Work Text:
Gabe sat in the parking lot in the most ugliest beat up rental car known to angel kind.
He was trying not to think about it as he sat scoping out the building.
But he was well past the amount of time he could stay in one place.
Had been here over an hour.
At first trying to make sure this was the right place and then convince himself not to go running.
Let someone else do this.
Unfortunately this seemed like it was the correct place.
The directions had led here
The signage was clear and correct.
And yet it just didn't seem right to him.
In Gabe's opinion the building was way too plain and simple to be housing one of Earth's greatest lawyers.
Or to be housing anyone worthy of challenging heaven.
And yet the name Jessica Moore was printed in plain easy to read print on all the signs.
Sighing, Gabe prepared to see what possible threat he could face when his phone went off with a melodical ring.
Knowing not to do his normal move of ignoring it, he reached over to the passenger seat to search for it.
He had to dig through the candy wrappers that were clustered in mass there.
The mess was his fault of course.
He was on Earth after all.
And amazingly on his own for once. Meaning he was going to take full advantage of this so called “Business Trip”.
A business trip that if it went well would mean there would be more in the future.
The more trips he made would eventually lead to Gabe being able to make a run for it.
Honestly there were lots of places he wanted to check out here on Earth.
Mostly places having to deal with food.
For years he wanted to check out Kali's place. But that ship had sailed.
Then there were his siblings. They were all out there somewhere.
He knew in theory how to get in contact with them. Kali had left a coded message to a PO box. It had an address that would lead him to one of his siblings.
Which one he didn't know.
He had hoped it was Castiel. He had wondered often if Castiel would be waiting for him. Or had he given up on him too.
In his heart Gabe felt that despite all the years that had passed, that his little brother would still be waiting.
Still be ready to receive his family, his brothers if they fell.
That was if they ever tried.
Finally finding his phone Gabe unlocked it to read the text, “Don't be late.”
As if he would be. He scoffed as he typed a “wouldn't dream of it” back.
Lucy was getting to be a real pain in the ass. All bite and bitterness with Mikey's sudden disappearance. Lucifer had lost all of his sense of humor and charm.
Always micro-managing. Barking orders. And being an all-around dick.
It was no fun.
The whole family had gotten worse, if possible since Michael disappeared.
But in Gabe's opinion he didn't think it was anything to worry about.
After all, he didn't go alone. He had taken his favorite Omega with him.
Gabe couldn't remember their name, only that he was handsome for a demon. And he could see why his brother was ass over tits for him
So they were probably doing some kind of private vacation together. Especially considering that they had just babed.
Even if that child had been taken away.
Another niece or nephew shipped off before he could even see their face, Gabe thought bitterly as he exited the car.
As he stepped away Gabe tried not to look at it. The car was an older model. Currently gray but once was black. Paint covered in scratches and dented.
And so not him.
If he could he would have used some of his grace to at least change the color. Definitely the model too.
As well as his clothes. The outfit picked for him was sad and baggy that was doing Gabe no favors.
He had no clue how long he would be stuck on Earth for this first round of snooping.
Which meant following within the boundaries of his mother's guidelines.
Naomi had planned for just about everything.
When he was to sleep, eat, how much time he had to do this task.
But most of the time was blocked out for this.
The tracking down of the Earthbound Archangel.
Even thinking about it sounded crazy.
There had never been an Archangel born on Earth before.
Ever!!!
In fact there hadn't been one born outside their bloodline since the originals.
After those guys all others had popped up from Gabe's family line.
Until now.
Naomi called it a miracle.
Gabe thought it was suspicious.
He would have thought it a hoax if he hadn't felt it himself.
But when the fledgling had come into power he had felt it.
Him, Lucy, Mikey and Raf.
All of their wings had flared and glowed blue. All while their eyes had shone with grace.
For Gabe it had been terrifying as well as his first time.
He was the youngest Archangel.
The last one born.
And it had scared him to have his body and grace respond without his control.
Despite that it was calming to find out what had happened.
To know there was another one after so long.
It meant the new possibility of what they could all do together.
Especially when Mikey got back.
It might be what they needed to dethrone Naomi and Chuck.
That thought made him giddy.
But somehow he was able to hold himself together and continue to the door.
Pausing at the curb of the parking lot, Gabe looked both ways before getting ready to cross the lane in front of the building.
Just as he made to move this beast of a black car pulled up. It was blaring some kind of music, rock if Gabe wasn't mistaken.
The driver seemed to be in his own world as he laid on the horn, while glaring at the entrance.
Then he went back to jamming.
Gabe at first thought the driver was some kind of asshole Alpha.
After all, this was prime Alpha behavior. And this was an Omega rights lawyer. Normal Alphas would probably not respect this space.
But on closer inspection and to Gabe's surprise he realized it was an Omega.
He honestly wanted to applaud but instead settled on giving the driver a thumbs up as he walked by.
