Summary:

“I’m so glad you finally had the courage to tell me”

“Hold on- what?”

The look on Sirius’ face was priceless, confused. He leaned back, looking Remus in the eyes, who could not hold back his laugh anymore. “You’re not exactly subtle, darling.”

Sirius’ mouth opened, and it didn’t look like it would be closing any time soon.

“Come on, baby, put some faith in me.”

Or:
Sirius has a hopeless crush on Remus, Remus knows

I want to kiss you on the mouth

Take my tongue and lead it southbound

Baby, but some faith in me

southbound - Artemas

Sirius Black was fairly convinced that he was excellent at keeping secrets.

For example, Sirius Black was in love with Remus Lupin, and over the last 3 years he had perfected the art of keeping a straight face whenever Remus and him were mentioned in any kind of romantic context.

Sirius Black was also fairly convinced that no one knew about said crush. Turns out Sirius Black was a little stupid at times, because Remus Lupin knew everything.

No matter how hard you tried to hide something from him, he would always find out. He would just be smart enough to not tell you about it, why would he?

So, of course, Remus knew about Sirius’ secret, but why should he tell him? Why tell him when it was so much more fun to watch his friend try to keep a straight face and hopelessly failing.

Friday the 19th of November 1976

Remus started noticing Sirius behaving weirdly around him in their 5th year, although weird probably wasn’t the correct word for it, but he certainly noticed that Sirius behaved differently around Remus, and just around Remus.

Was Sirius afraid of him? Did he think Remus was weird? Did he do something to upset Sirius? He didn’t know.

Now, two months into their 6th year, Remus noticed something else about Sirius. He didn’t have a problem with talking to Remus, he would’ve noticed that sooner, but he rather seemed to get flustered and stumble over his words every time someone talked about them, as in Remus and Sirius as a romantically involved couple.

Now that was interesting, seeing Remus himself had romantic feelings for the oldest Marauder.

It really was obvious once he knew, and could therefore pay closer attention to Sirius. It turned out that Sirius was head over heels for him. He wasn’t the first one, but something in Remus still made him feel almost honoured to be fancied by Sirius Black, of all people.

When Remus came to his conclusion, a wide grin found its place on his face. See, people seemed to believe Remus was the rational one of the Marauders, the normal and mature one, when he really was behind most of their mischievous activities at Hogwarts.

Following that, it seemed only natural to have some fun with the revelation he just made.

Tuesday the 30th of November 1976

Remus was having a great time, since realising how gone for him Sirius was, he had not let any opportunity to make him flustered go unused.

Reaching from a simple “Could you pass me the salt, love?” at breakfast to a suggestive look that was directed directly at Sirius’ not very subtle erection followed by raised eyebrows as if to say “for me? I’m flattered.”

Yeah, it was safe to say that he was having a good time. What was even better was that Sirius was as oblivious as James when it came to the whole situation, though Remus still felt a little insulted for his flirting skills, which he knew were immaculate. Teasing Sirius was still way more fun than just telling him, who was Remus, if not a tease?

One day at dinner, though, even James figured out what was going on.

It started with Remus being late to dinner after he hadn’t noticed the time go by because he was in a writing flow for his history essay due next week. He sat for approximately 0.6 seconds before James raised an eyebrow at him, “Not sleeping around again are we, Moony?”

Remus started laughing, because what he was doing at the moment was the exact opposite of sleeping around. He answered James, still laughing, “Nah, I just didn't notice the time flying by”

James eyebrow didn’t show any signs of lowering itself, causing Remus to roll his eyes before coming to a decision, why not tease Sirius even more while he was at it? “Speaking of sleeping around though, I’ve got my eye on someone actually, just gotta wait until they manage to work it out themselves that their feelings aren’t unanswered.”

Said Sirius’ head snapped up from his plate, looking at Remus all confused, which was very adorable from Remus’ point of view. “Work it out themselves? How could a person be daft enough to not notice Remus Lupin fancying them?”

Remus had to suppress his laughter to answer him, “I dunno, you tell me.” He shot James a smug look, suggestively shrugging his eyebrows at him, as if to say, ‘get it?’

