The full moon shone brightly overhead, illuminating the surrounding hillside. It felt like any other night, which was why you felt no trepidation making your usual nightly rounds. The pen housing a small family of thestrals was quiet at this time, but you still checked on them regardless, making sure they were comfortable.
You were comfortable, content in the life you'd carved out for yourself in the countryside, away from both the wizarding and Muggle worlds. That's how you wanted it. No one bothered you; you could do what you wanted out here, like caring for magical creatures. You sometimes got a little lonely, but not lonely enough to seek anyone out.
And sometimes, creatures and people stumbled upon you.
