Work Text:
Lin Ling was so done with everything, he stood on the rooftop gazing down at the city life below him, it was beautiful if he was being honest, the dancing lights looked like stars in the night and the people gave a satisfying hum of hurried yelps and busy conversations. He hated it. He hated the city, he hated how it tricked him with its beauty into leaving everything behind to pursue his dreams, to lose all connections to his friends and family to succeed and then… to have it all ripped away from him in one swoop. It shattered him, not only the dreams of becoming a hero he harbored all his childhood but also his emotional stability. It made him realize that in his endless chase for greatness he lost anything that kept him grounded to keep living. He realized too late that the ties he once tried to keep strong had faltered in the matter of the last months, he failed to notice how everything fell apart, how his boss grew more and more annoyed with him, he had it coming for a while. Lin ling knew that, yet knowledge didn't equal acceptance.
He stood on the rooftop, the small amount of belongings he held in his arms were the last anchor keeping him from jumping off, he looked at what the box had to offer, he sat on the edge and started looking, a calculator he never used, a binder of files that were important enough to keep, he laughed a little seeing how none of these things were of use anymore, none of them would find themselves back in the one thing that made their existence justified, and all that due to Lin Lings incompetence… he stripped these soulless objects of their purpose, made them trash not worth keeping. And it was all his fault. He smiled weekly knowing he was digging himself deeper into his despair but who was he to tell himself off, really he was on a rooftop because he was fired, how much more dramatic can you get?
He looked around seeing proof of his existence on every building, every billboard. He saw himself in the heroes whose image he had so masterfully crafted. It made him sick, every bit of what was known and thought of the heroes from their ads was him, it wasn't Nice or Xiao Yueqing, it was all him. And not a single soul in the city would know, not a single one would even care if he jumped right here and now. He was well aware of that yet it still hurt. He felt mocked by his work, by Nice. I mean seriously he was stuck doing Nice ads for the past four months! He was supposed to be in the Xiao Yueqing department! He sighed, it was no use complaining now, he was just so, so so tired of the white haired mans face. It wasn't ugly, far from it, if anything it was annoyingly handsome. Like he was an angel sent from the heavens just to haunt Lin Ling down until the rest of his pitiful existence.
He stood on the rooftop… and stood… and then it started turning into daylight… how long was he on this fucking rooftop anyway?? This was absurd. He sighed. He didn't even have the balls to jump off! This was truly the pinnacle of his pathetic existence, he couldn't even relieve the world of the burden he brought to it. He frowned and started to climb down the stairs of the building. Nobody paid him much attention. I mean in their place he wouldn't bat an eye either. He wasn't pretty and definitely didn't look like someone walking down from an unsuccessful suicide attempt. He just sighed and walked outside, this wasn't worth the thought.

He went back to his apartment, he had a rooftop room with dirt cheap rent but at least the view was amazing, really he didn't understand how he got the place for so cheap but he wasn't complaining. It was everything he could have ever asked for, that wasn't true but at least it was very much enough to him, it had a TV a couch that was convertible into a bed(that he always kept as a bed), a small kitchen with just a stove and a microwave and a cozy little bathroom with a bathtub shower situation and a toilet that he was pretty sure was older than him. It was nice and it was also very blue, really really blue, like really everything had a blue pattern on it, except from the TV. But he liked it, it was home to him. And as he sat on his rooftop slash balcony he realized even more in depth how lonely he was. It was really sad, really, he had tried to keep in touch but work got too much and… right work… he should probably do something about his lack thereof. He cracked open his can of beer and sighed. This was not what he wanted when he moved to the city. This was everything he didn't want actually.
He looked around and saw a star, unusually bright in the dark sky… it was getting bigger, no it was coming towards him? Wait no that, that was definitely a person- his eyes widened as he realized it was the hero he was so sick of, Nice. “Great what is he doing here…” he thought to himself as the hero descended onto the rooftop, he had seen Nice before, a few times actually, he showed up to talk about any upcoming commercials that piqued his interest enough, oddly enough from what he'd heard it was only Lin Lings commercials that summoned the graceful hero to their very ungrateful office. Nice stepped towards him and all Lin Ling could do was star dumbfounded. “Um good evening Nice?” He said as the hero stood above him, “WHAT THE HELL??” he thought while looking into the white haired man's beautiful blue eyes, deep like the ocean, bright as the sky on a warm summer day.
The hero just huffed in response “Don't ‘hello’ me! Why weren't you at the office today? I went to hear about your new commercial idea but you weren't there?” Nice asked with annoyance in his voice, it was odd, he didn't understand what the hero was talking about. Why was Nice so bothered about Lin Ling not being at the office? I mean they did talk a few times but they weren't exactly friends, just two people who somehow were in the same environment. What the hell was this guy on about!?
“What…are you talking about..?” Lin Ling watched as the man in front of him goes through twenty different expressions all showing dissatisfaction or confusion, what the hell? “I was fired that's why I wasn't there, not that its any of your business” he scoffed
“Not my business?? And what do you mean my favorite marketing guy got fired?!” Nice looked… pissed. Wow that was actually a very good look on him, his angelic facade gone just his raw emotion, he was so pretty like that, Lin Ling would never admit it to anyone but he liked how the heroes looked most when they weren't perfect, when they weren't inhuman symbols of bravery or elegance. No he liked them angry, frustrated, flawed, human. And by god was Nice beautiful in his emotional state it didn't even register in Lin Ling’s brain that he was called the favorite marketing guy. “What were you fired for anyway?”
