty. Shadow Milk was disappointed, he’d been hoping to antagonize Pure Vanilla’s subjects.
He thought back. “…my friend?”
He shuddered again. They were not friends. Shadow Milk would be caught dead before being friends with Pure Vanilla cookie, or any cookie for that matter. And he was immortal! Friends and relationships were useless.
He didn’t want to think about that ugly craving of affection. Wanting someone to look at you, being so needy. It’s horrible. Who would voluntarily get into that? Everyone, it seems.
He plopped pure vanilla onto some couch, this place is too big, he’s got no idea where Pure Vanilla usually sleeps. He’ll just wait in the shadows to see when Pure Vanilla wakes up, maybe he’ll assume this was a dream.
This could turn out to be a lot of fun.