James took a moment, looking at him confused. He didn’t get it until Peter leaned over, whispering, “He’s talking about Sirius.” James’ mouth didn’t close until dinner was over

After nudging Peter in a thankful maner, he finished their exchange by winking at Sirius. He finished his food early, stood up and excused himself back to the library again.

Friday the 17th of December 1976

It was the evening of the last day of school before the winter holidays were supposed to begin, and the marauders had just returned from dinner.

Remus excused himself to the shower, claiming that Sirius could do his all nightly 23-step skin- and hair care routine after all of them were in bed. Though Remus couldn’t deny that it did make Sirius look like some kind of Greek god reincarnated.

Outside the bathroom, Peter looked up at Sirius from his half packed trunk, confused, “Why aren’t you packing, Padfoot?”

James hurried to explain before Sirius could even process the question,  “I’m going to India with my parents, one of my cousins is getting married so he can’t stay at ours this time.”

Sirius, who had caught up by now, proceeded to drape himself over James dramatically, holding a hand to his forehead as if he was a Victorian child dying of the flu. “Yup, Prongs is abandoning me here.”

They laughed, James pushing Sirius to the ground, “Damn Padfoot, you’ve still got Moony here haven’t you?”

Remus, who had just exited the bathroom, raised his eyebrows at Sirius teasingly. “What? Scared of being alone with me?” He winked at Sirius and got to get his clothes from his bed.

The last thing he saw were James and Peter, looking like they were about to throw something at Sirius to make him realise that he was being blatantly flirted with. He offered them an apologetic look before disappearing into the bathroom again.

Wednesday the 29th of December 1976

Remus and Sirius had spent the last 2 weeks together, and Sirius still didn’t show any signs of telling Remus what he already knew. Remus was even debating if he should make the first move, which would be terribly unsatisfying after teasing and waiting for Sirius for so long, but at this point he was willing to do anything.

However, he didn’t have to wait much longer, because after they had yet another boring lunch together with the 5 other students who didn’t go home for Christmas, Sirius suddenly grabbed Remus by the wrist and pulled him up the stairs to Gryffindor tower.

“Pads, are you alright?”

They had reached their dorm and Remus sat on his bed, staring at a very stressed looking Sirius, who was pacing back and forth before him. He didn’t show any signs of coming to rest any time soon, so Remus stood up and grabbed Sirius’ shoulders, forcing him to stand still and look him in the eyes. He was hoping that Sirius had finally come to the decision to tell him, because frankly, Remus was getting frustrated.

Remus was about to open his mouth when Sirius seemed to take a deep breath and looked him in the eyes.

“I have a massive crush on you, have had for a year now, and I think I will explode if I don’t tell you this now.”

A wave of relief hit Remus, and before he could help himself, he said “My god, finally!” and grabbed Sirius by the waist and pulled him in for a kiss.

And what a feeling that was, kissing Sirius Black:

He could finally roam his fingers through that black, shiny hair, cup that, beautiful, no fuck that, ethereal face with his own two hands.

He could finally lead both of them to his bed, sit down and pull Sirius onto his lap, everything without breaking their kiss for one second

It was so easy to forget everything around him, when his lips were pressed against the lips of the hottest and most adorable motherfucker in the entirety of Hogwarts. Sadly, he couldn’t ignore that breathing was a thing, so he did have to pull away after all.

He cupped Sirius’ face once more, resting his own forehead against Sirius’, when he finally spoke again, not without a mischievous smile: “ I’m so glad you finally had the courage to tell me

Hold on– what?

The look on Sirius’ face was priceless, confused. He leaned back, looking Remus in the eyes, who could not hold back his laugh anymore. “ You’re not exactly subtle, darling. ”

Sirius’ mouth opened, and it didn’t look like it would be closing any time soon.

“Come on, baby, put some faith in me.”

When he finally did close his mouth, it didn’t take too long for him to open it once again and start with, “I’ve fancied you for so long.”

