Work Text:
Another boring class. What subject is it supposed to be anyway – history or politics?
Jin yawned and slumped onto his desk. He didn’t understand why they learned all of this when they were never going to use it, not that he would say that to Ishimaru. He didn’t want to offend him or receive extra homework as punishment.
At the front, their teacher was rambling about something that seemed of great importance to him. Jin knew this because of the way his voice seemed to tremble with excitement as he talked.
Who even decided to make him a teacher…no, he probably enthusiastically volunteered for the position.
He knew everyone else was just as bored as he was. The twins were snickering in the corner of the room, looking at something underneath their desks. A prank they were planning for later, perhaps? Jin hoped it wasn't going to involve him.
Beside him, Kaito was taking a nap. At least, Jin thought he was. He hadn't moved for around fifteen minutes.
Yuki was at least looking in Ishimaru's direction, but seemed lost in his thoughts. Jin knew the burly teen was either self-meditating or imagining himself punching through several thick concrete blocks. It really could go either way with him.
The only people who seemed as though they were paying attention were the two lone girls in the classroom.
Ren was sitting attentively at the front of the room, nodding every time Ishimaru paused to breathe. This seemed to only fuel his enthusiasm.
Front and centre in the classroom was Daiya, or rather ‘Class Rep Daiya’. She had her hair tied up in a high ponytail, her blouse buttoned up to the top, and her skirt was well below her knees. The selling point of her good girl ensemble was the red class representative sash she wore around her arm.
Whenever the teacher asked a question, her hand shot up straight into the air. She spoke in a clear and succinct manner whilst sitting upright in her chair.
Her answers, however, were completely wrong. Despite this, the teacher seemed to shrug them off and continue without so much as a single admonishment.
If this had been a classroom in the outside world, this favoritism would have been picked up immediately.
Man, she’s getting a lot of answers wrong today, what’s up with that?
It was then that realisation struck Jin.
Every time Daiya gave a response, the sides of her mouth twitched. She was also focusing her gaze directly into Ishimaru’s eyes, practically replicas of her own, as if she was waiting for a particular reaction.
She was purposely saying incorrect answers.
Any ordinary troublemaker would do something disruptive, like throwing pencils or swearing, but she was pulling a smarter, more nefarious tactic. After all, Daiya wasn't doing anything wrong, she was just being a smartass.
When Ishimaru had his back turned, Daiya glanced over at Jin and gave him a cheeky wink. He sank behind his desk, his face turning a shade of red.
The sooner class was over, the better.
~~~
Daiya finished unbuttoning the top of her blouse and sighed. She hated hanging around the cafeteria. There were always people sticking their noses where they weren't needed.
"What do ya mean you couldn't get the music room?" She hissed to the twins. "You both practically have unlimited access to it, don't you?"
"Only if our parents are there - the room is locked if it's not being used," Sid replied.
"Never really understood why, though," Joey added.
She snarled and slammed her hand down on the dining area table. All eyes focused on them. Daiya curled her hand into a fist and waited for everyone to turn their attention away before lowering her voice.
"How the hell are we supposed to have a private club meeting if we don't have a private meeting room?!"
The twins both shrugged, and Daiya held in a frustrated growl.
"Do you two even care about what we're doing?"
The two glanced at each other before smiling at her and speaking in unison.
"Of course we care, babe!"
Daiya rolled her eyes and stood up.
"It's so hard to take you asses seriously sometimes." She muttered, turning to leave.
"Hey, wait..."
Joey stood up and started following her. He grabbed her wrist and turned her around.
"I just wish you would just be serious for once in your life."
"I am serious! You know we both want this as much as you do." Joey said, placing his hands on her waist. "I know how important this is to you."
She glanced up at him and furrowed her brow. Smirking back at her, he squeezed her waist.
"What can we do to help?" He asked.
"We need to find a room," Daiya murmured, "and we need more recruits."
"Got it boss, we'll find some more cannon fodder for your jail break!" Sid said, giving her a wink, "And yeah, you both need to get yourselves a room."
Seconds later, Sid was cradling his injured head.
“And you need to learn when to shut your stupid mouth – there are people all around us.”
"God, I love it when you get rough." Sid chuckled, tearing up in pain.
"I'll have what he's having!" Joey added, with an excited look in his eyes.
