Summary:

“Doesn’t it bother you to waste all that film on me, Silly Bird?” Touya asks with a smirk, and Keigo lowers the camera from his face with a shrug.

“Who said it’s wasted?” he asks, trying to sound nonchalant but failing miserably.

Touya huffs.

“You can take pictures of everything, anything and anyone you want, and you wanna waste film on someone who looks like me?”

or

Touya encourages Keigo to take up a new hobby, and it leads to things neither of them could possibly have expected.

Work Text:

Keigo has learned quite a few new things about Touya since the war ended and Keigo took on the role as Touya’s parole overseer, making them the world's strangest roommates.

For example, Touya is not subtle.

Something which is currently very obvious, with the gift and the note the ex-villain had left on the table before he left for his mandatory therapy appointment that morning.

A small, rather old but very well kept camera, the kind where you need a blackroom to develop the picture after you’ve taken them.

And the note.

“I told you that you need a hobby.”

The shaky handwriting sent a jolt of empathy through Keigo’s chest, a reminder of how shaky and unreliable Touya’s body had been since the war, but also a reminder of how he was pushing through it, moving forward.

Keigo wished that he could say he’d been doing the same, but if where to be totally honest with himself, he felt like he’d been standing still for quite some time now.

Which reminded him of another thing he had learned about Touya during these last few months; he was a lot kinder than he wanted to admit.

While the gift and note may seem teasing, it was also a genuine push in the right direction, a firm nudge to make Keigo actually put his money where his mouth was.

Keigo really did need a hobby.

He had made a promise to himself to no longer be Hero Hawks first and Keigo the person second, but that was easier said than done considering he knew very little of who Keigo the person actually was.

What he does know is that he likes going all in when he tries something new, and so he takes this gift, this thoughtful gift from his ex-villain/friend/roommate/crush, and he goes all in.

He starts bringing the camera with him wherever he goes, the leather strap it’s attached to is always hanging around his neck, and he tries taking pictures of whatever it is that catches his eye.

Touya looks terribly pleased with himself, but he saves most of the told you so ’s for special occasions, for which Keigo is grateful.

Keigo likes taking pictures, but he hates to give up his camera for some worker he doesn’t know to develop them for him, and so he and Touya do some research and find a dark room Keigo can rent, and someone willing to teach him how to properly develop his pictures.

It allows for much more… privacy, in regard to the pictures themselves.

Because while Keigo likes taking pictures of scenery, random people and animals, there is nothing he quite likes as much as taking pictures of Touya.

It’s not as creepy as it sounds.

He almost never does it in secret, Touya loves to do dramatic poses, gestures and is quite the photobomber, but he just sort of assumes that Keigo doesn’t bother developing those.

But Keigo does.

He actually really enjoys spending time carefully making the pictures come to life, seeing Touya’s gorgeous face slowly appear, and he loves knowing that he was the on to get to capture him in this way.

Keigo was prepared to keep going like this indefinitely, but Touya doesn’t let that happen, because that would just be too easy and convenient wouldn’t it?

Keigo’s feelings for Touya have been growing stronger by the minute it feels like, and at this point it’s easier to hide behind the camera than risk being seen staring at the white haired man like a lovesick puppy, but as previously stated, Touya is not subtle.

They’re in their living room on a sunny afternoon when Keigo loses what little control he has left over the situation.

It’s just that the way the light hits Touya’s face is so perfect, his slowly healing skin looks new and glowing, his eyes bright, his hair so, so white, and the way he looks at Keigo with an odd mix of challenge and affection, Keigo cannot ficking help himself.

So he takes his pictures, and he doesn’t bother hiding it.

“Doesn’t it bother you to waste all that film on me, Silly Bird?” Touya asks with a smirk, and Keigo lowers the camera from his face with a shrug.

“Who said it’s wasted?” he asks, trying to sound nonchalant but failing miserably.

Touya raises his eyebrows, caught off guard for once.

“Don’t tell me you actually develop some of those?” he asks, and Keigo averts his eyes.

“Why wouldn’t I?” he mumbles, and Touya just stares.

“But… why?” Touya asks, a rare look of vulnerability on his face.

Keigo’s chest squeezes.

“Come on, Hot-Stuff, why wouldn’t I?” he asks, trying to decipher the look on Touya’s face.

Touya huffs.

“Why would you?” he asks again, a slight pout on his face.

“You can take pictures of everything, anything and anyone you want, and you wanna waste film on someone who looks like me?”

