It’d started raining thirty minutes ago, people going outside to splash in puddles and feel the water drip down their faces. Then, when the rain didn’t stop pouring in massive blobs, those very same people retreated back inside, shivering from the cold and soaking wet. Fanny, when the rain had started, had thought nothing of it, continuing to read her book, only slightly annoyed by the incessant pattering on her bedroom window.
It took the first strike of lightning for Fanny to realize just what kind of storm she was dealing with.