Remus laughed at him and commented, “Oh, I know.” While Sirius seemed unbothered and continued.

“And then I finally gathered the courage to tell you.”

Remus laughingly interrupted him once again, “Took you long enough.”

“And you already know?”

“As I said, you’re not exactly subtle. Are you done complaining now, or can we continue this?” Sirius' face flushed, and Remus found that his face looked much better like this when it was right there, a few inches away from his own, than it did across the common room. He couldn’t suppress a smug grin before he pulled Sirius down for another kiss.

And what an experience that was, having Sirius Black beneath him and looking like he was ready to do anything in his power to get Remus to fuck him until he was seeing stars. And who was Remus to deny him that?

Suddenly he was glad that they were the only Gryffindors staying in Hogwarts over the holidays, because it was safe to say that both of them were not in their right minds to perform a silencing charm anymore.

Later, they lay in bed together, limbs still tangled together and breaths still hot, both looking at each other with nothing but utter adoration in their eyes.

Remus, after pressing a short kiss onto Sirius’ nose, asked him “Padfoot?”

“Yeah?”

“I’m sorry that I was teasing you for half a year instead of just telling you that I’m head over heels for you, too.”

Sirius laughed at that, burying himself deeper in the crook of Remus’ neck. “You don’t have to apologize for that. I really was an oblivious shit, looking at it in hindsight.”

Remus didn’t have the chance to answer because after his lips were pulled into a quick kiss, Sirius was already talking again . “Head over heels for me, are you, huh?”

“At least I did something about it.” Remus raised an eyebrow at him, challenging him.

Sirius’ face reddened, and he once again buried himself in Remus’ neck. “Fuck, I can’t look at you when you do that.”

“What?”  Sirius seemed… embarrassed? “The raised eyebrow.” He explained quickly.

“My eyebrow? You’ve got a thing for my raised eyebrow?” Remus couldn’t hold back his laughter anymore, he knew he was conventionally attractive, but his eyebrow? That was new.

Sirius looked up at him, still embarrassed. Remus didn’t waste a single second before wiggling his eyebrows at him, and suddenly Sirius disappeared in Remus’ neck again.

Remus was going to have a way better time, now that he knew how to make Sirius fold in an instant.

Sunday the 2nd of January 1977

It was the very last day of the holidays, and James and Peter were planned to return in the evening. Remus and Sirius spent their last hours of silence cuddled up in Remus’ bed, whispering sweet nothings in each other's ears while drifting in and out of sleep, not a single worry about anything to be seen.

Although, as the evening, and with that the return of James and Peter, moved closer, Sirius seemed to get more concerned, and 30 minutes before their estimated arrival, he finally spoke up. “Moony?”

Remus opened his eyes, finding Sirius looking at him, looking all worried. “What’s bothering you, love?”

“What do we tell James and Peter about... y'know... Us?”

A mischievous smile found itself on Remus’ face before he answered him, “Don’t you worry about that, love, I’ve got it all sorted out”

Sirius looked at him confused but didn’t say anything, he didn’t have to wait for long to find out what Remus was talking about.

Remus had picked up a book to read from his bedside table, and Sirius was snoozing on his chest when he heard James’ voice in front of the door.

“Padfoot, if I open this door and you are anywhere that isn’t in Moony’s arms and you still haven’t figured your shit out, then I have special permission to dropkick you out of the window, is that clear?”

Sirius looked up at Remus, who just winked at him and continued reading his book. James, who had just dramatically opened the door, was screaming at Sirius not a second later.

“MY GOD, FINALLY! Do you know how it is to watch Moony blatantly flirting with you while you sit there, oblivious to the bloody world?” Peter entered the room behind him. “I second that.”

Sirius buried himself further into Remus, embarrassedly asking him, “Was I really that bad?”

“Don’t worry about it, you’re cute when you’re oblivious.

Sirius groaned into Remus, “That’s not helping me, Moony.”

“I never said that I’m on your side.”

“Fuck you.”

“That’s not what it sounded like three hours ago.”

Remus just grinned at James and Peter across the room, and that was that.
