    Seth startles, head snapping up like he half-forgot Dean was even there. There’s a wild, uncertain look in his eyes—like a dog that’s been kicked too many times, still braced for the blow. Dean’s seen that look in a mirror too many times to not know it well.

    He lifts a hand, palm open. An invitation. An anchor. “C’mere.”
