Lucy still can’t believe they are celebrating their wedding today. What no one knows is that they actually decided to elope four months ago, well except for Grey. It was intimate and exactly how she envisioned her wedding would be. The date that they were married was important to them. It was the anniversary of the day she finished her rookie year and they finally had their first date. It was the start of their forever.
Tim sneaks into her suite and can’t help but stare at his wife. “Wow.” He says breathlessly and she blushes when she sees him staring. She can’t help but also stare at her husband.
“You clean up quite nicely.” Lucy’s hands land on his chest. Tim takes Lucy’s hand and twirls her around to admire the dress.
“You are stunning and I’m so lucky to call you my wife.” Every time Tim calls her that, her heart always flutters.
Lucy’s hands land on his chest. “I had a small sneak peak of the video. I don’t think that anyone will see it coming.” Tim leans and gives her a small kiss.
“They most definitely won’t and I can’t wait to see everyone’s reactions. Aaron knows exactly when to play it. I should get out there before Angela comes looking for me and then yells. I love you. I’ll see you at the altar.”
Tim gives her hand a small squeeze and sneaks out of the room. Angela comes looking for him not even two minutes later. “Are you ready for this?” She is grinning at him.
“I’ve never been more ready for anything in my life.” He finally says and Angela has to wipe a few stray tears away from her face. “If you start crying, I might start Ange and I’d really love to see my beautiful bride walk down the aisle.”
Angela rolls her eyes and pulls Tim in for a hug. “Oh, there will be tears Bradford.” She shoves some tissues into his jacket pocket. “Which is why you have plenty of these.” Tim smiles and heads out to where the ceremony is taking place. His hands are clammy and he feels more excitement than nervousness. Angela and Aaron each take their respective places up front. The music begins and Lucy makes her way down the aisle. Percy West is holding her arm and Tim can’t keep his eyes off her. He can’t look away, not that he wants to.
Lucy is glad that someone is walking with her. She can’t keep her eyes off Tim and the smile hasn’t left her face. Percy shakes Tim’s hand when they make it to the front and goes to take his seat. “Hi.” She whispers and Tim’s fingers graze her cheek.
“Hi beautiful.” He whispers back and Lucy feels goosebumps. This is one of her favorite moments that she never wants to forget. Grey is smiling at them, also knowing what is about to happen. They had to come clean to him, but no one else suspects a thing.
Lucy and Tim move closer to him and look into each other's eyes. Grey starts speaking. “We are all here today to celebrate Tim and Lucy finally getting married.” The laughter can be heard from the crowd. “But what most of you don’t know is that this isn’t your typical celebration.”
Angela nudges Tim and gives him a confused look. He just shrugs his shoulders. “I believe if you look at the screen above you, it’ll explain everything much better than I ever could.”
Tim and Lucy turn to look while everyone’s attention is on the screen. He wraps his arms around her waist and lays her head on his shoulder. The video starts playing and Lucy’s voice can be heard. “I know that you all think we are getting married today, but we really were married four months ago.” Someone recorded the small ceremony and Lucy added it to the video. “We didn’t do this to trick anyone, but we really wanted that intimate moment to ourselves when we became husband and wife. We are so excited to celebrate with all of you today. If you’re in this audience, you’re the people we love the most and want by our side during this celebration. We aren’t sorry for not telling you and we’ve enjoyed being married in secret for a few months. I promise we will get to the dancing, food, and free drinks soon enough, but for now, enjoy the rest of our video.” Tim hears Lucy sniffling and helps wipe her eyes so that her makeup doesn’t run. This moment is filled with joy, excitement, and a tinge of nervousness.
“I can’t believe you two kept this secret for as long as you did.” Angela whispers but she is just so happy for them. Tim doesn’t say anything as the video continues to play.
It shows Lucy on the bed two months later with tears in her eyes. Everyone sees her take a shaky breath and then pick something up. Everyone gasps when she shows them a positive pregnancy test. Tim’s hand gravitates toward her belly. He doesn’t even notice that he does it some days. He knows that Angela wants to say more, but they are letting the video finish. Kojo is by her side in the video. “You’re having a baby brother or sister buddy. I can’t wait to tell your daddy. He’s going to be so happy.” She is shaking, smiling, and crying all at once. Everyone in the crowd is cheering for them.
