Chapter Text
The moonlight draped gently over their forms, casting a soft glow across the field. The grass swayed in the breeze, its tips brushing against iTrapped’s skin as he laid back, staring up at the sky. Above them, stars sparkled in a way they never could in the bright haze of the city. Chance laid next to him, uncharacteristically silent — on most nights, they would’ve never stopped talking.
Dirt clung to his vest, leaving dark smudges along the fabric. He sighed in annoyance. Why was he still here? A night like this was perfect for the casino — the chill air ideal for a drink or two, the tables calling to him with the promise of wagers and winnings.
Yet here he was, entertaining Chance’s strange desires to go stargazing.
They both laid in silence, not a single word disrupting the stillness between them. Eventually, iTrapped sat up, brushing off his clothes as he slowly rose to his feet. He stood, finding no reason to linger any longer — but then fingers closed around his wrist.
“ Wait, don’t go yet, please. “ Their voice came out quietly, almost unfamiliar in its vulnerability. There was something fragile buried beneath their usual calm tone. The moonlight painted their face in silver hues, rays of light bouncing off their shades, and even if for just a moment, he found himself hitched in his breath. Had they always looked like this?
No, nevermind. He should’ve walked away — and yet, something held him there, begging him to stay. His brows furrowed before he sighed and laid back down beside them. The stars glittered overhead, sharp and brilliant against the sky’s void. A moment later, a weight settled on his chest. He tensed — Chance’s hair tickled his neck and jaw as they curled closer. What were they doing?
More importantly, what was he doing?
Arms slid around his waist, holding him gently. “ What are you doing? “ He lifted his head, his voice came out cold, guarded. His hands hovered uncertainly in the air, unsure of where to rest. Chance chuckled, the sound lighter than before. At least this one felt sincere.
“ Come on, loosen up. “ They pulled him closer, nestling in between his neck as if they belonged there. iTrapped exhaled, hesitant, before awkwardly placing his hands onto their back as his head fell back against the earth.
This wasn’t like him. He didn’t do this. Maybe it was pity. Maybe it was something else.
But still, he stayed.
Chance’s breathing slowed, their eyes slowly slid shut underneath their shades. He groaned softly — probably for the fourth time that night. And just like that, it was quiet again. Only the gentle rustling of leaves and the rhythmic chirr of crickets filled the air. With nothing else to focus on, he let the sounds wash over him. His hand moved instinctively, rubbing slow, absent circles along their back. It all came so naturally. A soft, contented hum vibrated against his chest. Theirs.
His lips twitched into a faint smile — one he immediately tried to smother.
Perhaps, just this once, he’ll let himself indulge in the feeling.
