(October 1998)
Hermione breathed in deeply as she held onto the handle of the broom she was now riding. Flying to her lately had been her solace and an escape to the life she now knew.
A little over three years ago, Hermione found out her true parentage and that she was adopted and that her biological parents were Tom Riddle and Athena Rosier-Riddle.
While she knew the reasoning why she had been adopted, she felt like she needed an escape and well, that's when she decided to learn to fly and possibly play Quidditch.
Lately her life felt like it was flipped upside which was understandable.
Once finding out the truth of her parentage, she gained a few friends along the way. While her friends in Gryffindor were shocked and a little disgusted to learn that she was not indeed a muggle born but a pureblood and that her parents were supposedly not bad people; they still voiced their opinions which of course hurt Hermione.
"Hermione!" Daphne Greengrass called out which broke her from her musings and thoughts.
"Hey Daph." Hermione smiled. "Come on! We need to get down to the Slytherin Common Room." Daphne stated.
"Why is everthing alright?" Hermione wondered. "Yes. Nothing is wrong. We would just like our honorary Slytherin to join us." Daphne grinned. "Oh yeah?" Hermione smiled.
Slowing her descent, Hermione planted both feet on the ground. "Practing?" Daphne wondered.
"You could say that." Hermione shrugged. "Does Atlas know that you took his broom?" Her friend wondered.
Hermione smirked. "What he doesn't know won't hurt him,"
"He will kill you and I will not be there to save you!" Daphne sang.
"My brother won't. He loves me too much." Hermione laughed. "I'll meet you in a few. I have to put this back before he notices."
"Good luck!" Daphne said.
Before heading to the castle, Hermione quickly disillusioned herself before making her way towards the boys locker room and to her brother's locker where he stored his broom.
Just as she reached his locker, she heard someone clear their throat. 'Fuck.' She thought.
"Hermione Elizabeth Granger-Riddle, didn't your parents teach you that it's not nice to steal?" Her brother, Atlas Orion Riddle reprimanded.
Hermione sighed and she uttered a finite and a muffilato. "They did but your my brother and I was hoping I'd get a reprieve?" She grinned.
Atlas rolled his eyes. "Pray tell why little sister, that you felt the need to steal my broom?"
"Because I don't have one?" She grinned cheekily.
"You cheeky swot." Atlas grinned. "Yeah but you love me." Hermione shrugged.
"You planning on trying out for quidditch then?" Atlas asked.
"It's a possibility." Hermione called out as she was walking away.
Atlas shook his head at her. “You’ll shock the entire Gryffindor house.”
Hermione turned around, “Maybe I want too. Ever thought about that?”
“You my little sister are reckless.” Atlas rolled his eyes.
“Yeah and?” Hermione snarked.
Atlas chuckled, “That cockiness is gonna get you in trouble one day.”
“I could care less Atlas. My life is anything but normal.” Hermione said as she finally walked away and she headed to her dormitory to change.
While heading to her dormitory, she ran into Luna, Ginny and Pansy.
“Hey Mi!” Ginny called out. “Hey Gin. Hey Lu, Hey Pans.” Hermione greeted them.
“Where are you coming from?” Ginny questioned as she took in her flushed appearance.
“I was taking a walk,” Hermione lied and she hoped Ginny and the girls would believe her. Ginny hummed in response.
“Well go freshen up! I assume Daphne told you about coming to the Slytherin common room?” Pansy asked. Hermione nodded, “She did.”
“We’ll wait here for you, if you don’t take too long.” Luna said.
“Okay. I’ll only be twenty minutes.” Hermione informed them.
The girls nod.
****
Twenty minutes later, Hermione came out with her hair braided.
“Ready?” The girls ask.
“Yeah.” Hermione nods.
The four of them began to make their way down to the dungeons where they could only assume that their others friends were.
As they made their way to the Slytherin common room, they watched Pansy utter the password to enter the common room.
