Work Text:
Miyano shifted comfortably in his sleep, snuggling closer to the large body beside him. The large body, despite also being in a deep slumber, brought a hand to Miyano’s head to pull him closer to his chest. Miyano wrapped an arm around the body’s back, moving closer to its torso, when the slight bump in his tummy pressed up against the other’s.
The aforementioned body belonged to Sasaki Shuumei, Miyano’s husband. And the father of the child he was currently pregnant with.
Miyano was a few weeks into his second trimester. Due to the size of his body, he never had much trouble with the size of his bump. It was still relatively small, so snuggling up to his husband like this was no problem at all. He didn’t think it would be a problem.
That was three months ago.
Miyano’s bump had grown much bigger in size. Almost bigger than him. Despite the irregular appearance of such a thin body carrying something so big, Miyano had never felt insecure of his baby bump. Sasaki had been with him throughout all of it, after all. He’d never have to worry about anything with Sasaki’s everlasting affection and constant words of praise.
Though, there was a different problem that came up.
Miyano shifts again, less comfortably and this time awake. He notices that Sasaki is turned over, and instinctively moves to wrap his arm around his torso— until he’s stopped by the large bulge in his stomach.
He tries to move closer, to make room somehow, but he just can’t. The best he can do in terms of contact is rest his head on Sasaki’s back (which doesn’t make for a comfortable position).
He huffs as tears begin to gather in his eyes. After intense bouts of back-aching and stomach pain, snuggles with Sasaki are always the highlight of his day, especially since his work takes up so much of their time together. And now he can’t even have that.
Miyano shifts again, facing away from Sasaki to hide his tears. He feels almost pathetic, crying over not being able to touch his husband this one instance. It’s clear that the pregnancy is at fault for him acting this way, but perhaps it’s also been enhancing some of Miyano’s deepest and neediest wants. Either way, he can’t help but begin crying silently.
“…Myaa-chan?”, He jumps hearing a voice mumble sleepily.
He looks over slightly to be met with a worried Sasaki reaching out to him. He must’ve heard his shifting…
Miyano quickly turns his back and goes silent, unsure of what to say or do. He feels terrible for waking Sasaki up over something so dumb, especially with how little sleep he’s been getting lately due to Miyano’s contractions.
“Are you okay?” Sasaki breathes out once again. He pauses to think about what to say, and figures he should be honest as to not make Sasaki worry more than he already is.
“Sorry— i-it’s just…” His voice trembles due to the state he’s in, but he continues.
“The bump is too big… I can’t hug you.”
He’s glad that Sasaki can’t see his face right now due to the mix of embarrassment and guilt on it. He can’t believe how childish he sounds.
He’s about to speak up again to apologize before he feels a warm arm tenderly wrap around his torso, hand moving down to draw soothing circles on his bump.
He feels Sasaki snuggle in closer behind him as soft kisses are placed on his shoulder. They move to his neck, nape, cheek, ear, anywhere Sasaki can reach as Miyano giggles heartily.
He quickly forgets about all of the embarrassment and shame as his heart swells up, overcome with intense love for his husband.
Once Sasaki’s kisses (unfortunately) come to an end, he rests his head on Miyano’s shoulder, still gently caressing his tummy.
“You know I’m always here for you, right?” Sasaki whispers. “I don’t want you to suffer alone. No matter the issue.”
“I’m sorry,” Miyano breathes. “You’ve just been doing so much for me lately. And your schedule is already tough as it is…” He moves to gently squeeze the hand caressing his stomach. “I’m sorry for waking you up over something like this.”
Sasaki presses another gentle kiss to his cheek. “You have no reason to apologize,” He says, “Your happiness is just as important as your physical health. If anything, I wish you’d woken me up intentionally…” He continues with a slight giggle in his voice.
Miyano’s heart does flips at his husband’s unconditional care and love. He’s so grateful to have him. He loves him so much.
He turns his head slightly to kiss him. And Sasaki reciprocates, letting the kiss say all the words of reassurance he wants to speak out. Miyano gets them, moving his hand to tangle in Sasaki’s hair and deepen the kiss, saying all the words of appreciation he wishes he could speak out.
They eventually pull away, going back to snuggling and smiling contently in each other’s arms. Miyano’s breath hitches as Sasaki’s hand subtly travels up the long shirt Miyano is wearing (which of course, belongs to him) to rub the bare skin of his tummy.
“Let’s get some sleep now, okay? After all, our kid might end up as small as her papa if he doesn’t get proper rest…”
“E-Eh?! No, she’ll definitely be tall! I’m not even short!”
They laugh into the night, the distress from before having completely left Miyano’s brain, now replaced by the soft giggles, touches and words from his loving husband. He can’t wait to start a family with him.