"Hey, let me have this!”
Daiya let out a puff of air. This wasn’t going to be easy, but if she’d learned anything from her dad’s inane history classes, it was that revolutions were never a cake walk.
~~~
Daiya's already shitty day was only growing progressively shittier.
Her search for a room led to interrogations by a few of the adults. Even when asking politely, which was something she only liked to do as a last resort, they refused. She'd never noticed how strangely they acted about this before.
Why don’t they want us by ourselves in a room? Did they think were were gonna to have a massive underage orgy or something?
"I'm sorry Daiya, the library is off limits unless you're there with an adult," Kyoko said, waving as Haruhi and Naomi ran giggling down the hall.
"An adult? You do know I'm only a few years off that, right?" Daiya retorted, placing her hands on her hips.
"Rules are rules."
"Yeah, and who made these rules, and why? What's the point of them?!"
Kyoko gave her a suspicious look.
"Aren't you supposed to be in your room?" She asked.
Daiya gritted her teeth. It seems as though her dad had left that little memo with everyone.
"Don't change the subject! Do these rules exist for a reason, or is it just some dumb stuff that was made up to prevent us from having rights?”
Kyoko paused, considering her next words as she locked the exit to the library.
"It's just the way things are here. You'll understand one day. Now you'd best go back to your room, or else I suspect you'll be in even more trouble than you are right now."
Daiya fumed as she watched Kyoko walk down the hall. The one thing she hated more than unnecessary rules was being treated like a child.
~~~
Giggling, Daiya kicked her feet against the side of her bed.
“What’s so funny?” Kiyotaka asked her.
“Oh, nothing – a silly joke one of the guys told me. Um, can you run that by me again? I wasn’t really listening.”
“We’re having a meeting tonight – in the hall. Adults only.”
Daiya held her breath to prevent herself from screaming out loud. This was it. The time was finally right to act.
“Well, have fun with that!” she said, jumping to her feet, “I’m going to the library to catch up on my studies!”
A hand clamped down onto her shoulder.
"Not so fast, young lady – you’re grounded, remember?”
She spun around and opened her eyes wide in feigned surprise.
"Oh my gosh, I’m grounded? I completely forgot!"
Taka frowned.
“I find that very hard to believe.”
Daiya’s face fell in an expression of feigned hurt.
"I’m serious! It just completely slipped my mind. I wish you would believe me for once.”
She watched as her Dad's serious expression began to falter.
"W-well, I am disappointed that you forgot, but I'm pleased to hear you want to catch up on studying! At this rate, you'll be top of the class with Ren soon!"
Daiya bit down on her tongue to prevent herself from letting out a snarky insult.
Fan-fucking-tactic.
"I have to leave now, so just make sure you stay in here, okay?"
"Okay, sure."
He petted her on the head, a pleased smile on his face.
"This change in attitude has been most welcome. Don't be surprised if you start getting more adult responsibilities soon."
Fan-FUCKING-tastic.
"Thanks, Daddy~!"
Daiya gave him a cheerful wave as he left. When he shut the door, she flopped down onto her bed, groaning loudly. Closing her eyes, she imagined herself riding along a highway, the wind blowing through her black hair.
The beast of a motorcycle she was riding roared so loudly that it was all she could hear. But there was another noise too, something that sounded hollow and rhythmic – knocking.
She stood up, straightened her skirt and opened the door.
Standing before her was a shirtless teenage boy with a mess of curly, brown hair. He gave her a wide smile and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Hey, um, this isn’t a bad time, is it?”
"Why would it be?" Daiya asked, raising her eyebrows.
Kaito let out a small, embarrassed chuckle.
"Ah, how do I put this...you smell like Joey's deodorant."
Fuck.
Daiya lifted the front of her blouse and sniffed it. It was there – very faint, but it was there. She hoped her father hadn't caught that.
"Nice catch, magic man, but there’s no way in hell Dad would let Joey anywhere near my room. Can’t even study within five feet of each other. This place is a living nightmare.”
"Oh, that's what I needed to talk to you about!" Kaito said, "I totally forgot that we had a presentation for History class tomorrow, and I haven't even decided what I'm saying yet! That means I can't go to the rooftop garden like I usually do tonight, well, not until much later anyway. I need you to go up to up there for me. Don't worry about locks or anything, the door is always open. Anyway, once you're up there..."
