Work Text:
Seawatt woke up on a tiny grass block. Around him there were more. In the distance he could see wooden and stone houses.
Something was really wrong…he knew it.
Looking down, his heart sank. Leather boots. He was a noob now.
This can’t be. This had to be a sick joke. Or maybe a hallucination right before death?
Flashes came back—The Race. The Temple. Evbo. His last words.
The Temple. Maybe there was something there that could help him.
He climbed toward the quartz building, just a few short jumps away.
“I didn’t think you’d be back so soon,” a voice said behind him.
He turned and meet Evbo’s emerald gaze. He stood still. Looking like a powerful leader instead of a noob who just learned how to do a one block jump.
“What did—” Seawatt started, then stopped, staring at Evbo’s Netherite boots.
“Let’s talk.” Evbo said, gesturing calmly.
“What did you do to me?” Seawatt snapped.
“Well,” Evbo shrugged, “a lot happened after you died. I became God. We rebuilt spawn.”
Died. So it was true. But then…how was he here again?
“You think I’m stupid? What are you planning?” Seawatt asked, keeping his guard up.
“I’m trying to make things better?” Evbo replied, confused.
Seawatt facepalmed. Same old Evbo.
“Let me rephrase. Why did you bring me back?”
Evbo hesitated. “I wanted you to see how bad it was. To understand. Maybe... to be better.”
Seawatt’s jaw dropped. “You made me a noob for petty revenge?”
“Can I finish?” Evbo growled. “Yes, maybe a little revenge. But also a chance—to learn, to grow.”
“So it’s a challenge?” Seawatt cut in.
“If that’s what helps you sleep at night.” Evbo muttered.
Seawatt smirked, stepping forward. “Then I’ll show you.”
He shook the God’s hand.
