[BEING REWRITTEN] The Lost Guardians

Summary:

[BEING REWRITTEN BUT WILL TAKE A WHILE]

It was the early 2000s, and trouble was brewing. The ever sought-after Guardians had all gone missing, and nobody knew what happened. But the Guardians always had a plan- 18 teenagers- 18 students at the same high school. They all had something to fulfill. They didn’t tell each other. Most of them didn’t even know it themselves.

Notes:

Cannot write summaries for the life of me but here we are! I will be updating this and Hybrids Underground very slowly due to school and I have absolutely no idea where I was going with this idea but here we are

Chapter 1: The Last Resort

Chapter Text

The Guardians had to meet. It was too late to stop it. $”?&@ called the meeting, gathering the other 17 Guardians around him, waiting for him to start.
”Thank you all for coming to the meeting- we have much to talk about.”
“That we do, $”?&@, but where should we start?”
“Well, we all know about the Last Resort Measure”
At this, the gathered figures stiffened. $”?&@ elaborated. “It’s too late to stop this completely, but we all know what’s coming. We can’t keep running from them- they’ll get here eventually.”
Every Guardian knew who They were. The Watchers. Dangerous beings who fed off of violence and hate. The Watchers wanted to kill the Guardians. The Guardians had to stop this from happening- but they only had one last option.
“But isn’t it dangerous? What if one of us can’t follow through? What if something happens like what happened with €%#&? No offense, of course.”
“Oh none taken- if that happens then I know there’s people to help, and they can adapt with time. Like how I did.” €%#&’s response was hushed, almost masked but still fully genuine.
“So, it’s final? We carry through with it?” One of the Guardians asked, receiving a nod from $”?&@.
“Yes. We’ll go through with The Last Resort.”
What is The Last Resort, you ask? Well- it’s practically death for the current Guardians. Each Guardian would choose a child to receive their abilities, and the child would remain unaware of this until they come of age. However, the children don’t have any sort of guide unless they receive one of the Guardian Familiars, depending on what Guardian chooses them.
“Well then,” A Guardian said, standing. “I suppose this is my final bow to you all.” And with a blaze of light and fire, the Guardian disappeared, the only thing reminiscent of them ever existing was a chair- and even that was slowly dissipating into nothingness- Their energy slowly fading from the place they once called a home.
Slowly, more Guardians followed suit- passing on their abilities to a child unbeknownst to anyone in the group. Each one’s energy disappearing with them. Until the last two Guardians were left.
“$”?&@… I don’t know what to do.” €%#& whispered, nervous. He was the newest Guardian, after his predecessor had passed on his powers before he could be killed. $”?&@ was nervous too, so he simply grabbed €%#&’s hand and together, disappeared in two showers of feathers- some golden and some blood red.
