Work Text:

Wifies held onto the potion and watched Parrot hesitantly disappear off to the back door and into the cold snowstorm outside.

He turned, gripping the invisibility potion in his hand tightly but not so tight that it was to be smashed in his hands. No.

Instead he walked outside standing boldly, Ash was there as predicted. The diamond player too stood beside him.

“you’ve made your decision?” Ash questioned peering behind Wifies to search for Parrot, “I see you’ve made the right choice.”. He chuckled grimly, looking down at Wifies’s hold on the potion.

“Well..go ahead.” Ash told him, backing off like the coward he was. Wifies didn’t say a word.

For Parrot…all of this is for Parrot. I’ll find my way back to you..i promise.

He silently thought…

The bottle cracked in his grip, glass shattering onto his palm and fingers letting the potion drip and hiss around him engulfing him whole.

Wifies watched as his view on his body and clothes turned imperceptible. He felt the potion rake up his neck to his face and with drips of blood dripping down from the glass shards in his hand onto the snow.

Wifies looked up to see Ash scoff, turning to the diamond player. “Set his stasis. And have him meet in my office after for his first mission, I’d like to assign him personally”

The diamond player nodded and soon Ash disappeared just as fast as he came with a fishing rod casted to the air.

He turned to look at the diamond trim, he’d started walking a direction. And with no other choice, he follows as they traverse the snowy woods..

He was led to spawn, seeing the massive obsidian build that had finished being built. His eyes lingered over a hill crest where he and Parrot had stood just days before.

He wondered silently if Parrot had made it back home..

The diamond trim led him through a gate, where he turned suddenly and splashed invis onto the both of them again.

Wifies felt his hands sting when the potion had impacted him. But the pain of the cuts was beaten by the pain of leaving Parrots side even though knowing deep down he would do it again if it meant Parrots safety could be guaranteed.

He walked down multiple alleyways till he reached a bubbling stream, the water seemed to lead somewhere but he had no clue where that was headed nor could he go to find out.

The diamond trim threw him an enderpearl. Seems like this is where his life is getting thrown out the window..

Oh Parrot.. the things I do for you, stay safe my friend.

Wifies clutched the pearl and threw it down the stream watching as it resurfaced and floated away with the current.

He turned back to see the diamond player throwing another pearl at him and a sign that said “Follow me, youre needed by Ash now”.

It took them awhile till they reached what seemed to be a pearl canon, a gold trim was there flicking levers whilst talking with the diamond player with signs that Wifies was told to stay away from.

He looked up at the large contraption, pistons and redstone machinery of all kind that towered into the ceiling and into the sky.

The diamond trim nudged him into the slot looking up indicating he had to throw his pearl.

He nodded acknowledging the order bitterly and threw the pearl above watching it disappear ontop of an array of pistons and machinery alike moving and pushing and finally there was the sound of an explosion and he knew his pearl was thrown.

The diamond player left a sign in front of him that read out “Go immediately to Ash’s castle. That’s your mission.”

He didn’t have time to respond as the world around him shifted and he appeared in the gates of mafia city.

There was a gold trim standing there with a book and quill in his hands, he closed it shut upon seeing Wifies’s invisible form.

Wifies walked past him, he could feel the eyes of the gold trim on his back as he equipped his elytra and flew off.

Looking down he saw multiple even hundreds of soldiers, from noob to diamond all scattered around the place.

Some even flying in the air with their elytras scanning the sky for intruders or attackers.

Parrot will save you…all of you.. was all that Wifies could think of. He flew till he reached Ash’s garden. The last time he and Parrot had been here was during the time when him, Theo, and Parrot had planned to kill Ash..without any actual plans and there they got attacked by Clown.

Even back then the only thing he could worry about besides his own survival, was Parrot’s.

He walked on the stone covered path, feeling every step was like pulling the string that threaded his and Parrot’s heart together. It had always been the two of them since Spoke’s little secret hunt, and even then Wifies wouldn’t think twice if it was with Parrot.

If it was for Parrot.

When he threw the spyglass..he knew that deep down. Parrot would come come back for him.

But now. He begged that Parrot was to just..survive.

When he reached the mouth of the castle, a diamond trim was already waiting for him.

Follow me” the sign said.

Wifies did.

They passed numerous hallways and up a long spiral staircase that tired his legs out.

God why on earth didn’t they install elevators instead…

After that Wifies was led through a set of large double doors that pushed open to reveal a large room.