The driver gave him a nod but there was no smile.
And those green eyes watched and continued to track Gabe's movements with suspicion.
This was a look of someone who was distrusting and betrayed by others in the past.
What was fascinating was when the man flashed his eyes at Gabe in warning.
Showing Gabe that deep rich blackness of his true form.
He was a demon.
It made Gabe's hackles rise. Made him want to call his grace out and smite the creature.
He was so very close to flaring all six of his wings in retaliation. Let this asshole know that Gabe wasn't some pushover.
But .. and here he groaned inwardly at this.
The whole reason he was here right now was to spy.
And he couldn't do that if he was emotional.
Afterall he was the calm, quick thinking brother. He was excellent at acting and disguises.
Gabe had already used his grace to cover all traces of his true form. And he was more than sure that there was no one currently on Earth was powerful enough to see through it.
It would take another Archangel or someone of the demon royal line to know Gabe wasn't human. Which would help since his character was supposed to be, a bipolar recently abandoned human Omega. Assured that he was safe Gabe drew inspiration from his cover story.
So in response to the other's display he tucked in on himself.
He made sure to look away and to the ground. And for good measure he added walking into a bush.
The stumble allowed Gabe to do a panic embarrassed look around. Which got him a chance to see that the other Omega was indeed sorry for his actions.
So not an asshole Gabe thought pleasingly.
The driver apparently thought better of what he had done going as far as to lower the volume of his music.
When Gabe had stumbled out of the bushes, the other had shot him a comforting smile.
Gabe gave him a small shy smile back before hustling off towards the door.
That was definitely one of his best performances to date.
He was totally going to get more sweets when he got back to the hotel because he earned it.
There had been a place he saw that he particularly wanted to try.
He was day dreaming of that now as he reached for the door. Only to be genuinely surprised when it seemed to suddenly open on its own.
There was a voice above him that called out, “All right. I'll see you guys later.”
And then there was nothing but a broad plaid covered chest filling his vision and plowing into him.
There was brief contact of skin and muscle.
Of a nose full of the most delicious smell of molten caramel and fireball candies before Gabe bounced off the man.
Then he was falling.
Only he never hit the ground.
That same voice had called out, “Oh shit!!!”
And then there was pressure to Gabe's arm and lower back.
“I got you. Let's get you straightened out.” The voice had stated.
Gabe wished he could focus but how could he be when he had felt that current of electricity rushed through him.
He couldn't help but stare because the other was perfect.
This Angel.
From his wings all out, well groomed and covered in protective sigils.
Hawk wings if Gabe wasn't mistaken. Meaning that this guy had the Archangel's gene in him.
A small part of him knew his mother would definitely approve just on that alone.
And as for the rest of him.
Yummy.
Long brown locks that curled slightly at the end.
Broad shoulders and that thick waist.
Enchanting Green eyes.
And to top it off he was tall.
Like tall tall.
Taller than normal tall.
Gabe had to swallow at the thoughts that poured into his mind.
He wanted nothing more than to climb this angel and ride him like there was no tomorrow.
They were destined to be great together.
After all they had had the Charge.
His mother had paraded Alphas in front of him since he was a babe. All for the hopes of something like this.
All touching his hands hoping for the smallest of sparks.
Hundreds of angels and nothing.
So many that Naomi had given up and went a different route. Deciding instead to go back to the old method of looking at genetics as the main matchmaking factor.
And to be honest Gabriel had given up too.
But here he was.
His Alpha.
And the idiot didn't even seem to have noticed. He was so busy trying to brush Gabe off. Asking if he was ok. And if he needed anything.
A perfect gentleman Gabe thought.
To his forefather he just wanted to corrupt this guy.
Take him apart.
Or Heaven forbid, let the Alpha take him apart.
The bolt of burning liquid heat that throbbed to life within his core was truly unexpected.
And the moan that flowed out of his lips was down right disgraceful.
Gabe would have been embarrassed if Gigantor could figure out what was happening.
The giant of an angel seemed to now think Gabe was in distress.
He stepped away from Gabe, hands raised in plain sight. Talking as softly as he could, “Wah sorry, I'm….. let me get you some help.”
Cracking the door open the Angel called, “Hey Donna!! You got a distressed Omega out here!”
And not even two seconds later two women rushed out the door.
The Omega rushed over wrapping Gabe in a blanket “It's ok sweetheart!!” She said sweetly and calmingly.
The other woman was a Beta. She was tall and imposed all of her height as she approached the Alpha. “You know better young man.” She fussed right in the Alpha’s face.
Then she reached up grabbing him by the ear, “Now get out of here while we fix this mess!”
Deciding to just go with it Gabe started babbling and giving a little sniffle of unhappiness.
“I promise your in a good place. This is a great team. And they will take great care of you!!! The Alpha shouted back to Gabe as the Beta continued to herd him away to the door.
