Title: "Soft Chaos"

Stu was a lot. Like, a lot a lot. He was a whirlwind of energy — half-formed thoughts thrown around like confetti, bouncing from topic to topic so fast your brain could barely keep up.

But somehow... it worked.

Maybe it was because even when he was spinning a mile a minute, he always noticed you. Really noticed you.

Today was no different.

You were curled up on the couch, hoodie too big, hands tucked into the sleeves. It had been a rough day — dysphoria gnawing at your mind like an angry little dog — and even though you hadn’t said anything, Stu picked up on it immediately.

“Hey, hey hey hey,” he said, sliding onto the couch beside you in a messy sprawl of limbs. “What’s up, my dude? You’re doing that thing where you get all...”

He made a vague hand motion, like he was trying to scoop something invisible out of the air.

“...tiny. Like, emotionally tiny.”

You shrugged, not really trusting yourself to say much.

Stu’s face crumpled for half a second — and then he was there, all warmth and ridiculousness, tugging you sideways until your head landed against his chest.

“You’re my favorite boy in the whole entire freakin' multiverse, you know that, right?” he mumbled into your hair, voice serious underneath the chaos.

He squished his arms around you tighter, like you might float away if he didn’t hold on hard enough.

Best dude. Certified Cool Guy. Like, if there was a trophy for being the raddest, most handsome badass? You’d have, like... seventy. No — eighty. Minimum.”

You laughed a little, even though your chest still ached.

Stu lit up instantly at the sound. “There he is! There’s my dude!” he said, grinning so wide it looked like it hurt.

He started babbling — about how if anyone ever made you feel bad, he’d fight them (even if it was a giraffe, he’d figure it out), how he thought you had “main character energy,” how your voice was the coolest sound in the world, like gravel and sunshine all mixed together.

It was ridiculous.

It was Stu.

And somehow, it made the heavy feeling in your chest a little lighter.

You closed your eyes, letting him talk — about nothing and everything — while he played absentmindedly with the strings of your hoodie.

He kept slipping in little "love you, dudes" and "you're the coolest" like he couldn't help it.

And maybe he couldn’t.

Maybe that was just how Stu Macher loved — loudly, messily, with his whole heart, no holding back.

And for the first time all day, you felt okay.

You felt... enough.

You felt loved.