The smell of tangy copper and iron hit Wifies upon entering, it wasn’t like he wasn’t used to it it just wasn’t everyday that he smelled the scent of blood this strong.

Looking down he noticed the floor had dried blood etched into the obsidian floors. Through the invisibility, his eyes narrowed at the sight. Heart thumping faster on what was to come.

He looked up seeing a no trim player be escorted out right after him. The person had his head down low walking away glancing at Wifies momentarily before leaving.

The door was shut and Wifies simply stood there awaiting his fate.

He silently wondered where Parrot is now..

Could he be in district 13? Planning with the others? He hoped he was. He hoped that Parrot would atleast have some sort of hope. After all he didn’t do this for nothing..right?

The door opened and in came 3 more diamond trims and Wifies watched suspiciously when they stopped on either side of Wifies.

He looked at them before looking back at the door.

After waiting for a long while, the doors finally opened to Ash’s stern face walking in the room with a copper trim beside him.

“wait outside. I’ll call you back.” He ordered the copper trim who nodded and ran off to close the door as they left.

He snickered upon seeing Wifies. And Wifies felt the fear shroud him once again, reminding himself that this was all for Parrot.

“After all that running..wasnt it ever tiring for you?” Ash begun his stupid monologue, walking over to where he stood, tipping his invisible chin up to face him.

Wifies reeled back, pushing away from Ash’s touch. Ash tsked, turning to face his back to Wifies dramatically “But now youre here because you chose the right choice..or did you do it because of him?”

Wifies’s stomach churned at the sight of him, Ash turned to face him once more. “You take me for a fool? You think I didn’t know of your little scheme?” he scoffed walking a step closer.

His boot thudding loudly on the ground smirking towards Wifies’s invisible form. “The two of you are like a small tiny pair of..of..bugs. So dependent on the other. Heh..all I needed to do was corner you two and give you a difficult decision!”

He sneered down at Wifies from where he stood, one hand behind him and the other flailing around as he spoke.

“And so you serve yourself to me on a silver platter in hopes that the other will be at my mercy. But know this. Wifies. I don’t do mercy.”

His fingers snapped and Wifies flinched, eyes darting towards the diamond trim that marched towards the door and opened it.

A couple of silent seconds passed, all with Ash grinning at the dim light that illuminated the hallway outside.

For a second Wifies’s heart jumped out of its chest, beating painfully quick in his chest. His eyes were staring and waiting for what Ash had planned.

What was it? No..he cant have already….thats not right..right? Parrot is strong..he’s smart he wont get caught that easily..

And although Wifies can tell himself these things, a large iron trolley was pushed in with a box that was draped in a large purple cloth.

Ash clapped happily, “so Wifies..you want to join the mafia correct? Here’s your first mission. And I even made it easier for you!” he grinned manically.

The copper trimmed player pulled the purple fabric and the box opened itself to none other than Parrot.

Wifies stared in shock, his body trembled underneath him, struggling to hold his weight to the fear and nausea that grew inside him.

Parrot was coughing out blood, his feathers were wet and it seemed like he had been waterboarded inside the box as water had spilled everywhere around them. Bloody water that had feathers in them.

He was blindfolded and cuts and bruises littered his body from head to toe. The wings on his back were seemingly clipped, feathers torn everywhere, and both his feet and his hands were tied behind his back.

“Parrot-“ Wifies instinctively wanted to run up to him to help him, get him up, patch him of all his wounds, tell him it’ll be okay-

But he was held by the two guards on either side, he struggled against their hold knowing they were stronger than him but he still pushed through and ended up getting pinned to the floor.

“NO-“

He watched in front of him, Parrot struggling to move, breathing painfully shallow and he was still coughing blood. Blood was on the water. Blood was on the floor. His feathers were covered in it.

Ash laughed and laughed from the corner where he stood. He stepped on top of the water, pushing Parrots body with the edge of his boot to nudge him to lay on his back with his hands still behind his back.

A pained chirp came out of him as his wings splayed wide under him. He turned to face Wifies, “so..your mission.”

He threw a sword, landing with a loud clang that made both Wifies and Parrot flinch immediately.

“Either you do this or he takes your place.” Ash stated, stepping off of Parrot. His chest rising and falling rapidly, all of this whilst he was blindfolded and tied like this.