Choosing to be dramatic Gabe let out a wail of distress that sent the Alpha high tailing it to the black muscle car.
“Dude what the hell did you do Samantha???” The Omega shouted as the Alpha folded into the car.
“Not now. Just drive!!” The Alpha shouted back.
The Omega said something but it was lost as the engine revved up and peeled out of the parking lot.
The outcome had Gabe chuckling with himself. Especially when the sweet Omega led him inside with the promises of cookies and hot chocolate.
It wasn't until Gabe was drinking his second cup that he realized he made a mistake.
He didn't have a name or a way to find his potential mate.
Worse still, said possible mate was already mated to another.
The wave of melancholy that came over him put him in the right mood for his meeting with Jessica. Made it easier to convey his fake cover story.
If only he knew that it was going to get worse.
….
Gabriel sat in his hotel room moping.
He was horribly put off.
He didn't even want food.
And worse still he didn't even want sex that was how upset he was.
And he loved sex.
Rarely turned it down.
All because he had gotten more information.
He now knew his compatible mate's name.
Sam.
Knew he was a part time lawyer at the firm. And better still that he wasn't mated to the brash Omega in the cool car.
No, that was apparently his brother.
After Gabe had explained what had happened in the parking lot, Jessica had apologized. And then explained that the Alpha had been there to talk over an upcoming case they had.
“He's actually a big teddy bear that one. And he should have been gone but his brother was running late to pick him up.” She had said as she laid out her forms and paperwork.
Gabe remembered asking how she and Sam ended up working together.
“We went to the same school. Met the first day and hit it off. Got mated shortly after graduation. And been together happily ever since.” She answered brightly.
Unaware of Gabe's angst.
Now laying here, Gabe was aware of two things.
One he had lost his shot before he had a chance to even shoot it.
Two that he would indeed get to see Sam again. Seeing as he helped Jessica out.
There was no doubt in Gabe's mind that he wouldn't be working on such a big case.
A case that now had an official meeting date.
Gabe had received the notice upon arriving back to his room. His mother had sent it via cupid with a little bottled grace to go with it.
He would have about three weeks to prepare for the big meeting.
Which he supposed was enough.
Sighing Gabe decided that today was wasted.
Turning on the TV he let it play as he swallowed down his daily heat suppression pill and as well as a sleeping pill too.
Then he curled into bed.
Tomorrow he would plan for his upcoming meeting.
Tonight he would let himself dream of a what if.
With a snap of his fingers the room changed.
Instead of a luxury hotel it was a cozy little house.
The place had been Gabe's relaxing haven for as long as he could remember.
He had been crafting it slowly and with care since he created it as a child.
Making things like the spare room overlook a dazzling view of the ocean.
How the Master bedroom glass doors looked out at an always rainy forest clearing.
The little kitchen was always full of baked goods and delicious snacks.
And the living room had ridiculously squishy chairs and a comfy couch. The walls had movie posters and a huge flat screen TV.
But Gabe's favorite things were all the jars of different candies and candles that were scattered all over the premises.
Not knowing how to adjust for Sam, Gabe simply made the furniture bigger.
He also added a couple of more sturdy chairs. Some blurry photos, a couple of bookcases full of books and some plaid decor.
When he was done he took it in and was very pleased with the results.
It seemed right.
With another snap of his fingers the fire came to life in the fireplace. As well as the electrical and other odd background noises of the house.
A few seconds later Sam walked into the room dressed in an impressive suit. “Honey I'm home.” He said as he loosened his tie with one hand while he set down his briefcase on the floor.
Then when he was done he turned to look around the room.
Upon seeing Gabriel laid out on the couch he took a few strides with those long legs to end up next to him. Wings flared in worry.
Kneeling down Sam reached out cupping Gabe's face in his big hands.
“Hey.” Gabe said before being pulled into a kiss.
“Hey yourself.” Sam would say after he pulled back.
“You ok?” He would ask while giving gabe big puppy eyes.
And Gabe would say yes.
Then one of those hands would drift down Gabe's form. Stopping on his midsection on the bump there.
“And the kid? How are they?” Sam would ask with a voice full of concern.
And here Gabriel had to put on the breaks.
Stop the scene and call an indefinite time out.
Because he had never wanted babes.
Not when he knew what his mother would and could do to them.
Not with how broken his family was.
But …
There was falling.
He hadn't wanted to do so before.
Not truly.
Not when he didn't have anywhere to go.
But now if he fell would he be doing it for this Alpha?
Or would it be for himself?
Better still, what would become of Sam's mate Jessica?
Would they just all live in the same place? Or would it be something like they all lived in separate houses and Sam would float in-between the two?
Gabe supposed for now he would just push it all to the back of his mind.
There was no use wondering about things that probably wouldn't happen, he thought, as the sleeping pills kicked in.
The End
