Chapter Text
It had happened like this, Dr Robotnik had been gifted a pair of tickets to a local theme park. (They weren’t actually a gift, no one ever gifted him anything). They were actually a payment he’d received for a simple side job he’d completed off the books, but that was neither here nor there.
The point was Robotnik had two tickets he was absolutely not going to use. Theme parks were loud, smelly places filled with annoying happy families.
The kind of place he’d longed to visit as a lonely orphan child.
Of course a distinguished doctor like himself was far too old to be visiting that kind of place now.
He’d contemplated simply throwing the tickets away, but that had seemed like a waste.
Offering them to Agent Stone had seemed like the obvious solution. A nice reward for all his loyal Agent’s hard work.
Robotnik offers the tickets to Stone casually, his eyes focused upon the work on his computer screen.
“I just so happen to have two tickets for Chao Land that need to be used this weekend…” He starts, aware that Stone might already have plans in place. Hell, he didn’t even know if his agent even liked theme parks.
“I'd love to go with you, Doctor!” Agent Stone replied, interrupting excitedly, before the doctor could even finish his sentence.
Dr Robotnik stops his typing and turns his head to stare at Agent Stone. He had intended for Stone to take both tickets. Not to attend the park with him.
He opens his mouth intending to set Stone straight.
But the look on Stone’s face stops him.
Stone’s face is often far too expressive for an agent, but today he looks like a child at the end of a Christmas movie, his dark eyes overjoyed, and grin stretched from ear to ear.
The sight does something strange to Ivo’s heart.
“Is this Saturday good for you, Doctor?” Agent Stone asks. “I hear they have a firework show on Saturdays.”
Saturday is usually when Ivo works on his secret plans to take over the world, but he could make an exception, just this once. For Stone.
“Yes, that works.” He agrees, with a hum.
“Good.” Stone’s smile brightens even more. “I’ll prepare our itinerary. I think casual attire and light lunch would be best. I’ll make sandwiches.”
Robotnik finds himself nodding in agreement. “It’s a date then.” He replies, picking up his fresh latte and taking a sip.
Stone nods, his cheeks turning pink beneath his beard, as he watches Robotnik’s lips kiss the fine porcelain of the cup.
Robotnik notes but thinks nothing of his Agent’s flush, assuming that Stone is merely excited for Saturday.
He doesn’t yet realise Stone has taken his words literally.
