Work Text:

"I sure can do a triple backflip off the roof of this hotel into that pool and land with no injury!" Apple Bomb argued.

When Dice said she was having Team D do team-building exercises on the roof, she did not mean Popcorn and Apple Bomb getting into an argument on who could do a cooler trick into the pool. However, any attempt at this point to break up the argument would get the entire team involved, if not for the fact half the team was already involved in this pointless argument of skills (the ones arguing were: Almond Milk, Apple Bomb, Comic Book, Lighter, and Popcorn). Dice knew the argument would almost instantly dissolve if Apple Bomb was removed, but leaving that argument unattended would end very, very poorly.

"Hey Bookmark," Dice called to the bookworm, reading now there was an argument, "Could you get Crystal for me?"

Bookmark looked up from her book, "Why?"

Dice scoffed, "Because, I wanna break up that argument," she pointed her foot to the 5, "and Apple Bomb started it."

"Oh, ok!" Bookmark got up, going off to find Crystal.

"We're allowed to leave?" Mortar asked.

Dice rolled her eyes, "No! I'm sending Bookmark to go get someone for me!"

Down in the hotel, Team I were... a lot more civilized. Most of them were playing Poker (thanks to Diamond), but three weren't. For one, Poker Chip had already been banned from playing Poker (how ironic), Starfruit was a lot more focused on tinkering with something than whatever her team was up to, and then there was Crystal. Crystal, well... she wasn't with the rest of Team I.

Bookmark walked down to Team I was, and Poker Chip was the first to notice. "Hey! You're on Team D, right?"

"Yeah, Dice sent me to get Crystal," Bookmark admitted, albeit pretty quietly.

The rest of Team I went silent. The problem was... none of them had seen Crystal all day. Not even at breakfast.

"So..." Bookmark felt awkward, "Where's Crystal?"

Crystal sure did not expect the situation she was in right now.

What was her situation, you may ask?

Somehow, she got her lasso stuck around a tree branch, which would be fine, if she hadn't tied the lasso to her hand as part of the exercise to improve her lassoing skills. So... now she was stuck, hanging by her lasso, on a tree branch that refused to snap. And she couldn't just, you know, UNTIE THE LASSO! She was right-handed, and her left hand, although just as skilled, couldn't untie a knot by itself.

"I WILL DO A TRIPLE BACKFLIP INTO THE POOL JUST TO PROVE YOU WRONG!"

"THEN I'LL DO A QUADRUPLE BACKFLIP!!"

"God Bookmark, getting someone doesn't take this long. You should of found her by now."

"Well where is she usually in the mornings before breakfast?" Bookmark was determined to get to the bottom of this.

Team I thought, before Emerald spoke up, "She usually does lasso practice in the park."

"Thank you," Bookmark sighed, "I'll go find her now."

In the park, Crystal was swinging back and forth, frustrated. If only this stupid tree branch would break! She was starving, and just wanted to get food. As she looked down, she noticed Bookmark walking over.

"Finally! Someone... found me!" Crystal called out between exhausted pants.

"How..." Bookmark just stared, before sighing, "If I get you unstuck will you help me with something?"

Crystal thought about it, "Do I get food after whatever request ya got for me?"

"Yes," Bookmark looked her dead in the eyes, "...Have you eaten at all today?"

"Nope. I've been stuck in this tree here," Crystal sighed.

Holding her hand out, Crystal grabbed Bookmark to get her up and Crystal untied from the tree. Bookmark was also kind enough to grab the lasso off the branch, which was greatly appreciative of Crystal.

"I swear to god..." Dice muttered, as Bookmark had been yet to return, and the argument was about to become a full-blown fight.

"Where was she?" Emerald asked.

Bookmark was basically dragging Crystal, "No time for answers right now! Crystal can explain later!"

"Weird," Iceberg Lettuce muttered, "Call."

Once out of earshot of Team I, Bookmark started talking to herself, as Crystal was now matching Bookmark's pace. "God, Dice is gonna kill me..."

"You okay?"

"No, and I don't really want to blame you, so instead I'm going to blame half my team who got into an argument that prompted me to go find you."

"Well, I should be thanking you for saving me."

"I'll be thanking you if you manage to get me out of trouble with Dice."

Opening the door to the roof, Bookmark's gaze met Dice, a nervous expression was plastered across Bookmark's face.

"I expected you to be much faster, Bookmark." Dice spat.

Bookmark tried to swallow her nerves, "I- it's not my fault Crystal got stuck in a tree..."

"She WHAT?!?" Dice screeched.

"You heard Bookmark here right," Crystal bit back, "I got stuck in a tree and was stuck there all mornin'!"

Dice groaned, "I need you to round in the one who started the fight. Apple Bomb."

In a quick, fluid motion, Crystal lassoed Apple Bomb right out of the fight, "Gottcha' hooligan!"

With Apple Bomb out of the fight, Popcorn and Comic Book stopped fighting, however Almond Milk and Lighter had only actually been fighting each other. Dice really didn't bother, they always fought like that anyways.

Dice looked over at the two still fighting, "Almond Milk! Lighter! Stop fighting!"

That got the other two to stop. With everyone calmed down, Dice simply dismissed "team-building time" and left. Everyone filed out as well, Bookmark still with Crystal. As they were halfway to the cafeteria, Crystal started a small conversation.

"Why are you still walking with me?"

"I figured you must be pretty hungry, and you wouldn't want to eat alone."

Crystal chuckled, "Thanks."
