Chapter Text
The trees rustled their leaves as the breeze pushed against them, making a calming, symphonic, sound. The birds were singing, flowers bloomed underneath the golden sun. The forest around MT. Ebott was so peaceful and beautiful. However, not everything was peaceful. A young goat monster ran with a human in his arms. He was covered in his own dust, arrows piercing the skin underneath his fur. He was crying, his magic disappearing with every passing moment. He was going to die. Just like his sibling. He couldn't do what they had promised each other. The monster ran, until his pursuers caught up with him. Humans. They raised their guns, swords, and spears in his direction, ready to kill him. He shut his eyes tightly, ready for the attack.
“Asriel!” A voice shouted. Asriel opened his eyes to see Spart, the captain of his father's Royal Guard. He was a fish monster, with red hair braided down his head. His armor shone against the sun, and he had summoned his magic spear, blocking an attack from a human with a sword. Start looked back at him, his eyes showing determination. “Go with Gerson! Now!” He commanded. Asriel looked behind him, and there stood monster soldiers, all with their magic at the ready and weapons unsheathed. Gerson, the oldest monster of the group, took Asriel into his arms and held him protectively. “I've got you kiddy. Just stay close to me” He Said in his raspy voice. He was a turtle monster, and a good fighter too. The humans didn't waste any more time. They attacked the monsters, their eyes showing determination.
And so the battle began. Spart led the battalion of monster soldiers in battle, while Gerson fled with Asriel, dying in his arms. Spart looked over to his second in command, Serenade. She was a skeleton monster, and the youngest. She had excelled in her training, and even beat him at one point. “Serenade! Lead the others through the trees! Split them up! Take them out one- by one!” Spart ordered her. She nodded, narrowing her eye sockets. Serenade looked at the other soldiers and whistled. “Let's go boys!” She used her magic to summon a Blaster.
The Blaster was a large skeletal creature, with a long tail and dragon-like qualities, just no wings. It roars and she mounts it with ease. She rides off into the forest, drawing the attention of a few humans. A few monster soldiers follow after, and the chase is on…
“Just hold on your Highness, everything will be alright,” Gerson said, cradling the young prince in his arms. He was already losing so much dust. “We are almost to the barrier.
Asriel leaned into him, crying. “I'm sorry… I'm sorry…” he cries. Gerson ran as fast as he could. He had to try and get him back. They finally made it to the cave in Mt. Ebott, the barrier. The barrier was cracked, but mending itself. Gerson knew that he had to get through it fast. He held onto Asriel tightly, before pushing through the slightly broken barrier.
He gasped when he came out the other side. Gosh it hurt. He felt pain flood his body. He winced as he took steps toward the throne room. “Your Majesty! I have him!” Gerson called out. King Asgore, a taller goat monster with larger horns and a beard, rushes out of the throne room followed by his wife Toriel. The two rush to him, worried faces and all. “Asriel!” Asgore says as he takes his child from Gerson's arms. Toriel starts to sob. Asriel isn't conscious. He's dusting, his body dissolving. The little human in his arms remains cold and lifeless, their hair covering their eyes.
Asgore kneels with his children in his arms. Toriel kneels next to him, and she tries to heal her son. But, he's too far gone. His body disappears, replaced by a pile of dust in his father's arms. The King and Queen cry, their hearts broken. They had lost their children… in one day. From the doorway, sniffles and muffled sobs can be heard. Gerson looks up and sees Serenade's little brothers.
Sans was holding his little brother, Papyrus, who was sobbing into his jacket. Sans had tears rolling down his cheekbones, his eyelights gone from his eye sockets. He just held his brother tight. He looked up at Gerson. Gerson remembered the others, and turned to the barrier. The last crack had mended, restoring the barrier. They were trapped once again… and the soldiers on the other side, were on the surface…