Wifies looked down at the sword feeling the diamond players hoist him up in a single movement of Ash’s hands.

The sword was pushed to his grasp, he clutched it weakly. Looking behind it at Parrot’s state.

He couldn’t do it.

He musnt do it.

What was good for Parrot here. What was good for himself here?!

There was no good outcome out of this. Its either Parrot dies in his hands or he dies and let Parrot suffer the fate of being in the mafia…

..

..but he’ll live.

In that moment Wifies knew what must be done. He looked at Ash and threw the sword onto the water. Shaking his head and stepping back.

Ash eyed him with a sneer, “oh you never had a choice, hah..haha” he started laughing.

Why had he started laughing?

“you see Wifies I learned something about you today. I learned something…something I heard from a little birdie far away..” Ash stood and threw a totem at the copper trim who ran over and pushed it seemingly at Parrots hands..?

Wifies looked at him confusedly.

“you think you win by throwing the sword? I lied. Take him to the table.”

Within the next moment he was being shoved and forced, strapped onto a table with metal cuffs on all of his limbs and neck. He didn’t even realize his invis had ran out.

He didn’t see the way that Parrot was struggling in his binds, his blindfold now used as a muffle to cover his screams at them, his pleads as he watches what Ash had said he’d to him when he was captured.

Parrot was forced to his knees, totem weakly gripped in hand as he could only sit and watch as Ash sits and a turtle helmet wearing iron trim and an orange leather cap wearing copper trim appeared and hesitantly got close to the table.

Ash walked close to Parrot in his disheveled state. “I’m simply making it easier for him don’t take it the wrong way” he smiled as he yanked the totem off Parrots hands.

Wifies was turned off and turned on his back where bolts and metals began getting unscrewed, program rewritten, he was being rewired.

Parrot sat and kneeled in horror, a part of him still pushing with all his last strength to get to him. To carry him and fly away from here. He was being held back by his restraints by the guards that stood behind him.

Wifies awoke in a strange place, the sound of running water clearly being heard from one side of the room.

He looked around and the voice of a man he didn’t recognize came up to him. He paid no mind to the other invisible entities surrounding him.

He didn’t question why he was on a table or why was there running water.

“you have an mission, kill him.”

He was handed a sword, netherite, enchanted, gleamed in the dim light of the room. He turned to face the man who stared up onto him.

He looked meek, weak, that should be good right? Then why did he feel the need to hesitate?.

He walked forward, he had a mission. An order to fulfill.

The sword laid heavily in his hands as he brought the sword high in the air infront of the man. Bird? He had wings now that Wifies examined him.

His head hurt. His heart ached for some reason.

And for a moment he stood there, arms raised poised to swing and deal the finishing blow.

There was a small tug in the back of his head screaming for him to stop?.

It didn’t matter what he wanted.

He had a mission to finish.

SHHK!

SNAP!

Wifies blinked rapidly, his body screaming, his head was pulsing, his chest ached. “ha-AGH!”. He gasped, stumbling forward to catch the cold body of..of….

Parrot.

Parrot was in his hands.

There was a sword through his chest.

He was limp.

He was limp.

He was dead.

He is dead.

Parrot.

Parrot.

Parrot.

Parrot.

Parrot.

Parrot.

PARROT.

PARROT!” Wifies screamed, clutching his body close, hands wavering around confused on what to do.

His ears were ringing, his head was screaming. The weight was heavy on his hands, his lap, his soul.

“PARROT STAY WITH ME…PARROT…parrot…parrot please..parrot come on stay with me I know you can please stay with me parrot stay please-”

Wifies clutched him close to his chest as if his presence could push him back to life.

Somehow.

Some way…

Wifies stayed there muttering silent pleads and prayers, his eyes dark and wide in horror. The sword was still in his chest. The blood was seeping to his shirt and the water was getting in the soles of his shoes.

But all of that compared to nothing to the way Parrot was heavy in his arms. Heavy and limp and so goddamn cold.

There was a figure towering above him, he looked to the side to see Ash’s stern face grow to a wide grin.

“say your goodbyes. This will be the last time you ever see him.”

Wifies didn’t bother meeting Ash’s face anymore. His hands clutched Parrot tightly, pulling him so close to his chest that the sword handle was pushing against his stomach.

He shut his eyes clinging close to Parrot’s wet feathers. His wings splayed weakly behind him with no soul left in them to even fold them.

SNAP!