Kaito’s words faded away as she absorbed this new information. Daiya had no idea that the rooftop door was open at night. Was it always open at night? Excited thoughts twisted around her head. They may have finally found their meeting place!
"Ah, Daiya? You there?"
She snapped out of her thoughts and glanced at Kaito.
"Yeah man, no problem!”
He gave her a thankful smile.
"Thanks a bunch."
Before Daiya could ask exactly what is was that Kaito wanted her to do up there, he was already rushing back to his room. That didn't bother her too much though.
She had some boys to round up.
~~~
Heading to one of the quieter walkways, she found the twins standing with Yuki. He looked as though he would rather be anywhere else.
"What, that's all you could get?" Daiya said, gesturing to the towering mass of muscle.
"Give us a break! He’s all we could find!” Sid retorted.
“Yeah – Ren’s with all the little kids, so we didn’t bother asking any of them, and Lolita is locked up in her room working on some sort of art installation. We couldn't find Kaito anywhere.”
"He's finishing a presentation for class tomorrow. I guess we can invite him next time."
The twins gave Daiya an alarmed look.
"There's a presentation tomorrow?"
She gave a dismissive shrug.
"Yeah, I forgot too, it's no big deal. Anyways, what about Jin? You couldn't find him?"
"Jin's already in bed."
“Great,” Daiya muttered, “This is a fantastic start.”
Yuki folded his arms.
"If you want me to leave, I'd be more than happy to." He grunted.
"No, no, you could be a useful asset to us, Mr. Muscle Man. We're probably going to need you to punch shit later."
Yuki's expression darkened. Behind him, the twins were shaking their heads at Daiya, silently pleading for her to shut her mouth.
"And that, my friend, was a little joke!" Daiya laughed. "You gotta stop being so serious all the time! Now come on, we're going up!"
The four of them ascended the stairs.
"Kaito told me that the door to the rooftop is always left open," Daiya explained as they walked. "That bastard's been going up there this entire time, and I never knew about it!"
When they reached the rooftop garden, Daiya took in a deep breath and sighed.
"Perfect! While all those adults are at that meeting, we have the whole place to ourselves!"
She laughed happily and danced around on the spot, shouting at the top of her lungs.
"I announce that the first meeting of The Crazy Diamond Rebellion Club has officially begun!"
"What sort of name is that!?" The twins complained.
"Hey! It's my club, I'm the President, so I should get to name it!" Daiya replied, frowning.
"No way! We should at least have a vote!" Sid said.
Daiya glared at Joey, who put his hands up and gave her an apologetic smirk.
"I'm afraid I'm gonna have to agree with Sid on this one, babe."
She rolled her eyes and turned to Yuki.
"What do you think, Hulk smash? Do you think the club name is shit too?"
He snorted in response and wandered over to a patch of flowers.
"So it's going to be like that, is it?" She growled, scanning her gaze over her tiny club. "Ugh, why are men so fucking annoying?!"
"Hey, who's there?!"
Daiya froze and glanced at the three boys. They all had looks of shock and surprise on their faces. She recalled what Kaito had been saying to her, and she let out an audible moan.
"Oh fuck me..."
"I thought you said we were alone up here?" Joey hissed at her.
Of course Kaito wouldn't come up here alone, fucking hell Daiya. Fuck, fuck, fuckity fuck, fuuuuuck...
"I thought so too, but Kaito-"
"Guys, we've got to fucking leg it!" Sid yelped, interrupting her.
It was too little, too late. From around the corner came a tired, slightly irritated-looking man. There were twigs and leaves stuck in his gigantic mess of hair.
"Why are you all yelling so loudly? You woke me up!"
Yasuhiro opened his eyes and looked at the four teenagers. After exchanging a few confused looks, he let out an alarmed cry.
"H-hey, you aren't supposed to be here!"
"Well, technically we can be here if there's an adult present," Daiya added quickly.
Hiro chuckled and folded his arms.
"Ah, that's where you're wrong, kiddo – I've been told by your Dad that you’re grounded.”
“Well, you aren’t supposed to be here either!” Daiya replied quickly, “You have that meeting tonight, remember?”
“The meeting? The...oh! Oh! Oh no – forgot about the meeting!”
