    Summary

The year is 1945 and the mid-afternoon sun is high in the sky, beaming down across the freckled face of Mary, soon-to-be, Mulciber. In a mahogany study, approximately 20 paces from her, sits a man begging her father to commit two murders. Perhaps if she had known this, she may have felt differently about her decision to marry. In Sirius' humble opinion, he thinks the man is a shit. He's still vexed with Remus for bringing him to dine in the first place. As he sits idly listening to a certain man's grovelling, he can hardly help but wonder if James could have convinced her not to marry him.

James is still suffering nightmares. He's pretending he isn't, pretending that's not what they are, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to convince Lily the reason he gets out of bed three times each night is for fresh glasses of water; not to escape the past for a moment or so.

Meanwhile, Marlene's resolve is growing thin, Evan and Barty are reaching breaking point, Dorcas is increasingly concerned with her clients activities, and Peter is, as usual, blissfully oblivious.
