Work Text:
People had tried to trap Rekrap since he was first introduced. Rekrap was a master escape artist!
Parrot wont let that affect him. He was going to trap Rekrap. Or die trying!
Parrot led Rek to a city. Each building blossomed with bright colours. Rek had hus doubts about this. He knew he had to trust Parrot, but something seemed.. off. The lazily built cobblestone walls, nearly all of these said buildings having cobblestone floors, all except one.
"And then the blue house is our... botanical garden." Parrot introduced. Rek looked down at the dirt. The pause in Parrots voice set something off. This WAS a trap.
"Ahh..." He needed to make sure Parrot didnt believe he knew what he was doing. It was obvious. Parrot placed signs down around the walls in order to lead Rek in.
"No like- if you come in here like- I wanna add more flowers."
Rek had to do it. He pulled out his shovel and dug out the ground under him. Resulting in him falling to his doom. He flinched slightly after doing so. That couldve been HIM. He could've died by Parrot. Parrot was going to K I L L him. Why? Werent they allies? There was no reason to do so. All he could hear was Parrot yelling at him
"I hate you--"
All he could do was stare. Then laugh. And laugh, and laugh and laugh. He couldnt get trapped. He was UNTRAPPABLE. Nothing would kill him. He would let nothing kill him. He clenched his fist and walked off into the distance away from his ally. No worries in his mind.
[ONE]
He walked down the netherrack tunnel. He joked with his friends, he was bound to get trapped eventually.
"Youve got to learn to t r u s t, alright?"
He replied to Branzy, something about not being stressed. He wasnt. He felt great actually! Parrot claimed he was extremely stressed. Odd. But he continued onward. He was exicted to see what would go on.
He entered the nether portal after Branzy, what was on the other side?
Rek was in the perfect position, Parrot was safely in the portal, and after weeks of planning he was going to trap Rek! He was giddy just thinking about it. He placed the torch smiling wide. I was ready. As the redstone did its work he was fully expecting for Rek to fall into the void. But of COURSE he didnt. It was Rekrap2 after all.
Rek popped into the End. Shocked of what had happened. Oh void! He ran towards the island and scrambled out.
"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!" "Run, run RUN!" He exclaimed to Parrot. Parrot did as so. He knew something was off, something that couldnt be trusted. Something else suprised him. Another time that he (almost) got trapped Parrot was there. Could he have planned this too? He wanted to deny it. He really did. But something told him it was true.
[TWO]
Rek and Parrot were infront of 8 platforms. Get an answer wrong and you fall to your demise. It seemed normal to him. But Parrot was also here with him! Again.
The pair both answered the questions, each one being simple. Oh, a question, "The statue of liberty holds the torch in this hand" said Subz. Rek thought it should've been left. He thought it was anyway, but Parrot insured it was right, "It's not left Rek I literally made these questions." It sparked something in him. He made these questions? What was the purpose of him doing this? Probably to guide him. Yeah.
Then left, right...
It was the last question now.
50/50
Parrot knew which one was correct, the right one. He was going to die for Rek. He would earn his trust. He needed his trust, he had a plan. A great plan. All he had to do was jump on the platform and die.
As Parrot prepared to jump, he saw Rek jump on the right one. His eyes widened as he landed on the wrong one. Rek watches him fall down and die. If this couldn't get him, then what can?
[THREE]
He created a museum for Rekrap. This was going to be the BEST trap yet.
"I would like to present to you the museum of traps. Come along Rekrap2."
He introduced all of the traps to Rekrap. Armour stand trap, the void trap, anvil... none of those traps could even compare to the one and only
"We have the moss trap, which you almost died to!"
"What moss trap?" Reks suspicions grew. He did not recall a single moss trap ever being made. At least not towards him.
"Down here." Parrot led on.
"Wait- wait when?"
"Like way back."
"Who-- who was I with?"
"I think you were by yourself, right?" Creating a false memory. It never happened. They both knew that.
"Here come on, you can uh... this way, this way."
A smile slowly crept up Reks face.
"Wouldn't it be awfully poetic if you said 'and here's the moss trap!' I don't remember the moss trap, and you trap me."
Parrot knew this would happen. Rek wasn't gullible, not any sense of the word. He just gave trust out like nothing. He tried to convince Rek not, be he knew he couldn't.
"Wouldn't that be poetic?"
"Rek. Let's go."
"You just lied to be there's been no moss trap! Parrot."
"What if you're having a relapse in your judgement?"
"Rek, Rek Rek, Rek, you're safe here." He tried to convince him so. He was Reks ally after all, it would be stupid not to.
"I could trust you, walk into the moss. And you could potentially trap me." He paused. His throat closing in. He did not want to lose Parrot. He was all he had. "I'd lose all of my stuff, a heart, and I would probably never ever trust you again."
"Exactly Rek. I don't want that!"
He looked up at Parrot, it wasn't that bad of a commitment.
He walked through, seeing the ground break beneath him he backed away quickly. He grabbed his hoodie and breathed heavily. He stared at Parrot. He could only focus on Parrot. Oh god. Why would he do this. He was saying something he couldn't comprehend.
"My intention was NEVER to k i l l y o u."
...
He walked up to the lecture. He dug up the dirt and moss surrounding it. He wiped off the dirt placed on his hands and opened the book.
Good job.
Good job? That's it. That was all it was.

"I have a bit of a... trust exercise Parrot." He knew what he would do. No exercise... no trust.
"Are you down to trust me?
"Yeah, sure." Parrot agreed. Rek gave everything for him. He could do this. For Rekrap.
"Where it all went down, like a repeat of the same thing." But, something else would happen. Something Parrot didnt expect.
"All I want you to do, is to go over there and read the book!" Nothing would happen. He set this up!
"Read the instructions on the next thing to do, okay?"
He walked up to the book, opening it. Rek giggled behind him. He turned around, or at least as much as he could. He heard the sound of the lever and knew he was doomed. He blew up.
"That worked so well!"
When Parrot woke up he got bombarded with questions. Why did that had to happen? WHY TO HIM? Everything flashed before him.
"I...."
"I trusted him."
