The Fall (That never happened)

Tech’s eyes flew wide open.

Tech, was… sitting… on a ledge? Or so it looked like from where he was at the very moment, not really as sure as that, as his vision was all kinds of blurry.

Tech could feel there being several fractures all over his body, if the hurting all over was any indication of the same. But he needed a scanner to be sure. Right now, he had no idea whether his equipment had survived with him.

As to how he had gotten there, on this position no less… Sitting on a, ledge… Well the last thing Tech remembered was falling, fast. To his death…

Plan 99…

Tech having committed the ultimate sacrifice. For his family. Plummeting to his death so the others would survive. No qualms about it.

And yet here Tech was, on a ledge of a steep mountain, he assumed, but yeah it looked liked that for sure. He was bleeding and hurting but, being very much alive.

Tech quickly made a visual scan of his equipment. His goggles were gone, so his vision was bad, them likely having broken off during the fall as had his helmet as well. Thankfully Tech still had his pack and attached to it, was a med-kit.

Digging out his trusted datapad still intact, thankfully, Tech finally managed to scan himself.

Despite the broken parts on his body, Tech managed to assess his current situation and give himself the needed first-aid with what little he had to work with at the moment.

But Tech was nothing if not resilient and resourceful.

As despite the setback, the not dying sort of, Tech was already thinking of ways to save himself despite the visible direness of his current situation. Scanning the immediate area around him, getting all the information he needed for his next move.

Tech could try to boost his comms device to contact his team. That was, if they were still on the planet. Or then… someone else? The Empire? Not a pleasant thought, but Tech kept on thinking through, despite the splicing headache.

As it was now, there was no way for Tech to make descent from where he was and in the condition he was in. The drop simply too steep and he was too far up fobs climb down according to the scanner.

But he needed to try something. As right now Tech was more determined to live than ever, having gotten a second lease in life and all. Something certainly not to be wasted.

Despite having a cramped spot to stay in, the small cave like structure giving some shelter for him at the moment. But Tech was running low on rations, food, water and medicine.

Tech worked thorough his discomfort despite it all. With the comms device boosted, Tech took a long breath before trying it out, opening the channel for anyone on the open frequency.

“To anyone out there on this frequency,” Tech paused, staring at the device as if wishing for someone to be there on the other end, “this is  trooper CT-9902. Calling out for any and all assistance.”

Tech waited for a long spell, hearing only static on the line.

Repeating his message diligently, Tech listened to any and all responses. But only silence was his response.

“Well, guess it was a long shot after all.”

Tech talked to himself. And then, after some thinking, decided to rest for a moment and then figure out his next options. Never willing to give up hope.

Tech, having nodded off after some time of waiting and thinking, the pain taking over and sleep the best option. Only waking up to the annoying crackling sound…

“What the…???”

Tech realising it was his comms device causing the ruckus.

Picking it up, Tech opened the channel on his end.

“This is CT-9902. Is there anyone on this line?”

“Tech? Is that really you?” The voice on the other ended sounded all too familiar. Too familiar Tech thinking he was dreaming.

“Comm… Cody?”

“Heh? Yeah is me. Been a while.”

“You can say that again.” Tech almost smiled. Almost.

“Are you in some kind of trouble, Trooper?”

“You can say that.” Tech did not want to reveal too much, as it was. The last he had heard Cody was with the Empire.

“I’m pinpointing your location now. Hang in there Trooper.! We’ll be there soon.” Cody’s voice chuckled.

“We?”

“Heh yeah, it’s a long story, but it’s me and Obi-Wan… so yeah…”

Tech was surprised to hear this. A Jedi survivor and Cody with him? But did not mention it. Rather feeling more comfortable of the fact.

“Well then guess I’ll see you soon.”

“Soon then.”

The comms cut off, Tech sighing with relief. He was going to be alright with his rescue being none  other than the Marshal Commander Cody and General Obi-Wan Kenobi. A surprise if any!

Tech smiled suddenly, feeling a sense of relief in both the two of them being alive as well as was he himself. The Force most certainly working in mysterious ways!
