Work Text:
It had been almost a month since Shielda locked them in that room.
A month since stepping out of that room and getting a quote by quote "About fucking time" from Fang.
And a shovel talk from Shielda.
A month since everything cracked open —since Kaizo stopped running from what was obvious.
Now, they are something.
Not labeled, not broadcasted across the station —except for the nosy few who figured it out from Sai’s stupidly smug expressions and Kaizo’s sudden tolerance for physical affection.
But something.
Quiet.
Safe.
Real.
Kaizo likes it.
But now, whenever is Sai curled up next to him on the couch or leaned against his side in the mess hall or tangled their fingers together under the table —Kaizo doesn't pull away.
He welcomed it.
Craved it, even.
And now he wanted something more.
A kiss.
A real one.
And not just one of those impulsive forehead presses Sai did when he was sleepy, or the time he’d mumbled, “good luck” and pecked the corner of Kaizo’s mouth before a mission.
Kaizo wants to kiss him like they meant it.
The problem?
Kaizo didn’t know how to ask.
It wasn’t that he didn’t know how to kiss.
Technically. He understood the mechanics.
In theory. He just… didn’t know how to ask Sai for it without sounding —
Desperate?
Awkward?
Like he’d been thinking about it for days?
Because he had.
Sai is lying on his stomach in Kaizo’s quarters now, chin resting on a pillow, reading some ancient comic from Earth.
Then he glanced up, blinking slowly.
“You’re staring again.”
“I’m always staring.”
Sai grinned. “You’re always weird when you’re staring.”
Kaizo opened his mouth.
Then closed it.
Sai raised a brow. “What?”
“Nothing.”
“Liar.”
Kaizo crossed his arms, standing at the foot of the bed. “I want something.”
Sai perked up. “Oh? Is this where you finally admit you want cuddles without me initiating?”
“No.”
“So you do want cuddles?”
“No —well —yes. But not that.”
Sai tilted his head.
Sitting up to properly face Kaizo.
"I —" Kaizo exhaled.
I want to kiss you
"Yeah, I want cuddles" Kaizo said in defeat —to this day, he still couldn't find the courage to say it out loud.
Sai grinned —putting the comic he's holding aside
With a mischievous grin, Sai tugged Kaizo towards him by the wrist, causing him to stumble and slightly before Kaizo's head landed on Sai's lap.
Sai laughter filled the quiet room —And by the stars, Kaizo's heart skipped a beat.
It was like hearing the most beautiful song —the sound is so pure and unguarded.
Something vulnerable that only existed between them.
Kaizo burying himself into Sai, wrapping his arms around Sai's waist.
"C'mon Kai" Sai crooned —pulling Kaizo close as plopped back down.
Sai's back hit the bed —dragging Kaizo with him.
Their legs tangled into one another, forehead brushing.
"Hi" Sai whispered, his fingers traced lazy circles on Kaizo's back.
Kaizo didn't say anything yet he has a gentle smile on his face.
His eyes locked on Sai's, then for a second it dropped to his lips.
Sai's lips were slightly parted, warm and impossibly close, with the kind of softness that make Kaizo wonder how they'd feel against his own.
But instead he pulled Sai closer.
Sai didn't pull away, instead he curled into Kaizo, his head resting on his chest as he wraps his arms around him.
Feeling the rise and fall of Sai's breathing against him lulled Kaizo, a silent rhythm that felt like home.
Yeah —he didn't mange to kiss Sai but having him by arms was enough.
Or so he thought.
The mission was a success.
Clean, swift, and surprisingly without any explosions —much to Sai’s disappointment.
Kaizo’s team had joined BoBoiBoy and the others on Earth to handle a dimensional rift situation just outside the Pulau Rintis.
It was handled quickly thanks to coordinated effort and Kaizo’s ability to bark orders like a space general with a migraine.
They were already prepping the ship, ready to return to space when Tok Aba, in his usual warm and impossible-to-decline way, invited them all to stay a little longer and treat them with drinks at 'Tok Aba and Boboiboy's Kokotiam'.
“A short rest won’t hurt,” he’d said, smiling like he already knew the answer.
And really, who could say no to Tok Aba?
Certainly not Kaizo.
Not even Fang dared.
So they stayed.
Just for a bit.
Their surroundings felt lighter for once.
