Chapter Text
It’s an ordinary day in the bunker, the thick metal walls as cold as ever, the lights as bright and glaring as usual, and its inhabitants all meandering around doing their tasks. This includes Uzi Doorman, a normal-looking worker drone harboring powers unknown to even her, as the defeat of an eldritch deity via eating its heart would do to oneself. While Uzi is walking down the halls, headed to her locker at the end of yet another school day, she’s joined by N, a disassembly drone who is essentially just a golden retriever with deadly claws. The pair quickly gets into some idle chit-chat, mostly about school subjects and how boring it is for the two.
Quietly, Uzi gets a message from someone, the icon silently appearing in her hud as she speaks, leaving it to be noticed many hours later when she’s about to go to sleep. She sees it, shrugs, and continues her nightly routine.
As soon as she lays down, another message comes in, the icon going from 1 to 2, accompanied this time with a quiet ‘ding’ sound. Again, she ignores it; it’s probably just some random problem, which can wait until tomorrow, and if it’s not she’ll be woken up and alerted in person.
When Uzi wakes up, she sees the icon at 9+ messages. Grumbling, she goes through her morning routine, opting to check it over breakfast with N. Of course, breakfast never came, a semi-emergency regarding something important breaking took up most of her day, while the rest of the night was spent sleeping at her desk, promising to N that she’ll take that next day off to compensate.
Finally, she wakes once more, and opts to check her messages, the icon now simply at a ‘…’ instead of any numbers.
Opening it, Uzi freezes, fear running down her mechanical spine; the drone messaging her isn’t a drone at all. No, the abomination that the Absolute Solver is has somehow managed to… revive? Wake up? While the circumstances are unclear, the situation is still very real.
Reading the messages, it’s… simultaneously extremely terrifying and weirdly nostalgic. It had been about a year since the Solver’s defeat, Uzi now being 19, and having such an entity talking to her is reminding her of both her trauma, and meeting N and V for the first time.
The next thing she feels is extreme confusion; why is the Solver saying it has empathy now? And is actively apologizing for its actions? Okay this is weird, Uzi can’t help but be suspicious of it.
Continuing down, the messages only get weirder. Something about finally knowing the feeling of love and... oh. Is it... no, it can’t be.
Uzi blinks, reading the message before her once, then twice. Yep, it definitely seems like the Solver of the Absolute Fabric, the Exponential End, is flirting with Uzi Doorman, the one who stopped it from ending all life on Copper-9 and everywhere else.
‘Well,’ Uzi thinks, bewildered. ’I guess I have more game than I thought I did.’
‘…let’s see what happens. I mean, worst case scenario, I just tell it to bite me and block it. Best case… I have the blessing of a deity. Maybe I can learn some cool new powers along the way. Yeah, why not…
Let’s flirt with the Absolute Solver.’
