How could I...?

Summary:

For as long as Ramenman could remember, he’d loved Kaizo.

It wasn’t loud or dramatic —it simply was.

From the moment they met, something in him shifted, anchored itself to Kaizo like gravity.

But Kaizo?

Kaizo was a fortress. Quiet, unreadable, closed off in a way that made romance feel like a distant language. He wasn’t cruel, just... unreachable. Love, relationships, all that tenderness—they weren’t part of his world. Ramenman knew this. He accepted it, even when it stung.

Kaizo couldn't fall in love. That was the truth Ramenman made peace with.

So why —why did Kaizo looked at him like that?

Notes:

Shout out to that one headcanon/theory that said Kaizo and Ramenman are former students of Maskmana and said that they have some sort of teammate/rivalry dynamic.

I forgot where I read that but that inspired me to write this! (≡^∇^≡)

Also again, I apologize for the Ramenzo shippers that came —they are not going to be together at the end. 🥺

Chapter 1: Let's Go!

Chapter Text

It started with an emergency signal.

A sharp alert pierced through the stillness of TEMPUR-A's command room, flickering red across the main screen.

"Incoming transmission: TAPOPS Station requests immediate backup."

The atmosphere shifted instantly.

Officers scrambled into motion, systems lit up, and protocols kicked in.

The message was clear —TAPOPS Station is under attack.

The commander’s voice rang out, steady and decisive. “Get Captain Ramenman. Now.”

Within moments, Ramenman entered the room, battle-ready as always.

But when he heard the details, a spark of something else lit up behind his confident grin.

Not joy at the crisis —he isn’t that heartless —but something undeniably eager stirred in his chest.

“Kaizo…” he muttered under his breath, just loud enough for the commander to hear.

It wasn’t the emergency that thrilled him —it's the opportunity.

It had been far too long since he’d seen the ever-stoic Legendary Space Rebel that is Captain Kaizo.

And if fate is giving him a reason to cross paths again?

Well, Ramenman isn’t about to waste it.

Upon arrival, the scene was chaos.

The TAPOPS Station —is in ruins.

Walls stood half-torn, with jagged edges and broken panels barely clinging to their frames.

Exposed wires sparked from the ceiling like angry lightning, illuminating the smoke-filled air in erratic flashes.

Everywhere he looked, Ramenman saw familiar faces locked in battle.

The TAPOPS members, bloodied but unyielding, were fighting tooth and nail to protect the Power Spheres.

No time for greetings.

No time to ask what happened.

Ramenman and his crew leapt into action, weapons drawn, shields raised, diving into the fray without hesitation.

The mission was clear.

Protect the Power Spheres.

Protect TAPOPS Station.

And find Kaizo.

Ramenman spotted him through the smoke and chaos —Kaizo, unmistakable in the way he moved, slicing clean through an enemy with the precision only years of training could sharpen.

But it isn’t Kaizo who caught Ramenman’s attention this time.

Fighting beside him is someone else —a striking figure with auburn brown hair and piercing emerald eyes that glinted even through the debris.

A conical hat sat snug atop his head, its wide brim casting a sharp silhouette against the flashing light of battle.

Ramenman blinked.

He’s seen him before... right?

A face in the crowd at TAPOPS Station, a name on the tip of his tongue—What was it again..?

He didn’t get the chance to finish the thought.

A blast suddenly tore through the air, headed straight for him.

Ramenman twisted out of the way just in time —but before he could recover, another shot came, faster than the first.

His eyes widened.

Too fast. He couldn’t —

Then something flew across his vision, a blur of motion cutting through the air.

The blast was blocked, deflected by a solid force.

Ramenman looked up.

It was the same conical hat—that same pretty boy’s hat —now hovering between him and the enemy like a guardian.

As the attack faded, the hat spun on its axis and zipped back through the air, landing cleanly in the boy’s hand like a boomerang.

Ramenman stared.

So the conical hat is a… shield? A shield shaped like a conical hat —cool.

The pretty boy is the first to reach him, feet light against the battered floor as he dashed toward Ramenman.

"Are you all right, Captain Ramenman?" he asked, voice soft and gentle—a stark contrast to the chaos around them.

Up close, the boy's features were even more striking.