Sai is already running around with BoBoiBoy and Gopal, dragging Fang with him, and somehow Xyron —who looked so out of place.
Shielda is with Yaya and Ying —they said they'd be having a "girl talk" whatever that means.
The sun is bright, the air warm, and Earth… Earth was oddly peaceful.
Kaizo stood at one of the chairs in Tok Aba's shop, arms crossed, watching them all from a distance.
For once, the weight on his shoulders had lessened.
For once, he allowed himself to breathe.
And then, the trouble began with a paper cup of shaved ice.
Tok Aba had everyone gathered around his shop, giving each of person a mound of fluffy, snow-like ice soaked in syrup, with creamy condensed milk dripping down its sides —bright, cold, and glowing under the summer sun.
Ochobot excitedly chimmed in and called it —Shaved Ice Supreme, The newest summer special, perfect for a hot summer day.
With the sun blazing overhead and a rare quiet moment on Earth, it was the perfect cooldown.
BoBoiBoy had gone for bright red strawberry.
Fang, ever the edgy one, had taken blue raspberry.
Sai had mango, Shielda had lemon.
Xyron had blue raspberry as well.
And Kaizo he had… well, Kaizo hadn’t touched his.
He had an apple flavor one —but honestly he only picked it because it's green
And besides Kaizo is too busy watching Sai like he was the dessert.
Everything is peaceful.
Normal.
For once, no screaming, no alien attacks, no awkward romantic tension threatening to implode.
That was… until Gopal —bless him —spoke.
“Tok Aba, is there another flavor? Like… maybe grape or something?”
Tok Aba blinked, wiping his hands on a towel. “Nope! Just the five you see here. No purple.”
A beat.
Then Gopal, loud and innocent. “Eh? Then how come BoBoiBoy and Fang’s tongues are purple?
Silence.
The world paused.
Somewhere, a spoon clinked dramatically against a cup.
BoBoiBoy and Fang froze mid-bite.
Sai nearly choked on his mango ice, eyes wide. Shielda didn’t even blink—her eyes zeroed in on them like she’d just spotted a threat.
Ying gasped quietly.
Yaya furrowed her brows. “…Wait, red and blue makes—ohhhh.”
Xyron didn't even blinked.
Kaizo stopped on his tracks.
BoBoiBoy’s face turned very red.
Fang coughed and looked away.
Gopal still looked confused. “Wait… does that mean they—?”
BoBoiBoy slammed his cup down. “WE SHARED SHAVED ICE, OKAY?!”
Fang hissed, “Stop talking, you’re making it worse.”
Ying is giggling.
Shielda is already taking pictures.
Sai had buried his face in his hands, trying not to laugh, shoulders shaking.
Kaizo glanced at Fang, then BoBoiBoy.
He opened and close his mouth.
"C-Captain it's not like that!" Boboiboy stammers —his entire face burned bright red.
"We —woah!" Before he could speak further Fang stood up, grabbed BoBoiBoy by the wrist, and dragged him out of the Kokotaim like he was hauling a civilian away from an incoming meteor.
BoBoiBoy yelped mid-stumble, “Fang, let me explain—!”
“No,” Fang muttered, pace brisk, “we’re not doing this. We’re leaving.”
“Wait! My shaved ice —!”
“Leave it. It’s evidence.”
And just like that, they vanished around the corner.
The silence that followed was broken by an explosive, uncontrollable fit of laughter from Sai.
He doubled over, mango shaved ice nearly flinging from his hand as he cackled like someone just told the funniest joke in the universe.
“Oh my stars —did you see their faces?!” Sai wheezed, lightly slapping Shielda’s arm.
“They froze like someone caught them committing war crimes!”
Shielda smirked but remained composed. “I give it three days before they stop pretending they ‘just shared a spoon.’”
Ying nodded with a playful grin. “Honestly? Should we really be surprised? They've been dating for years now.”
Gopal nodded along "That's true."
"Yet they both act like they just started dating." Yaya sighed.
"Those two really can't keep their hands to themselves" Xyron remarked amused by the whole situation.
Tok Aba just let out a smile.
Kaizo, meanwhile, hadn’t moved.
He stared at his untouched cup of apple shaved ice.
Thoughtful.
Quiet.
Looking back at Sai, who's chattering and laughing with Shielda and Xyron.