“You better go before you’re late!”
He began sprinting towards the exit only to stop in his tracks, spin around and point an accusatory finger at her.
“Hey, wait a minute! Nice try – get outta here, all of you.”
Shit shit, think Daiya, think...
"Wow, really?" Daiya muttered, a look of disgust on her face. "So you're saying I'm not allowed to come up and visit my mother's grave?"
Yasuhiro gave her an annoyed look.
"Don't lie! I heard the four of you talking about a club of some sort. You all need to leave!"
Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck
She couldn't believe it. Their plan, their perfectly devised plan, was going to be ruined by this complete idiot.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. She was going to have to do it. Out of all the goddamned people in this school she was going to do it to, why did it have to be him?! She only hoped Joey would forgive her, because she certainly wasn't going to forgive herself.
Daiya let out a sad sigh and approached a confused-looking Yasuhiro. When she was a few feet away from him, she played with the hem of her blouse.
"You know, I've always thought you were, like, the coolest of the adults here."
He gave her a suspicious look. She needed to up the ante a little.
"I mean it! You're just so chill about everything. Not to mention you're literally the wisest person here. We really want to have somewhere private we can meet and hang out, just us teenagers. You understand, right?"
He smiled as she said this, but shook his head.
"Ha, nice try Daiya, but your Dad said this is exactly what you would do. I do appreciate the compliments, but you all need to go back to your rooms."
Daiya's grin dropped a little. She was going to have to go there – in front of her friends, no less.
Thank fuck Kaito isn't here to listen in on this.
"I did think you were going to say something like that. I really didn't want to do this, but I guess I have no choice now."
She grabbed the fold of her blouse with one hand and glared at the man in front of her. Yasuhiro blinked a few times.
"Ah, Daiya what are you..."
There was a loud ripping noise as Daiya tore her blouse apart. Buttons went flying onto the ground below. She heard audible gasps coming from the twins behind her. She thought she even heard Yuki emit a choked noise.
In front of her, Hiro was completely freaking out. He'd taken a few steps back, his eyes were wide with shock and horror. After a few seconds of fumbling, he covered his face with his hands.
"D-Daiya, w-whatever it is you're doing, you need to stop!”
After a few bewildered seconds, Daiya began to laugh.
"O-oh my fucking god. Did you actually think I was trying to seduce you or something? You're fucking disgusting!"
She looked over at her friends.
"Did you guys hear that? He thought I was hitting on him!"
Yasuhiro began shaking his head wildly.
"I didn't say that! Stop putting words into my mouth!"
Daiya smirked. Now to really put this plan into fruition. She glanced over at Yuki. He looked as though he would rather be anywhere else.
"Hey muscles, I need you to do me a favour. Come over here and punch me as hard as you can in the arm."
He continued staring at her and said nothing.
"Did you hear me, shit for brains? Come over here and punch me!"
That got his attention, and he stomped over to her. Daiya couldn't help but feel intimidated, but she stood her ground and looked him straight in the eyes.
"Geez, took you long enough. Now are you gonna hit me or what, dumbass-"
Before she could finish her sentence, Yuki lifted a fist and sent it directly into the centre of Daiya's left arm. She let out a pained scream and clutched her injured arm.
"Holy fucking shit!" She growled, tearing up a little.
The twins were already running over, furious expressions on their faces as they jumped on Yuki.
"Hey you asshole, I'm gonna kill you!"
Daiya wasn't sure if it was Sid or Joey who said that, but she appreciated their concern either way. She lifted her hand away and examined the welt. It was about the size of a baseball, maybe bigger, and it was already starting to turn a deep red colour.
"Ah...are you alright, Daiya? Why did you want a Yuki to hit you?"
Yasuhiro sounded incredibly bewildered by the entire situation playing out in front of him. Daiya just gave him a sweet smile and tilted her head.
"Oh, believe me, I'm better than fine."
She placed her finger to her chin in a mocking act of thought.
"You can predict the future, can't you? Tell me, what do you think I'm going to do once I'm finished here?"
Yasuhiro stared at her blankly.
"I know that you're a bit dense, but this is just fucking- okay, imagine this scenario – wait, no, you know what? I'm feeling generous, so I'll just fucking show it to you. Joey! Sid!"