Keigo’s face grows a little more serious.

“Don’t say that, man, you’re not a waste of anything,” Keigo says earnestly, forgetting to be embarrassed all together as he adds;

“Not to me.”

Touya doesn’t meet his eyes anymore, turning slightly away from Keigo to look out their window.

Keigo carefully moves a little closer, enough for their legs to be touching, and gently places a hand on Touya’s knee.

“You’re such a weird bird, do you know that?” Touya asks fondly as he finally looks at Keigo again, a faint blush on his porcelain cheeks.

Keigo grins.

“Considering how often you tell me, yes, yes I do know that,” he says lightly, and Touya rolls his eyes with a smirk.

Keigo can’t help himself.

He takes another picture.

This time Touya simply watches Keigo as he lowers the camera again, looking lost in thought.

“Can I?” he asks after a moment, gesturing to the camera.

Keigo raises his eyebrows in confusion, but hands the camera over without second thought.

Touya turns it over in his hands, carefully, before he lifts it up to his face and focuses on Keigo, leaning back a little to get a better angle, and finally snaps a picture.

“Will you develop that one for me, please?” Touya asks, and Keigo nods confused.

“Sure, Hot-Stuff, but… why?”

Touya shrugs with a smirk.

“If you’re allowed to have secret pictures of me stashed about, I feel like I should get to even the playing field,” Touya says lightly as he hands the camera back to Keigo.

Keigo’s eyes widen and his face grows red.

“I don’t have stashes!” he exclaims, and Touya laughs.

“Whatever you say, Pretty-Bird,” Touya says with a teasing undertone, and Keigo pouts as dramatically throws himself down so he’s lying on Touya’s lap.

“Well, excuse me for thinking you’re just too pretty to ignore, then,” he sighs dramatically, before he has time to think of what he just admitted.

Touya stares down at him, and Keigo closes his eyes in embarrassment.

“You think I am pretty?” Touya asks, the shock evident in his voice.

Keigo opens one of his eyes, daring to glance up at the white haired man above him.

“Obviously,” Keigo says simply, too deep now to bother backing out.

Touya shakes his head with a light laugh.

“You’re insane,” he says fondly, pushing some blond curls out of Keigo’s eyes.

Keigo’s chest flutters, and he pushes himself up on his elbows so that their faces are so close their noses are almost touching.

“Insanely into you,” Keigo admits, and Touya huffs out a soft laugh before he gently bumps his nose against Keigo’s.

“And cheesy,” Touya smirks, and Keigo grins up at him.

“Only for you,” he says, before he finally, finally tilts his chin up enough for their lips to come together in a kiss.

It’s a little careful at first, both of them finding their footing, but as soon as Keigo tilts his head for a better angle and Touya lets his tongue slip into Keigo’s mouth that shyness melts away.

Keigo sits up fully and moves to straddle Touya’s lap, hands moving into Touya’s soft, white hair and Touya’s hands resting on Keigo’s jaw, bringing his face closer, closer.

Pretty soon they need to come up for air, and as they do their foreheads come to rest against each other, neither able to take their eyes off the other.

“You’re so fucking gorgeous,” Keigo all but gasps as their breaths mingles, and Touya’s pupils visibly dialtes at the praise.

“That’s kinda crazy coming from the prettiest bird of them all,” Touya admits, and Keigo chuckles as he moves to press a kiss to Touya’s jaw.

“Do you still not believe me?” he asks, letting his hands wander down Touya’s chest slowly.

Touya doesn’t reply, but lets out a soft moan as Keigo keeps kissing his throat.

“Let me show you,” Keigo all but begs, and Touya moans, nodding as he doesn't trust his voice to hold up at that moment.

So Keigo does.

They move to the bedroom pretty quickly after that, and while there’s not many words spoken, Keigo makes sure to leave no room for doubt with his actions.

He shows it in the way his hands runs over Touya’s slim body, holding onto every part of him he can grasp, with the way he makes room for himself within Touya’s body, with the way his kisses worships every inch of his lover, with the steady rhythm on his own hips, the way he finds room for his own pleasure within Touya’s.

When they’re finished, lying wrapped up in each other's limbs and Keigo’s wings, giddy with pleasure and closeness and the relief of months of built up tensions, Keigo doesn’t have to ask the question out loud, because he sees it in Touya’s face.

He believes him now.

And if Keigo had any say in it, he would make sure Touya will keep believing it for the rest of his life.
