On my totes cool bike
Settling on Pabu had been the best thing happening to the Bad Batch and especially for Hunter.
As of right now, Hunter too like the other clones living on the sanctuary island was able to concentrate on the finer things in life. Such as just being alive, eating real and good food and yes having hobbies too.
Not that that had deterred Tech and Wrecker in the past, the hobby part. But Hunter having concentrated more on his career of being the leader of his wayward squad and taking care of his family soon after than having the time for things of his own back then.
But now, that had all changed.
And Hunter, having found the most prefect hobby to call his own.
Tinkering with something which was to become a mode of transport. Something rare and precious for sure.
It had started as little if nothing of a scrap heap they had found on one of their trips. A remnant from the past it was. But Hunter having seen something of beauty in the pile of parts and so it had started.
With the help of Tech, the two had managed to build up from said heap of scrap into a working machine. A thing with a combustion engine taking in something called petrol as fuel. Truly archaic but Tech had managed to create an alternate means to fire up the ole engine of the newly assembled vehicle.
A motorbike it was called as they had learnt from the historical database.
Hunter and Tech stood there with grease donning their skins and clothing. The two certainly looking proud as they had finally completed the arduous job. The parts forming the perfect vessel to ride with, the chrome parts buffed and shining in the afternoon sun.
“Well, it looks ready.”
“Yeah, it really does.”
Hunter touched the bike carefully as if it was way precious and would break on contact.
“So, a test run?”
Hunter stood there in perfect awe for a spell longer. Having only dreamt of this moment ever since seeing theses bikes in action in the historical documents on the holonet Tech had found for him.
“Ye- yeah. Sounds good.”
Hunter composed himself the best he could, the overwhelming emotions set aside before daring to move towards the bike again. Touching the handles before hopping on. Loving the feel of it, Hunter closed his eyes and imagined the ride ahead with open roads.
“Are you going to turn the engine on at all, Hunter?”
Tech sounded more amused than accusatory having observed Hunter.
“Hehe, yeah. Guess. I just…”
Hunter touched the key before he turned it. The engine coming alive with soft purr of a sound.
“It’s purring rather nicely.” Tech having familiarised himself with the proper lingo.
“It really does.”
Hunter revved the machine a few times. It was all sounding good so far.
Smiling as he did do so, glancing up at Tech, seeing the wistful look on Tech’s face.
“Care to join me, Tech?”
Tech’s smile formed, rather wide too.
“Thought you would never ask.”
Hopping on the bike, holding onto Hunter, the two headed off on the narrow streets of Pabu for a test spin. After all, they had both deserved it.