The twins clambered off Yuki and raced over to her.
"Okay, we're going to act out a scene for Yasuhiro so he understands just exactly what is going to happen. Joey, I want you to be my Dad and Sid, I want you to be Mondo, okay?"
"Hey, wait, why does Sid get to be Mondo?" Joey complained.
Daiya growled loudly and stamped her foot.
"It doesn't matter who gets to be who! Just play the role!"
Daiya walked away from the boys and cleared her throat. A few seconds her face crumpled with sadness. She blinked her eyes, which had become watery with tears. She staggered over to the two teenagers and sobbed.
"Daddy! Help me!"
She ran into Joey's arms and cried against his shoulder.
"Oh-ah-DAIYA, WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOU?!" Joey began shouting.
"Oh Daddy, it was so scary! I was just going to the kitchen to get some water because my pitcher had run out and-and Mr. Hagakure was there! He stood in the doorway, and he said he wouldn't let me leave unless I did exactly what he wanted!"
Sid and Joey both wore horrified expressions as they realised what Daiya was doing. They both glanced at Hagakure. The colour was quickly draining from his face.
“WHAT HAPPENED NEXT, MY LOVELY, PERFECT DAUGHTER?”
Daiya sniffled and wiped her nose with the back of her hand.
"When I said no, he grabbed my arm and ripped my blouse! I managed to escape, but I'm so scared he's going to come back and try to hurt me again!"
"Wow, I'm not even entirely in character and I want to beat the shit out of you," Sid said, sounding impressed.
"I AM COMPLETELY STILL IN CHARACTER AND I LITERALLY WANT TO MURDER YOU," Joey screamed.
Yasuhiro took a step back as Daiya approached him, her sad face quickly transforming into a sweet smile again.
"Th-that's a complete lie! I would never do that!" Yasuhiro exclaimed, distraught. "There's no way they would believe that!"
"Really? Who do you think they're going to believe—a tall and very obviously sexually frustrated adult man, or me, a sweet and innocent teenage girl?"
Smirking, Daiya glanced down at her nails.
"I mean, we could just avoid this whole issue entirely if you, you know, just leave and never tell another soul we were here?"
Yasuhiro's distressed look suddenly changed into a dark expression.
"Man, Ren was right about you. You are a horrible person."
A ball of red-hot anger curdled in her stomach, and Daiya let out a dry chuckle.
"Of course she said that. Tell me, did she tell that to you before or after you used her as a cum dumpster?"
The entire rooftop went silent. Even the twins were speechless at that remark.
Yasuhiro said nothing. Closing his eyes, he began walking until he paused by Daiya's side. He spoke to her in a low voice.
"One day Daiya, you're gonna be screaming for help and no one’ll be there to back you up.”
The molten fury rose into her throat. She swallowed it down before speaking through her teeth.
"If you don't leave in ten seconds, not only am I going to tell Dad and Mondo that you did this to me..."
She gestured to her torn clothes and bruised arm.
"...I'm also going to explain to them, in excruciating detail, all the disgusting, unspeakable acts you forced a poor, defenceless teenage girl to perform on you."
Hiro stiffened up, and she let out a chuckle.
"I don't think anyone's going to believe you then, are they? Especially not Kaito..."
Clenching his hands into fists, Yasuhiro pushed past Daiya before she could finish speaking. He paused as he reached the exit, as if he wanted to say something else. In the end, he just sighed soundlessly and left.
The four teenagers stood in complete silence, three of them still in shock over the events they had just witnessed.
"W-wow, uh, Daiya..." Sid murmured.
"Y-yeah, that was..." Joey whispered.
"That was fucked up, Daiya," Yuki growled, giving her a hate filled glare.
Daiya skipped over to Yuki and gave him a warm smile.
"If you tell anyone what happened here, Kaito, any of the adults...I can just as easily accuse you. After all, you did hit me really hard...and I have witnesses to back me up!"
She gestured to the twins. After a pregnant pause, they both nodded in agreement.
"Come on, Yuki, it's not worth it." The twins said in unison.
Despite his entire body shaking, Yuki said nothing. He focused his gaze away onto the garden before them.
"Good boy!" Daiya said, her red eyes twinkling with excitement, “it's time to get started on our agenda – getting the fuck out of Hope's Peak Academy."
