The Games Detectives Play

Summary:

And another informant.

Notes:

I see Stiles as being 18/19 in this fic.

Grass is slang for an informant in the UK.

Work Text:

Life was interesting sometimes, well not necessarily interesting, but in this case it was definitely something.

He, obviously, knew the kid that was sat in front of him, else he wouldn’t have been here.  His bosses weren’t beyond using previous cases or his past against him.  It tended to be one of the reasons his solve rate was as high as it was.  And it wasn’t like he minded, after all business was business and if you were the wrong side of the law mundane or supernatural it wasn’t his fault.

It wasn’t like revenge came in to it, really.  He was a professional.

So having Stilinski’s kid in front of him was just one of those things.

“So …”

The muttered ‘not the Detective Hale I was expecting’ was somewhat amusing, or would be in different circumstances.  There was a deep breath and then a slew of words.  Which basically amounted to the kid’s father being in trouble because McCall was an idiot, and a criminal idiot at that.

Asking a few questions in the right direction had their latest informant giving up more useful information about Beacon Hills than the kid knew.

In truth, once they’d sorted out this particular mess, Sheriff Stilinski was probably going to metaphorically kill his kid.  The boy was in so much trouble.

But that wasn’t his problem.  He was just going to use the information he’d been given and suggest to the Sheriff that his son might be useful to them.

Suggest rather heavily.
