Work Text:

Sasuke and Naruto, Megumi and Yuji: the four of them sat at Ichiraku, Naruto beaming with excitement as he shoveled noodles into his mouth, dying to show Yuji just how good the ramen was, while Megumi and Sasuke watched in amusement, bordering on irritation.

“Why are we doing this again?” Megumi muttered, glaring at the steaming ramen like it personally offended him.

Naruto was already halfway through his noodles and responded with his mouth full. “Because ramen night is sacred, believe it!”

Yuji laughed across from him, cheeks also full. “You’re gonna choke, man.”

Sasuke sat with arms crossed, chopsticks untouched.

Yuji leaned in, grin wide, chopsticks extended. “Here, Fushiguro, try this. It’s pork belly—super tender.”

Megumi’s eye twitched. “I can feed myself.”

But Yuji was already too close, smile unwavering, and Megumi’s usual scowl cracked for just a second—eyes flicking to his lips, then to the food. He leaned in and took the bite, and immediately turned beet red.

Naruto blinked. “Wait, are you guys—?”

“Shut up,” Megumi said, voice flat.

Sasuke rolled his eyes.

Yuji shrugged, sipping his drink innocently. “What? He likes it when I feed him.”

Megumi glared at him.

Then Naruto grinned, picking up a piece of pork belly. His hand hovered near Sasuke’s face. “Wanna try some, teme?”

Sasuke stared at him in disbelief.

Naruto’s hand didn’t waver, his grin bigger than ever.

Then, despite his best efforts to resist his boyfriend (which usually failed), Sasuke leaned forward—and bit the piece off the chopsticks without breaking eye contact.

Yuji let out a low whistle. “Damn.”

Soon enough the ramen was gone but Naruto and Yuji were still as enthusiastic and energetic as ever.

“Bro,” Yuji said, leaning back on his hands. “You ever eat something so good it makes you wanna die and go to heaven just to thank God?”

Naruto burst out laughing, clapping Yuji on the shoulder. “Yeah! Finally someone gets it. You’re like… the ramen soulmate I never knew I needed!”

“I thought I was your ramen soulmate,” Sasuke muttered.

Yuji and Naruto were already off on a tangent about different broth types—miso, tonkotsu, shoyu—laughing like long-lost twins. Meanwhile, on the other side of the table, Sasuke looked like he was calculating the exact number of seconds it would take to flip the table and walk out dramatically.

Megumi wasn’t far behind him. He watched Naruto wave his arms around, nearly smacking Sasuke in the face for the third time. Then he glanced at Yuji—who was grinning, leaning in close, talking with that stupidly charming enthusiasm.

“Should we be concerned?” Megumi asked dryly, sipping his water.

Sasuke didn’t answer. He just glared at Yuji, getting increasingly annoyed at the attention he was receiving from his blonde idiot.

“…Do you want to fight him or Naruto?” Megumi asked, sipping his water again.

Sasuke’s eye twitched. “Yes.”

Yuji leaned in even closer to Naruto, now comparing chakra to cursed energy with wild hand gestures and over-the-top sound effects.

Naruto lit up like a kid on Christmas morning. “Dude! That’s basically the same as Shadow Clones! Except, like, curse-y!”

“You get it!” Yuji beamed back at him.

“I swear to god,” Megumi said, standing up.

Yuji blinked. “Where are you going?”

Megumi grabbed him by the hoodie and tugged him to sit beside him. “Nowhere. Sit. You’re being too loud.”

“You jealous?” Yuji teased, eyes bright with amusement.

“No,” Megumi deadpanned, but he refused to let go of his hoodie.

Naruto gave Sasuke a playful nudge. “You good over there, teme?”

Sasuke side-eyed him. “You’re flirting with another guy right in front of me.”

“Jealousy is not a good look on you,” Naruto smirked, but his tone was warm.

“I’m not jealous,” Sasuke lied.

Naruto leaned in and whispered, “I’ll make you miso ramen later. Just us.”

Sasuke pretended to scoff, but his cheeks betrayed him with a light flush.