“Well it’s about damn time!” Blaise yelled as they walked into the room.
“Ginny! Control your boyfriend please!” Theo yelled back.
Ginny laughed, “Already? I just got here.”
“Someone’s had a little too much firewhiskey” Draco said as he rolled his eyes. “You’re the one that supplied it.” Blaise shrugged and he walked up to Ginny and he pulled her over to sit with him on the couch.
While watching her friends, Hermione could feel a certain blonde Slytherin staring at her. Turning her head, she saw Draco stealing glances at her.
“Yes Draco?” Hermione asked.
“Nothing.” Draco replied.
Refocusing her gaze onto her friends who seemed to have congregated to the couches, she noticed Theo who looked a bit bored and bummed out.
“Hey Theo..what’s wrong?”She asked him as she sat down next to him.
Theo sighed a bit dramatically. “Oh nothing.”
“I call bullshit..it’s not nothing.” She noted.
“Fine…fine. Have you seen or heard from Harry?” Theo asked her.
This question shocked her a bit. “Theo? Are you and Harry…dating?” She whispered in excitement. “Yes.” Theo nodded.
Quietly she cast a muffliato and began to talk, “Oh! I love that for you both!”
“Hush, will you?!” Theo hissed.
“You underestimate me Theo..nobody can hear us. Muffliato works wonders.” Hermione grinned.
“My my…are you sure you weren’t supposed to be in Slytherin?” Theo asked.
“Maybe? Now…I haven’t seen Harry since the Quidditch pitch.” Hermione murmured.
“Quidditch pitch?” Theo echoed.
Oh shit. Hermione thought.
“Did I say Quidditch Pitch? I mean the Gryffindor common room.” Hermione chuckled nervously.
“No ma’am..you said Quidditch Pitch..now why would you be out at the Quidditch Pitch?” Theo asked her softly.
Hermione sighed, “Fine but you have to promise to not say anything.”
“Deal.” Theo nodded.
“I was flying and I was using Atlas’ broom.” She rushed out.
“I thought you—”
“Didn't like to fly? Yeah that changed three years ago.” Hermione sighed.
“That’s when you found out about your parents right?” Theo asked.
“Yeah…although I knew before then because of my brother but we just..” Hermione trailed off. “Yeah I get it..so what does this have to do with Quidditch?” Theo asked.
“You’re looking at the Gryffindors newest chaser.”
“Oh fuck yeah!” Theo shouted and Hermione was grateful for the silencing charm she had up.
“You’re gonna tell them right?” Theo asked.
“Yeah I am.” Hermione murmured and she knew who just to start with.
A couple of hours, with the majority of their group down by the black lake, it was just Hermione and Draco who were back in their shared common room.
“What’s bothering you, hm?”Draco asked her.
“Nothing I promise.”
Draco propped himself up on his elbows. “Hey…you don’t have to hide from me.”
“Fine..so as you know my life has been nothing crazy and I am just making it crazier.” Hermione began.
“Pretty girl, what do you mean?”
“I um…joined the Gryffindor Quidditch team. You are looking at the newest chaser for them.” She finished.
She waited for his response.
“Holy shit pretty girl…since when did you like playing and when did you start flying?” Draco asked in shock.
“I started flying around the time I found out about my parents and who I was supposed to be. Flying became my safe space and my place where my problems disappear.”
“Fucking shit pretty girl. You never cease to amaze me. You do know that during the games we will play each other, I won’t go easy on you?” Draco grinned.
“Never wanted you to.” Hermione said as she kissed him.
“This means I might cheer for you when I don’t play.”
Hermione began to worry, “You don’t think people will talk?”
“Let them fucking talk. I’m supporting my girlfriend and if they don’t like it..fuck them.”
After telling Draco about joining the Quidditch team, it was easier for Hermione to tell her friends. They were of course shocked but extremely happy for Hermione since they knew that this is what she wanted.
