Twisted For Love

Summary:

While on a run, Brigitte twists her ankle! Hana helps her back to base to get the help she needs.

Work Text:

Brigitte and Hana were on a run together, just getting some early morning exercise.

“I don’t know why you had to bring me along,” Hana said, struggling to keep up with Brigitte’s stride.

“Running is good for you!” Brigitte chuckled. “Plus I know you like spending time with me, don’t you?”

“Yes…” Hana rolled her eyes. “You’re my girlfriend. So like… of course I like spending time with you… I just hate running… like a lot.”

“I know you do,” Brigitte laughed softly when suddenly, a crack in the sidewalk caused her to tumble over and twist her ankle. She fell over to the ground and yelped loudly.

“Are you okay?” Hana ran up to her, squatting down. “That was a nasty tumble.”

“Shit, yeah… I’m fine,” Brigitte said as she put her hands around her ankle. “I’m fine!”

Hana looked at her and crossed her arms. “Did you hurt yourself?”

Brigitte laughed it off. “No, I’m fine, see?” She pushed herself off the ground and tried walking, but the second she put weight on her left foot, she yelped in pain and tumbled over again. “Owie…”

“Did you just say owie?” Hana snorted at that. “It’s okay you big baby.”

“I am not a big baby!” Brigitte pouted, holding onto her ankle in pain. “I am a big beautiful butch who deserves love and respect.”

“Big beautiful butch baby,” Hana rolled her eyes. “You can be both.”

Brigitte sighed, looking at her foot with a saddened expression. “Could you maybe help me walk back to base?”

“I can try. As we have both stated, you are rather large… and, well, I am small…” Hana said, putting her hand out for Brigitte to take so she could help her to her feet. “We’ll see. If I can’t, I could call Cass or Bap to help you…”

“I’d rather them not see me injured from tumbling on a sidewalk…” Brigitte sighed, taking Hana’s hand and being lifted to her feet. She kept her left foot off the ground as Hana placed her arm around her waist to support her. “See? I think this’ll work.”

“Yeah,” Hana chuckled as they began walking. “Good thing we’re only a few minutes out and didn’t get our full run in. I don’t know if we could have walked the two kilometers back like this.”

“If you weren’t here I would have done like five bajillion kilometers.”

“Oh sure you would,” Hana rolled her eyes. “I’ll get up to running marathons soon. I just… can’t now. And neither can you. Since you just hurt yourself.”

Brigitte laughed and then sighed. “I’ll be out for at most six weeks, but probably more like three or four… God how am I going to survive?”

“Relax for once in your life,” Hana said with a hint of seriousness. “All you do is work—”

“I know you’re not talking,” Brigitte said, which came out a little harsher than she intended. “Sorry, sorry. I just think we both have some things we need to work on.”

“Yeah, no, you’re right. I can be a little hypocritical from time to time…” Hana admitted. “I’ve been with the MEKA Squad since I was like seventeen and was a famous streamer before that… I’ve never known anything else other than work.”

“I’ve always had to live up to my father’s figure as a good inventor… I just… hmm…” Brigitte trailed off. “How old is Seung-hwa, again?”

“A year younger than me. Jae-eun is the oldest, then Kyung-soo, then Yuna, then me, then Seung-hwa. We were all recruited as teenagers, though, so we’re all still pretty young…” Hana sighed. “It’s just been work work work, ya know?”

“That’s kinda sad…” Brigitte said softly. “You were all professional gamers turned military operatives…”

“Yep!” Hana said with a slight sigh. “But I wouldn’t change it for the world. Sure, it’s stressful, but it led me to Overwatch… it led me to you…”

Brigitte smiled. “Yeah, I guess that’s true.”

“Yeah, it is.”

As they arrived at the base, Hana opened the door and helped Brigitte inside. “Medic? See if Angela can do anything?” she asked.

“Yeah, I guess yeah,” Brigitte nodded.

“Okay!” Hana said as they made their way to the medic’s office to see if Angela was there, and well, of course, she was.

“Angela!” Brigitte called out. “I twisted my ankle.”

“Oh dear,” Angela suddenly emerged. “What happened?”

“He tripped and fell on a crack in the sidewalk,” Hana explained. “It was a pretty nasty fall, too…”

Angela nodded. “Well, sit down in this chair and I’ll see what I can,” she said, pointing to a chair.

Hana helped Brigitte into the chair and then awkwardly put her hands together, looking at Brigitte and then Angela.

“Hey, Hana, can you go get my dad?” Brigitte said. “He’s probably in the work shop…”

“Yeah! Yeah, I can do that.” Hana nodded dramatically. “I’ll uh… be right back!”

Angela chuckled as Hana ran out the door off to go find Torbjörn before turning her focus back on Brigitte. “Is it alright if I take off your sock and shoe?”

