It really was quite beautiful. Plains and hills as far as the eye could see, and no small amount of local fauna around them — even if they weren't daring to come any closer to the pair of them. He had never seen so many animals in person, not at the zoo nor even in what was left of the uninhabited plains surrounding the city and beyond. The sheer clarity and lack of pollution was a sight to behold, and fluffy white clouds floated overhead on a clear day, and his audio sensors couldn't pick up even a hint of a vehicle.

He was surrounded by walls and strange machinations the likes of which he wasn’t sure he could have even dreamed up on his own. Electric lights overhead were brighter, whiter, than any he had ever seen before. There was no distant sound of nature, nor smell of the local flora. An incessant hum came from all around.
