Summary
Post-Canon
After a prayer leads them across the mountains, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng's domestic life gets suddenly flipped upside-down. They find themselves chasing down a group of mysterious agitators from one end of the country to the next--putting out fires, saving civilians, trying to prevent an invisible force from cracking open the newfound peace of their world. Summary
Xie Lian never seemed to be fully aware of his charms, but they pulled Hua Cheng to him like a magnet now. Hua Cheng wanted to worship Xie Lian from top to bottom, to ravish him, to kiss him hard, to lovingly take him apart until he cried. Hua Cheng's expression might have revealed those urges as he drew close; he could clearly see the nervous bob of Xie Lian's throat, yet Xie Lian didn't hesitate to tilt his chin upwards to hold his gaze, baring his neck further. Pale and pristine, it had been far too long since Xie Lian's skin got properly littered with Hua Cheng's love marks. The longing reflected in Xie Lian's doe eyes confirmed that he agreed.
"I'm sorry I've been so busy. I never meant to leave you unattended." Hua Cheng's fingertips stroked just behind Xie Lian's earlobe, skimming down to where the deep collar of the shirt began. He idly toyed with the ruffles there. "You've been so patient. Will you let me make it up to you?"
A small shiver ran through Xie Lian's body. As if he didn't trust his own voice, he simply nodded.
Hua Cheng's lips curled as he leaned in. "Good boy."

Summary
Hua Cheng stood before him, but he was not alone.
Opposing Hua Cheng was a young soldier clad in worn armor, his face hidden behind a pale smiling mask. Despite the mask’s fixed expression, the fury beneath it was unmistakable. He drove his blade forward again and again with fierce determination, each strike fueled by confusion, rage, and an unyielding instinct to protect.
At the same time, Hua Cheng’s free hand was occupied.
He pushed his palm against a small child’s bandaged face, gripping firmly to keep the boy from throwing himself into the fight. The child, no older than ten, twisted and kicked with wild, furious energy, his small boots repeatedly trying to stomp Hua Cheng’s shins.
OR: After confiscating a talisman from the Ghost Market, Hua Cheng's consciousness is divided into three pieces: Current Hua Cheng, Wu Ming, and Hong-er. Xie Lian must spend time with each of his husband's iterations, helping them confront their unresolved traumas, in order to restore Hua Cheng’s unified consciousness.

Summary
Xie Lian tucks a lock of hair behind his ear. “San Lang, do you want to, ah, study anything else?” He’s flailing a little and he should stop thinking about Shi Qingxuan’s sexy teacher suggestion because he couldn’t pull it off even if he tried.
Luckily Hua Cheng has enough confidence for them both and can work with what he’s given. “Are you down for some anatomy?”
That line is cheap on paper and therefore shouldn’t work but he pulls it off. He has his hand on Xie Lian’s thigh now and it burns through the fabric.
(Or: Xie Lian finds himself tutoring star basketball player Hua Cheng and ends up getting a lot more than what he bargained for.)