“Yes,” Brigitte nodded. “It’s the left foot.”

Humming a soft tune, Angela gently took off Brigitte’s running shoe and sock so she could examine the foot the best she could. Soon, though, the humming turned a bit sour as she did so. “Looks like a level two sprain.”

“Darn….” Brigitte sighed. “Rest, compression, elevation, all that fun stuff here I come!” she said in sarcastic joy.

“It’s okay, Cole used to sprain stuff all the time when he was back in Blackwatch. He was so clumsy,” Angela chuckled. “If Genji wasn’t a cyborg, I think he’d be in the same boat.”

“But I’m going to miss working out… I love running and lifting weights and doing all that!”

“It’ll only be four to six weeks, Brig. You can do it. I believe in you.” Angela said in an encouraging voice.

Suddenly, Torbjörn was in the room, looking at Brigitte. “Are you alright?” he said, out of breath from running.

“Pappa, I just sprained my ankle,” Brigitte chuckled. “Angela said I’ll be fine, right?”

“Yes, she just needs rest and to properly take care of it. Which I’m sure you’ll both keep her in check for that, right?” Angela said, looking between Torbjörn and Hana.

“Yes!” Hana nodded. “At least I won’t have to go running with her for… uh… how long?”

“Four to six weeks,” Brigitte sighed.

“Here, let me put a compression on it,” Anglea said, grabbing a compression gauze and beginning to wrap it around Brigitte’s ankle. “How does that feel?”

“Yeah, that’s good,” Brigitte nodded.

“Älskling, you need to be more careful!” Torbjörn said… very loudly at that. “You can’t get injured! You’re my sweet baby girl, and I hate seeing you get hurt.

“Pappa…” Brigitte said, starting to regret telling Hana to get him.

“Mr. Lindholm, I will make sure she takes care of herself, as your daughters loveable and amazing femme, it is my job to protect and keep her safe! I’ll even beat up the evil sidewalk if need be,” Hana snorted. “I can kick a sidewalk’s ass.”

“A sidewalk doesn’t have an ass, Hana.” Angela rolled her eyes, grabbing some crutches from the closet. “Here, you should be able to use these to get around.”

Brigitte took them and placed them under her arms so she could stand up. “Wish they were forearm not underarm, but they’ll do.”

“It’s what we have,” Angela shrugged. “I can try and get you some forearm ones eventually but as of right now this is what you will have to use.”

Torbjörn walked up to Brigitte. “Oh my poor baby.”

“Pappa!” Brigitte whined. “I just wanted to let you know that I got hurt and will be out of commission for a while, not for you to fawn over me like I’m twelve…” she said through her teeth. She knew her father meant well, but it was annoying. She was a grown ass butch, not a child. She didn’t need his babying…

“Right, right,” Torbjörn backed up with his hands in the air. “I will be checking on you every once in a while though, just to make sure you’re taking care of yourself properly!”

“Hana will probably already be doing that,” Brigitte laughed softly. “Right, Hana?”

“Yes!” Hana nodded. “I know you’d do the same for me if I was out, so of course I will do it for you!”

“Then looks like we’re all set here,” Anglea said with a smile. “You two go to Brigitte’s room and settle down in bed. Get her to elevate the foot on a pillow or something. Torbjörn… go back to bothering Reinhardt. Hana will take good care of your daughter, okay?”

“Yes, Mr. Lindholm, I will!” Hana said, bouncing slightly on her feet. “I will make sure she does everything she needs to heal properly.”

“Alright, thank you, Ms. Song. Please take good care of my daughter… good good care,” Torbjörn said before walking out.

Hana and Brigitte looked at each other and burst out laughing.

“Mr. Lindholm!” Brigitte mocked.

“Sorry! I didn’t know what else to say!” Hana snorted.

“Okay, you two, get Brigitte to her room so she can rest.” Anglea rolled her eyes softly, gently urging them to leave her medic’s office so she could continue working.

Brigitte adjusted how she was holding the crutches, picked up her shoe and sock, and began moving towards the door. “My room isn’t far— well, you know where my room is… heh…” she wanted to facepalm.

“Yes, I do, in fact, know where your room is,” Hana chuckled. They left the office and headed to Brigitte’s room, which… was, well, only a few doors down.

The door slid open and Brigitte dramatically collapsed onto the bed. “Rest time.”

“I thought you said you hated rest?” Hana raised an eyebrow.

“Changed my mind,” Brigitte laughed, grabbing her extra pillow and placing it under her injured foot. “I want to rest now.”

“Okay,” Hana chuckled. “I wanna go play some video games, but text me if you need anything! I will drop everything to be here for you, forever and always.”

“Okay, okay. I got it,” Brigitte laughed softly, watching as Hana left.

Maybe she’d get some shut-eye in… take a quick little nap.

With that, she faded off into sleep.
