The last mercenary slammed into the bars with a thud, sliding motionless to the ground. Adrien beamed up at his knight in shining armor – though she was no knight; technically, Ladybug was an “enemy of the kingdom” even though she did far more for the kingdom than his father ever would – as she unlocked the cage.
“Prince Adrien, I am beginning to think you are getting yourself into these situations on purpose just to see me.”
“I am not,” he said, though he might’ve considered it had such kidnappings been less regular, “but I cannot say I oppose that outcome.”
