Death Sticks, bad?

Summary:

It’s a bad habit, Hunter knows that well.

Work Text:

Hunter, was on a break.

A smoke break to be more exact. The Scout was standing just outside the Marauder while puffing away in the silence of the darkened night, hoping none to be the wiser. His team to be more exact.

Of course Hunter knew he shouldn’t be sucking on those things. They were really bad for anyone with the toxins coming out sticking right into the body. And yet, they were a guilty pleasure of the Scouts he did not want to give up on.

A habit not pursued too often, thankfully. But sometimes, Hunter simply needed the smokes to calm himself down after a particularly bad mission.

An excuse? Perhaps.

Hunter knew the others did not appreciate the smell left behind nor Hunters breath. So Hunter made sure to always be carrying some mints on his person in the effort of trying to hide the smell. He failed on that one too.

They all smelled the death sticks on Hunter just fine after his return. Avoiding the man until it all faded.

“Heh… guess I am a sucker after all. Cross sure was right about that one!”

Hunter could not help but to comment to himself about the pun Crosshair had made earlier seeing the Sarge sneaking out for his death sticks. As they all knew what Hunter was doing.

It wasn’t a mean comment, simply made because the Sniper cared. They all cared for each other.

And so, it made Hunter feel even more guilty while puffing away. Tonight being already on his third stick. Not good at all!

“Guess I really should give up on these? Find some other thing to occupy my mind with?”

Not getting any answer from the night, the critters and crawlers out there ignoring him too.

Hunter looked at the burning cigarette between his fingers, debating for a moment. Then taking another puff from it. Half the stick gone by now, Hunter threw it onto the ground and stepped on it really hard, making sure it was extinguished properly before putting it into a container for disposal.

Shaking his head, with his mind made up finally.

“Time to find a new hobby!”

Hunter’s simple statement more to himself, but a promise no less, as he briskly walked back to the Marauder. Ready to break the good news for his family.
