Work Text:
Jin had been an avid gamer ever since he was a little kid and had discovered the wonders of Mario. Though his hand-eye coordination wasn’t exactly stellar, practice had made him an extremely skilled gamer.
Much like most Friday evenings, he was sprawled in his living room playing Mario, waiting for his boyfriend to come home. Yoongi often worked late and Jin was usually asleep by the time the other came home. But tonight, Yoongi had promised that he would be home early so that they could spend so well-needed time together.
Jin sighed as he glanced at the wall clock briefly before returning to his game, Yoongi was already late but Jin could never get mad at him, he knew how much Yoongi loved music and spending time in the studio as well as important his deadlines were but even so…he missed spending time with his boyfriend.
When they had first started dating, they had spent all their time together, never getting enough of one another. Even now Jin’s heart sped up a little every time he saw Yoongi.
Suddenly the door opened and Yoongi entered, hair mussed and looking like he had just woken up. Jin quickly paused his game and got up to greet his boyfriend with a quick peck on the lips.
“Yoongi-ah, you’re late” Jin complained, though there was no real bite to his voice.
“I’m sorry” Yoongi replied, wrapping his arms around Jin’s waist with the same smile that Jin had first fallen for.
For all his grumpiness and aloofness, behind closed doors Yoongi was just as affectionate as, say, Hoseok (okay, maybe not that much but still much more affectionate than one would expect to him to be.)
“So what do you want to do?” Jin asked, leaning back into Yoongi’s chest, relishing the feeling of domesticity.
“I don’t know, what were you doing before I came in?” Yoongi asked.
“I was playing Mario Kart, do you want to play with me. You’ve never played with me?” Jin asked turning around, eyes sparkling which made it clear that this was no casual request.
Yoongi scratched the back of his head, he hated disappointing his boyfriend (especially when his eyes sparkled like that) “I’ve never actually played Mario, so…”
Yoongi was pretty sure that Jin’s gasp could be heard from the streets. “You’ve never played Mario Kart!” Jin exclaimed, jumping away from Yoongi’s embrace to point an accusatory finger at his boyfriend.
Before Yoongi could reply, Jin continued “This cannot be, we have to fix this, come on we’re playing now. I’ll explain the rules and controls.” He said dragging Yoongi by the wrist.
After explaining the rules to Yoongi, the two started to play.
“I’ll go easy on you since it’s your first time.” Jin said patronizingly with a smug smile.
However, at the end of the game, it was Yoongi who wore the smug smile.
“It’s just beginner’s luck.” Jin reasoned “Plus, I was going easy on you.”
“Whatever you say” Yoongi said tauntingly.
“Fine, let’s have a rematch.” Jin said, annoyed.
“Fine, winner takes all, I want a prize when I win.” Yoongi replied cockily.
From the start of the game, it was clear that Jin meant business this time, but Yoongi was surprisingly adept at the game (his excellent hand-eye coordination and the simple rules of the game helped) and he won again.
“Okay, fine. You won.” Jin said sulkily “What do you want as your prize?” he asked.
“This” Yoongi said simply, before capturing Jin’s lips in a deep kiss
“That doesn’t really count as one.” Jin muttered as they broke apart, cheeks red, glasses askew.
Yoongi looked at Jin, eyes full of affection “It does to me.”
