   Summary

   It was rare, seeing Ye Zun in a moment of vulnerability; even asleep, the man had the uncanny ability to appear completely aware of his surroundings, as if expecting to wake up to a knife pressed against his throat, or something worse.

   And yet, when he drifted off on Zhao Yunlan’s couch to the sound of running water and corny commercials, he looked almost peaceful. Unguarded.

   It did things to Zhao Yunlan’s heart. Easily ignorable things, or at least Zhao Yunlan liked to pretend so.

   Until the catastrophe, of course.