Thick lower lashes framed his bright emerald eyes, and below each one, three small dots marked his skin like constellations.

That face —he definitely isn’t just a passing memory anymore.

Ramenman offered a crooked smile. "It's all good" he replied, waving it off like it's nothing.

But before he could say more, a familiar cold voice cut through the battlefield. "We asked TEMPUR-A for rescue —not the other way around."

Ramenman didn’t even need to turn to know who it was.

He rolled his eyes with exaggerated flair. “You really hate working with us, huh?”

Kaizo, as expected, didn’t dignify it with much more than a grumble.

Instead, he turned back toward the enemy lines, sword in hand, preparing for the next wave.

Ramenman only chuckled.

He's used to this by now —Kaizo's attitude is part of the package.

So with a grin tugging at his lips, he mirrored the Captain’s stance and readied himself too.

Side by side again. Just like old times.

Well —except there’s a pretty fella next to them now.

But hey —Ramenman isn’t complaining.

The battle didn’t last much longer.

With reinforcements from TEMPUR-A and the fierce resistance of TAPOPS, the tide quickly turned.

The attackers —once confident and relentless —were now faltering, overwhelmed by the sheer force of unity between both teams.

Then the message came through.

“Their leader has fallen —BoBoiBoy and his friends took him down.”

The words spread like wildfire across the comms, igniting a surge of hope and adrenaline through the defenders.

It was only a matter of time now.

And when the dust finally settled, victory is theirs.

Not a single Power Sphere had been harmed or stolen.

Not a single member of TAPOPS or TEMPUR-A had fallen.

They had fought, bled, and stood together —and not one life was lost.

They had won.

Cheers echoed through the battered halls of TAPOPS Station.

Relief, laughter, and pride filled the air.

Amidst the rubble and ruin, they had protected what mattered most.

And for a moment, everything felt right.

Until it wasn’t.

Though the enemies had been defeated and the Power Spheres remained untouched, TAPOPS now faced a different kind of crisis —one they couldn't fight their way out of.

The station is in ruins.

Walls barely standing, entire sections collapsed, wires still sparking, and not a single unscathed corner left.

The once-proud base was reduced to a fractured shell, barely capable of sheltering its own people.

And the wounded —there are too many of them.

They needed rest, treatment, stability.

Among them, one stood out.

The pretty boy.

Ramenman had seen it happen.

The way the boy —Xyron, he’d called out —threw himself in front of a younger cadet.

A massive blast had struck him straight on, leaving his arm twisted and burnt.

Ramenman knew why the boy hadn’t used his weapon.

His shield —cleverly disguised as that conical hat —is already in use, shielding both him and Kaizo in the middle of the fight.

When the cadet was targeted, there was no time to recall it.

So the boy used himself instead.

And even with one arm nearly out of commission, the pretty boy had kept fighting.

That, Ramenman had to admit —that earned his respect.

But something else struck him as odd.

Kaizo had told him —not once, but multiple times—to stand down.

To stop.

To rest before the injury worsened.

And the boy had ignored him.

Flat-out ignored a direct order from the Captain of TAPOPS.

Now, Ramenman had known Kaizo for a long time.

Orders from him were like law.

Anyone under his command obeyed —immediately.

Rank didn’t matter.

Even Fang, his own brother, had caught heat for disobedience before.

But Kaizo didn’t blow up this time.

He didn’t even look like he wanted to kill the boy.

Annoyed? Sure.

Tense? Obviously.

But not furious.

Not the usual cold-blooded fury he lashed out with when someone defied him.

That's…weird.

Who exactly is this pretty boy, Ramenman thought, watching as Kaizo silently walked beside him —gaze sharp, unreadable —as medics finally ushered the boy toward the infirmary.

And since when does Kaizo ever let someone disobey him without a fight?

Notes:

Not gonna lie I used to be a Ramenzo shipper when I first started the show, and then I don't know what happened, but I just drop it and the show all together.

Then Boboiboy Gentar releases and I'm like let's re-watch the show, and to no ones surprised BoiFang is still one of my favorite ship.

But then out of nowhere my brain is like —ship Kaizo and Sai.

And I did, I went from shipping two people who barely interacted with one another to two people who never once interacted with each other.

And you know the best part? I don't regret a thing
