*beep beep boop*
a hologram message appears on nene's shoulder as she flies on her hoverboard. she was on her way home after a long day, so she was prepared to get home and sleep.
suddenly, the girl looked to her shoulder to see her alien princess girlfriend, who had sneaked onto there, and the sheer surprise of her appearance caused her to lose control.
'e-emu?! what are you- AAA!' 'WAAA!'
*CRASH*
they collide straight into some space coral, leaving both of them dangling upside down as they are caught. emu had also transformed back into her humanoid form, and they was just laying there, recovering from the impact.
'ah, are you okay emu?' she walks over to her, reaching out her hand. emu takes her hand and stands back up. 'yes, i'm okay! where are you going nene-chan?'
nene, still holding her hand, responds 'i'm on my way home, it's been a long day, so i wanted to go home and relax before returning to my duties you know. don't you have other things to do today.'
emu smiles, excited to tell nene the news. 'well, i was feeling super super bored with my duties, so i rushed and got them all done quickly so i could go and spend time with you, hehe!'
'you wanted to spend time with me? well, i guess i can't say no, come with me.' nene replied with a smile, and the two got back on their feet and began to fly off to nene's house.
when they get inside, nene goes straight off into her slightly messy but clean room. there was a pile of space tech, waiting to be used and repurposed. 'i have some things to work on, so excuse the small mess.' she gets a chair for emu to sit on and watch. nene then gets to work using many power tools, and remembering her skills from her neighbour and one of her best friends rui, who was next door probably messing with tsukasa.
emu quietly sits there, watching nene work as her curiosity is peaking and learning more about how those not in royalty is working on their inventions. she asks little questions, such as where a compartment would be placed.
soon enough, nene had done for the day, setting all of her tools down and was now looking at her hologram messages, while she was cleaning up the mess in her room.
'nene-chan, mind if i help?' emu bends down, collecting some tech.
'oh no, thank you emu.' nene replied, sorting it into a pile.
after the room was completely cleaned up, nene began to look for recipes to cook.
'emu, do you want to come to the shop with me? i'll need to get some things to cook with.' nene suggested.
'hmm? oh sure, let's go!' emu begins to drag nene out of the room. 'emu, wait! i'm not done yet!' nene pleads, trying to break out of her iron grip.
nene quickly asking emu to go out on some errands together is the equivalent of a dog wanting to be walked, and almost has a similar excitement, as they both walk up to the shop and begin to pick up some foods.
'emu, can you get me some perch and some potatoes please?'
'okay!' she walks off carefully, careful to not alert anyone that she is there for nene's comfort. being royalty is scary on your own, but especially for her socially anxious girlfriend, who at the moment was distracted with looking at some jellies.
they then walk out of the store, placing all of their shopping on nene's hoverboard before setting off for home.
once again, nene gets to work, preparing dinner for the two of them. her hardworking nature shines through in this moment, seeing as she hasn't taken a break this entire time. emu's head wasn't in the clouds this time around, and once again, she offers to help.
'nene-chan, you're looking really tired, need help?' emu asks with a hint of concern in her voice.
'ah no, everything's fine emu, don't you worry.' nene replies confidently.
emu wasn't taking that for an answer. she waits until nene puts the knife away, and as she is preparing the potato, emu picks her up, making nene squeal.
'emu?! why-' nene stammers out, shocked about being taken away.
'you've worked way too hard today! you should get some rest, no?' emu said, putting her down onto the sofa and placing a blanket on her. 'you should nap nene-chan.' she kisses her on the forehead, before walking back to the kitchen.
nene, now a blushing mess and dazed from her love for emu, lies down on the sofa.
'ah, i should go change my clothes.' she looks around at emu, distracted by the food she was making. how did she know the recipe? and she was...surprisingly good? is this part of royal duties?
nene thought about emu's strange behaviour as she got changed, and sneaks back into the living room, back into the exact position she was in.
emu luckily hadn't noticed that nene had ever left, focusing on making an nutritious meal for her girlfriend.
'oh nene-chan!' emu exclaimed. 'i hope you like what i'm making for you! i made it with big biiig love!'
'did you? that's very nice of you emu, thank you!'
'its nothing, don't worry about it! i wanted to do this for a looong time too!'
nene goes quiet, then asks 'why didn't you just ask me then?!'
'because i wanted to surprise you one day silly!' emu said, putting her hands on her hips proudly.
'emu...AAHH!' nene suddenly screamed, as there was a loud crash outside. instinctively, she covers her ears and hides, worried. she also drags emu down to hide her.
'nene-chan! are you okay!' emu whispered.
'yeah, i'm f-fine.' nene responded with a shaky voice. her body was completely covered in a shadow of anxiety and fear, as the meteor shower struck the neighbourhood.
emu silently hugs nene through her terror, softly stroking her hair to comfort her gently. 'it's all okay, you're going to be just fine...shhh..'
she continues to comfort nene until her heart rate slows down and her shaking stops, and emu slowly uncovers her ears.
'thank you, emu.' nene whispers out softly, looking up at her.
'its okay, are you feeling better now?'
'yeah, much better.'
'now! let's go eat! we can talk about what just happened later, okay? you look really tired!' emu observes nene, who is holding back her laughs.
'emu! i'm okay now don't worry!' nene stammers out.
the two girls begin to eat together, sharing stories and talking about their experiences.