His lips moving faster than Kaizo could keep up with —but if you look close enough, Sai's tongue had became the color yellow —due to the mango shaved Ice.
Kaizo then looked down at his own dessert, he took a spoonful of it.
It's cold —but the flavor is stronger than he expected, it's a weird taste but it's welcomed.
The Ice melted on his tongue —Kaizo asked himself how long the color will stay.
He glance back at Sai, he seems to be teasing Xyron about something —sticking his tongue out like a little kid, laughing without a care in the world.
Kaizo wondered what color would appear if they mixed green with yellow.
Kaizo shook his head.
Kaizo really doesn't know why he started think that way —the way his thoughts became nothing more than just want.
But everything in Kaizo is tuned to Sai.
Kaizo's eyes catch Sai's just for a moment too long, and it's like the silence between them hums.
Kaizo thought about what it would be like.
Sai's mouth. How it might feel against his —soft or urgent, warm or trembling.
Kaizo wonder if Sai would kiss him back, or if he'd freeze, or maybe melt.
Kaizo wonder what Sai taste like.
Kaizo wondered if he would even survive it.
The time passes by like a blur to Kaizo.
Tok Aba insisted that they stay the night —And Kaizo would be an idiot to refuse Tok Aba.
So here they are at one of the guests room in Tok Aba's house.
Shielda is with Yaya and Ying —something about a girl's night.
Gopal dragged Xyron to his house when he learned that he can cook.
Fang disappears into Boboiboy's room —that's not really surprising.
But now it's just him and Sai.
Sai is laying on the bed talking about his conversation with Xyron moments prior.
Kaizo is seated next to him.
Honestly —this is nothing new, Sai would often barged into his room and would make himself at home.
Everything should just be normal.
Except… there was one thing Kaizo could never quite suppress.
Every time he looked at Sai something stirred inside him.
A quiet, persistent ache that settled just beneath his skin.
It didn't matter if Sai was laughing with the others, deep in thought, or throwing a smug grin his way —Kaizo would feel it every time.
The urge to kiss him.
Just a glance, and suddenly Kaizo’s thoughts would spiral —wondering what it would feel like to press his lips against Sai’s, to finally close the unbearable distance between them.
It wasn’t just desire —it was something softer too, something unspoken that curled itself around his heart and refused to let go.
Sai is talking, rambling about something Kaizo isn’t even paying attention to anymore, because all he could focus on was the curve of his mouth, the way his eyes sparkled when he's passionate, or how his voice dropped when he's serious.
Kaizo wanted to kiss him, gently —slowly, like a secret only the two of them could share.
And stars, he really wants to close the distance between them.
Sai turned to Kaizo laughing about something —his face drops slightly when he realizes Kaizo wasn't paying attention. "....You good, Kaizo? You look —distracted."
Kaizo blinked slowly. "I'm fine"
Pause.
"Hey....tell me what's wrong" Sai urged him to speak, his voice gentle and soft as he takes Kaizo hands in his.
"I want to do something to you." Kaizo spoke before his brain could catch up.
Sai paused for a moment his face dusted with a faint blush. "...like what..?"
Kaizo tried to look away but Sai kept him in his place —honestly he could pull away, his far more stronger than Sai, but does he actually want to?
Not really.
Not when Sai is looking at him with those —eyes.
Kaizo breath hitched —Sai is getting closer to closer to him, if this goes on, Kaizo might actually lose control.
"Tell me what you want, Kai." Sai's voice is husky a murmur in his ear.
And the last string of Kaizo's self control broke —His body moving on it's own faster than he could ever imagine.
And before Kaizo could even stop himself he grabbed Sai by his face and pulled him closer —kissing Sai.
Sai let out a muffled, startled noise, his brain short-circuiting as Kaizo kisses him like a man starved. Like he's been waiting forever for this moment.
One of Kaizo's arms wrapped around Sai's waist, pulling him so that Sai is sitting on his lap, straddling Kaizo —Kaizo's hand are firm agaist Sai's waist, like he's afraid that if he let go he might lose him.
So instead Kaizo pulled Sai even closer.
Deepening the kiss like Kaizo wants to claim Sai.
Like Kaizo needed Sai more than air.
Kaizo is now devouring Sai like a starving man, like he's making up for every single second he held himself back.
Kaizo pulled Sai impossibly close, and his kisses are deep, desperate, overwhelming.