Meanwhile, Yuji turned to Megumi, lowering his voice and following Naruto’s suit. “You wanna go get dessert later? Just us?”

Megumi stared at him. “…Fine. But you’re paying.”

Yuji grinned. “Anything for you.”

“I hate you,” Megumi muttered, but his hand found Yuji’s under the table anyway.

Sasuke and Megumi shared one glance across the table—tired, mildly betrayed, and ready to leave.

“I liked it better when they didn’t know each other,” Megumi grumbled.

Naruto looked at Megumi and Sasuke for a few seconds. “You know, you two kinda look alike, so it’s kinda funny you’re jealous of us and not each other.” Yuji snorted.

Megumi and Sasuke turned at the same time—same sharp stare, same narrowed eyes, same silent what the hell energy.

Yuji blinked. “Oh my god. Wait. Wait.” He pointed dramatically. “It’s like looking into an angrier mirror.”

“I’m not that moody,” Megumi muttered.

“Speak for yourself,” Sasuke said.

Naruto grinned, clearly loving this. “You’re both all broody and mysterious. Same hair, same vibe, same refusal to admit you’re soft.”

Yuji nodded enthusiastically. “Honestly? If you switched outfits, I might not even notice.”

Megumi made a sound of disgust. “Don’t lump me in with him.”

Sasuke raised a brow. “Right back at you.”

But now Naruto was squinting, a glint of mischief in his eyes. “Wait. What if I kissed both of you? Would it feel the same?”

Megumi immediately turned to Yuji, horrified. “Tell him to shut up.”

Yuji shrugged. “It’s a valid question.”

Sasuke crossed his arms. “Guess you’ll never know.”

Naruto just laughed, unfazed. “Relax, teme. I’d know it was you.”

Sasuke clenched his jaw. “Would you?”

On the other side, Megumi glared at Yuji. “You really think we look alike?”

Yuji raised his hands. “Not… exactly—you’re more like, edgy cool. He’s more—”

“Broody war criminal?” Megumi offered flatly.

“I was gonna say ‘guy who thinks he’s better than everyone but deep down is insecure,’ but that works too,” Yuji said, grinning. “No offense bro!”

Naruto placed a hand on Sasuke’s arm, trying to calm him before he murdered Yuji.

Megumi huffed. “You’re seriously not helping.”

Yuji leaned in close to Megumi. “I like your version of brooding better, if it helps.”

It didn’t help.

Especially not when Megumi glanced back and saw Naruto poking Sasuke’s cheek and saying something about “how cute your scowl is when you’re mad.”

“Unbelievable,” Megumi muttered.

Yuji tilted his head. “You want me to do that to you Fushiguro?”

“No.”

“You’re glaring like you want to throw them both through the wall.”

Megumi didn’t deny it.

Yuji’s hand stayed on Naruto’s arm while he teased Megumi, and both Megumi and Sasuke noticed.

Naruto caught the look from them both and grinned. “Oh no. There’s two of them. We’re gonna die.”

Yuji just looked delighted. “Double the trauma, double the fun.”

Megumi and Sasuke locked eyes. The air between them was tense. Naruto whispered to Yuji, “They’re either gonna fight or kiss.”

Yuji smirked. “I’m rooting for the second one.”

Megumi didn’t look away from Sasuke, the challenge clear in his gaze. Sasuke just stared back, unflinching, like he was ready to start something.

But then Naruto, ever the distraction, was poking at Yuji’s ribs. “Bet you a hundred yen they’ll kiss before the end of the day.”

Yuji chuckled. “I’ll take that bet.”

The moment hung there for a few seconds, full of unspoken tension. And then, to everyone’s surprise, Megumi leaned back, shaking his head with a faint smirk.

“You’re both idiots,” he muttered. He stood and started walking toward the door.

Yuji blinked, watching his retreating figure. “Wait—where are you going?”

“Getting dessert,” Megumi called back, not turning around.

Sasuke’s eyes narrowed as he followed Megumi with a glance, before turning back to Naruto.

Naruto grinned mischievously. “This night’s only just begun, teme.”

And it was true—because despite everything, they all knew one thing for sure. It was going to be a long night.