“So Quidditch, huh? Finally decided to join us huh?” Her brother teased.
“Shut up Atlas, I’m on the Gryffindor team and who knows we might destroy Slytherin.”
“Doubtful sis.” Atlas grinned.

The days leading up to the first quidditch game, were a bit nerve wracking for Hermione. While she was ready for her debut on the pitch, she didn’t know how everyone was going to react.
Breathing in deeply, she made her way towards the locker room where Ginny and a few of her teammates were. “Hey girly, you ready?” Ginny asked her.
“Yeah..yeah I am.” Hermione stated calmy. “It’s okay to be nervous. I was when I played my first game.” Ginny reassured her.
“Yeah but you grew up around the sport and I did not.” Hermione says.
Ginny shook her head. “Lets go kick some Ravenclaw arse. Just follow my lead and we got this in the bag.”
A few moments later, Harry and the rest of the team walked in. “Alright! Not that this introduction is really necessary, but before we do go and slaugther Ravenclaw, I want to introduce our newest Chaser, Hermione Granger-Riddle!” Harry beamed proudly. The entire Gryffindor Quidditch team welcomed Hermione quickly.
“Wait why does your jersey say Granger? I mean your last name is Granger-Riddle?” Miles Davis asks.
“Granger-Riddle doesn’t exactly fit, does it?” Hermione retorted.
“You right.” Miles nods.
“And now! Here is your Gryffindor Quidditch team!” Luna Lovegood announced.
One by one, the Gryffindor team headed out to the pitch. “Ready Mi?” Harry asked her.
“Yeah I’m ready.” Hermione nods and both of them exited them the pitch together.
“And here comes Harry Potter, the Gryffindor Seeker! And with him, is their new Chaser, Hermione Granger!” Luna cheered.
At this announcement, the stadium erupted into murmurs and shock. Luna then deterred and announced that the game would begin.
Soon Madame Hooch came onto the pitch and cast a sonorus. “Welcome to the first match season! Today we have Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw! Now I want a clean game today!: Madame Hooch announced and she releasedd the Snitch.
“Here we go folks! The snitch has been released and the game has begun!”
As Hermione began to manuver her way around the pitch and as she caught the Quaffle and passed it to Ginny, she could hear her friends yelling and cheering for her.
For a while the game kept going back and forth with each chaser (Hermione included) kept scoring as each seeker tried to find the Golden Snitch.
“Let’s go Granger!” Draco cheered.
Hermione smirked a bit and she glided by the Slytherin stand and she caught sight of what Draco was wearing and it shock her.
Draco Malfoy was wearing Gryffindor colors and it was for her.
Refocusing her attention back to the game, she let out breath of relief when Harry caught the Golden Snitch. “Yes!” Hermione cheered as she balanced on her broom.
Flying low to the ground, Hermione planted her feet on the ground and she ran to Harry.
“Oh my god..that was exhilarating!!” Hermione beamed. “Now you like the rush, hm? It feels amazing right?” Harry asked her.
“Yeah it is. Hey Harry? Don’t keep Theo waiting, yeah?” Hermione murmurs as his head snapped up at the mention of Theo.
“You know?”
“I do. And don’t hurt him, ‘kay? I care about him.” Hermione murmured softly, “And I care about you too. You both are important to me.”
“I won’t. Tell Malfoy I’ll kill him if he hurts you.” Harry says. “Yes, I saw the jersey he was wearing huh?”
Hermione nods, “Yeah I do.”
“He better treat you good.” Harry says.
“He does.” Draco says as he walked up to them.
Harry shook his head at Draco, “Merlin, it’s weird seeing you in those colors.”
Draco chuckled, “Get used to it Potter. As long as Slytherin isn’t playing, I’m gonna cheer for my girl.” He pulled Hermione close and place a kiss on the side of her head.
“I like that.” Hermione sighed.
“What?”
“Being yours.” She murmured.