Sai barely has time to think —Kaizo isn't even giving him a chance.
Sai tries to pull back for air, to maybe ask what the hell has gotten into Kaizo, but Kaizo just chases after him, lips finding him again in an instant —not letting him go.
Sai let out a muffled, breathless sound against Kaizo's lips, his brain struggling to process everything.
Sai barely manages to gasp for air between Kaizo’s relentless kisses, his mind spinning, lungs burning.
He tries to push against Kaizo’s chest—not to stop him, but just to breathe.
“Kaizo —” Sai barely gets out before Kaizo kisses him again, completely ignoring his attempt to speak.
Sai’s dizzy.
His brain isn’t working, and —god, Kaizo, let him breathe!
With the last bit of strength he has, Sai finally grabs Kaizo’s face and pulls back.
There’s a brief pause —both of them breathing heavily, faces inches apart.
Sai stares at him, wide-eyed, dazed, and completely overwhelmed.
Kaizo just looks disappointed at the sudden loss of contact, like he wants to keep going.
“Kaizo" Sai pants, still trying to catch his breath, still processing what just happened. “I —what was that?”
Kaizo stares at Sai for a long moment.
Then he let out a sigh, burying his head in Sai's neck.
".. I'm sorry —I couldn't control myself."
Sai wants to get mad at Kaizo —really he does.
But, he can't not when Kaizo's voice is so soft, so genuine.
"You know you could at least, ask first?" Sai offered gently, running his fingers through Kaizo's hair, twirling a strand around his fingers.
Kaizo tensed. "...I don't know how to ask for it."
Sai's eyes widen for a moment, but then he chuckled.
Kaizo looked up at him in confused.
"You could say," Sai started, eyes gleaming, "Sai, I require a tactical exchange of affection. Please engaged."
Kaizo looked at Sai like he'd grown another head. "That's ridiculous."
Sai laughed. "Kidding —Kidding"
Sai learned in. "Then how about this —if you can't say it, show it."
Kaizo tilted his head. "Huh?"
"Tap your lips three times" Sai said in confident. "If you do that I'll know that you want a kiss —then vise versa!" He added excitedly.
"Really?" Kaizo asked.
"Yeah —like this!" Sai then proceeded to tap his lips three times.
"That's the part where you're supposed to kiss me" Sai smirked. "Again"
Sai tapped his lips three times once more.
And this time —Kaizo got the hint and kiss him gently.
Sai kissed him back with the same enthusiasm —before pulling back to look at Kaizo.
"See? It's that easy." Sai giggled.
Kaizo let out a small chuckled. "Yeah"
Although there's a question on his mind.
"What if I want you to kiss my cheek, can I still tap it three times for you to kiss me?"
Kaizo asked tilting his head, like a little kid.
"Of course, It's not limited to just in the lips, I can tap my any part of myself three times and you have to kiss it." Sai smirked before wrapping his arms around Kaizo, brushing his forehead against him.
Kaizo just smile as he welcomed the embrace.
For a moment the two of them stayed like that.
Then Sai spoke up. "Kaizo, I have to ask —where did you learn how to kiss like that? Did you have an ex-boyfriend or an ex-girlfriend, That I didn't know about?" He said said locking eyes with Kaizo, Sai's eyes filled with mischief.
"No —actually you're my first kiss." Kaizo said with no hesitation.
Sai pulled away to properly look at Kaizo.
"Are you serious?!" Sai exclaimed. "That was your first kiss??"
"Yeah —I seemed to remember exclusively telling you that I've never been in a relationship." Kaizo replied with a smile.
"I KNOW! —But I didn't think that would be your first —!" Sai backtracked, then catching his breath.
Sai buries himself on Kaizo's chest. "...So your telling me.. I'm your first kiss and first boyfriend?" Sai asked —Kaizo can feel Sai's heart beating faster by the second.
"Sai you are my first in everything" Kaizo whispered so that Sai would be the only to hear it, like a secret between them.
Kaizo strokes Sai's hair. "And I know —you'll be my last too."
Kaizo's voice as gentle as it could be.
Sai didn't say anything —but Kaizo could see the tips of his ears burned red —And the grip Sai had around Kaizo tighten.
Kaizo smiled softly at Sai, He himself knows that he's not lying, Sai will be his first and only Love.