In the video, Lucy starts speaking again. “Tim’s almost home and I’m telling him today about our biggest surprise.”
Kojo walks in and they chuckle when they see his black booties on his feet. “I’ve attached this to Kojo’s collar.” It’s a new tag that says “Mom is pregnant. We’re getting a new human!” She giggles when she hears Tim walk in the house. She walks to the living room to watch her boys.
Kojo goes running up to him and Tim is very confused. “Really? Why is Kojo wearing booties?”
“It’ll keep his little paws clean. Here, I also got our names engraved on a new tag for him since the one we originally had is missing.” Tim takes the collar and as soon as he sees what it says, he drops it on the floor.
“Lucy.” His voice is full of emotion. “Lucy.” She nods her head and Tim pulls her into his arms. He can’t find his words but they aren’t needed. She can feel his tears and lets out a wet laugh.
“You’re going to be a dad.” Tim pulls away slightly, but only enough so that he can draw her in for a passionate kiss.
“I love you so much. We’re having a little us.” The excitement on his face makes everything worth it. They can hear some people sniffling in the audience. Lucy’s emotions are all stirring up again for the best reasons.
“You’re not supposed to make me cry like this, Bradford.” Angela slaps his arm. “I can’t believe you’re going to be a dad.”
“Me either Ange. It still feels surreal.” The video keeps playing, everyone’s eyes still glued to the screen. Kojo is jumping excitedly in the background still and he gets even more excited seeing himself on the screen.
Tim knows what’s coming and he’s so excited for this part. “Okay, it’s our first ultrasound today. Let’s go check on baby Bradford.” The screen goes black and it comes back to life with Lucy outside of her doctor’s office.
“Well, we just finished our appointment. I’ve been feeling extra tired and more sick than normal. There’s a very good explanation for that.” Tim pulls out the ultrasound and shows it to the camera. “We found out that we are having twins.” The video shows Tim kissing the side of Lucy’s head and they can’t stop smiling. The video is almost done but not quite. “And I am currently eight weeks pregnant. Since this will play at our wedding ceremony, I’ll be closer to fourteen or fifteen weeks along. I’m sure by then it will have been hard to hide from all of you, but this is the greatest gift. We can’t wait to meet them.” The crowd chuckles and the video fades to black before showing Tim and Lucy on the couch. “We have the results of our blood work that will tell us the genders of our babies. Lucy is twelve weeks pregnant now.” Tim has the envelope in his hand. His land lands on her belly and Lucy is sitting on his lap. They rip the envelope open. “Tim, we’re having a boy.”
“And a girl.” He whispers. “We’re having one of each.” They rest their foreheads against each other and the video finally finishes.
Luna comes right over and pulls Lucy into a hug while Angela hugs Tim. “You're getting the best of both worlds. I’m so happy for you two. They are the luckiest kids to have you both as parents.”
“I can’t wait, Ange. I love them so much already.” Angela moves over to Lucy.
“You look incredible and I’m so happy for you both.” Lucy is emotional and every single person comes to congratulate them.
The video was definitely a surprise to everyone and Lucy is so happy it turned out the way it did. It was the perfect start to their reception. Once the food is eaten, everyone moves to the dance floor. Tim holds his hand out and Lucy takes it easily. They go share another dance as husband and wife. “I’m glad we’ve kept their names to ourselves for now, but it’s a relief that everyone finally knows.”
Tim kisses her softly. “I agree Luce and we can keep one secret to ourselves for a bit.” He cups her cheek and once again, pulls her close. “I love you Mrs. Bradford.” She smiles and he moves his mouth to her ear. “And I love our son and daughter so much.”
“I love you, my incredible husband. And I love them so much. Liam Timothy Bradford and Lana Zoe Bradford.”
Tim smiles and with all the great moments he has had and will have in his life, this one is a favorite. “I think this moment is one of my top five favorite moments of our lives.”
“Oh, it cracked the top five huh?” She giggles and loves teasing Tim.
“Mmm, every moment with you is my favorite.” He’s the luckiest man in this entire world and he won’t ever forget that.
