Red & White

Summary:

The die had already been cast.

Work Text:

The Knight rode his steed afore The Queen's carriage through her docile forest. An irksome cough troubled his closed helmet.

"Death to all crowns!" pronounced the bowman from the underbrush.

The Knight dove in front of the arrow. The impact threw him from his saddle.

Unmindful of danger, The Queen left the safety of her carriage to attend to her fallen Knight.

He did not stir.

When she removed his helmet, red and white petals cascaded out from inside it to the forest floor.

"O, thou told me not," she cried.

He roused and said, "Thy hand was elsewise betrothed."
