Chapter Text
It’s barely been a week since Mydei and Phainon have been official, and yet… they’ve already kissed like 27 times.
“Love you,” Phainon kisses him, cupping and squishing his face every time he leaves. Mydei first brushed it off to his puppylike demeanor. He would just chuckle and just say “I love you too, deliverer.” Before Phainon would leave for work. Because for some reason, he worked two jobs. Very unnecessary.
Him? He ran a library—a family-owned library that just happened to be beneath their apartment. In Phainon’s defense, he got kicked out of his apartment. The first day they started dating. Phainon kissed him too much. Seriously.
And here they were again. Phainon grabs his bag, turns, and smiles like a beam of light. It’s blinding, really. But Mydei finds it adorable. “Okay Mydei.” He says as he gently pulls in the blonde. “I’m off to work. Stay out of trouble today, yeah?”
Mydei grimaced. He hides his face in Phainon’s shoulder. He remembers yesterday when he got so pissed off at somebody not being able to find a book right in front of him. He swore he almost bit the guy. “Yeah yeah, you idiot,” he shorts back. “Love you, Phainon.”
Phainon kisses Mydei extra long. “I love you too, Mydeimos,” he says when he pulls away. Then he gives him another kiss for good measure. Then another.
“Phai-” he tries to protest, pushing his hand gently against his chest. But Phainon is quicker, and kisses him one more time. One more time. “Phainon.” He demands, pulling Phainon back by the collar. Phainon looks back at him with a blank expression, yet smiling like a confused puppy.
“…Yes?”
Mydei glares at him. “You’ve kissed me like… what? 32 times now in the past week?”
Phainon smiles innocently. “Me? Noo. Never.” Another glare. There was a long moment of silence, prompting Phainon to ask the unspoken question: why? But Phainon just smiles. “I have to go to work.” He begins to pull away.
He’s tugged back by the belt loop. “Phainon.” The Librarian demands. Phainon sticks his tongue out playfully in response. The blonde’s patience wears thin. “Idiot deliverer…” he shakes his head. “I’ll bite your tongue off.”
Phainon promptly puts his tongue back in his mouth. “Sorry…”
“Answer the question.”
“What question?”
“Why are you kissing me so much?”
“You never asked that, Mydeimos.”
“Phainon.”
“Mydei.”
Their eyes meet sharply as Mydei turns Phainon’s head back toward him. Phainon looks away with his eyes and hums playfully. “Oh my titans, deliverer, if you’re addicted to me, you can just say it.”
“Well… not addicted to you, per se…”
“Quit beating around the bush.” Mydei sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. It’s weird because Phainon is usually very forward and direct about what he wants, and what he likes. He shivers as he thinks about everything Phainon is so open about asking for in bed. Seriously. This guy is so candid about what he wants it’s almost scary. But there is no word for scary in the Kremnoan language.
“Your chapstick,” Phainon finally breathes, looking at the floor like a puppy that’s just been told he did something bad. “It’s your chapstick…” he mumbles.
There’s a long, tense silence. Mydei stares at Phainon, dumbfounded by his words and especially by his shame. He was kissing him so much… because he likes his chapstick? The dumbest reason to kiss someone over— and the dumbest reason to be ashamed of it. Mydei sputters, then snorts. And bursts into a fit of laughter.
Phainon’s head shoots up, cheeks burning like nothing else. This earns a whine from the deliverer. “Mydei~”
“You… you’re embarrassed—” he says between cackles, his chest bouncing. “Let me get this straight, deliverer. You’re embarrassed… because you’re kissing me so much… because you like the taste of my chapstick?”
Phainon pouts. “It’s just tasty…” the ivory haired man complains. At the same time, he licks his lips with a sweet smile. Mydei snorts in return, his cheeks dusted with salmony pink.
“You’re an idiot.”
“What flavor is it, anyway?” He asks, smacking his lips like he’s tasting something. Which he is. His chapstick. Of all things.
“It’s just pomegranate,” Mydei shakes his head like it’s obvious. Which it should be. He loves pomegranates.
“Oh!” Phainon blinks. He then laughs. “I guess that should have been obvious.” He leans in for another kiss.
Mydei scoffs and pulls Phainon away again by the back of his shirt. “You need to go to work, or you’re gonna be late, deliverer.” He turns his head away.
“Right…” Phainon replies sadly. “Sorry.”
Mydei sighs. He cups Phainon’s face in his hands and turns his head back to him. And finally, one last kiss. “I love you.”
Phainon’s eyes light up immediately. “I love you too, Mydei!” He cheers. Then he pulls away and waves as he walks out the door happily. He licks his lips discreetly. Mission accomplished.