“My newest proposal was so bad i was fired on the spot…” he sighed “I focused too much on the viewer and not you as the subject of the ad but, I was trying to make you more familiar, more with the people you know?” The hero kneeled beside him “I said that anyone could be a hero, that even someone as perfect as you could have once been ordinary, it was a strategy that would- why am i even telling you this- “ them it registered to Lin Ling, or at least it started to “wait how did you know where I lived?” He asked since it was the most important question right now.
“I asked and your manager told me, well Ex manager now” Nice looked at the brunette ith an apologetic look, “Also I don't think the idea was bad, childish sure- but not bad” Nice smiled at him, this smile was different though, his dimples showed and his eyes seemed to shine. “That's what I liked about you, you weren’t afraid to step outside the box… such a shame they fired someone with your ideas” he scooted a bit closer to Lin Ling, it wasn't obvious but he was close, really close “and a cute face too…” he smiled as the other man’s face went red in an instant. “Yeah, I have no clue why they fired you… if it was up to me” he leaned closer, Lin Lings eyes widened as he realized how close they actually were “I would have made sure that nobody else could steal you away from me” he said with a cheeky smile as he was leaning closely towards the flustered brunette, their lips were millimeters apart.
“N-nice..?” Lin Ling whispered, looking like a deer in headlights,he didn't understand what this was, he was just an average “what… what are you doing..?” He looked to the side, as if to avoid looking at the hero’s soft light pink lips that would probably feel like feathers on his own chapped ones… WHAT.
“Just… shut up okay..?” Nice huffed out, his cheeks now clothed with a rosy tint. He leaned in closer, Lin Ling could feel the ghost of the others lips on his own already “if you want to back away.. now's your chance..” Nice said or rather breathed out with heated urgency, Lin Ling however did not move away, too dazed with how the other man seemed to glow in the dark as if he were the moon itself sitting in front of him. And so without any more hesitation Nice leaned in, and whatever expectations Lin Ling had were thrown out the window, their kiss was messy, sharp. Nice was shit at kissing . It was almost sweet, Lin ling took the chance and look control of the gesture, he gently pushed so that he was the one that was on top, as much as on top existed when they were sitting next to each other anyway, and started moving his lips in a way that the kiss was actually a kiss and not just a clash of lips and teeth. He opened one of his eyes not even noticing when he closed them, Nice was read, his eyebrows were furrowed and it was clear this was the first time he had experienced physical contact of the romantic kind. He pulled away to give the other room to breathe.
Nice opened his eyes lazily as he breathed, his gasps shallow and quick, his face red. He looked lost and messy. A single kiss did this. Lin Ling was surprised, genuinely he didn't think anyone can get so flustered from a kiss but here they were, he placed his hand on the back of Nice’s neck and pulled them into another kiss, this time he climbed a bit more on top of the white haired male, it was a risky move but he didn't really care that much, he only cared about connecting his chapped lips to the soft pink ones he tasted just a moment ago. He pushed Nice down a bit breaking the kiss a few times in the process, the other man complied, more than compiled actually, he allowed himself to be lowered down completely, Lin Ling took that as an opportunity to deepen the kiss. He connected their lips once more, this time however he licked Nices lower lip, the other gasped softly allowing the brunette to deepen their exchange.
Their tongues danced together clumsily, their lips wet with hot saliva. Nice was more vocal than Lin Ling had expected him to be(not that he had ever fantasized about this) he whimpered gently into the kiss, his head leaning backwards into the concrete beneath them, the brunette followed his lips whichever way they turned, he knew that if the white haired man didn't like how the situation was going he would protest, so he wasn't worried about overstepping. He separated them but he didn't stop, instead ke kept pressing wet kisses to the hero’s neck, or wherever he could reach as the mans bodysuit had a rather high collar, it was a bit annoying but he could live with it, they were just fooling around anyway. He kissed along the hero's sharp jawline leaving burning marks on the others skin. He heard Nices gasps, they were sweet and almost rushed, Nice was clearly inexperienced but Lin Ling didn't mind showing him how everything worked…
He leaned back to look at the other man, he smiled at him. “So… why..?”
“Wh..what do you mean ‘why’?” Nice looked back with confusion on his face. He was so pretty… all red and messy. Truly a sight for sore eyes.
“I mean… why the kiss, why come here, why- everything..?” Lin Ling chuckled laying down next to Nice, letting the other man curl up at his side. “This is kind of sudden, no?”
“Lin Ling I’ve been flirting with you for months- don't tell me you seriously missed it-” he looked at lin ling with disbelief “I- I sent you flowers!”
“I thought you just liked my commercial enough to formally thank me…”
They looked at each other in silence, both not believing the other. Then Nice started to chuckle and Lin Ling started to laugh, they laughed and laughed until their bellies hurt. It was absurd!
They settled into a comfortable silence, Lin Ling stroking Nice’s hair while the latter hugged his side. They laid there for a bit before Lin Ling remembered that he had a beer open on the table right next to him, to Nice’s dismay he sat up and reached out for the can, he took it in his hand its cold metal soothing his warm skin. He brought it to his lips and took a sip, he smiled with a soft ‘haaa’ after. “Do you want some mr. Perfect?” he asked with a smile.
“Sure” the hero nodded “what brand is it?” he asked taking it from the brown haired man, he turned the can so thd logo could face him, his smile fell into an unamused expression “X? Really?” he sighed “he does anything but be a hero i swear to god” he chuckled and took a sip.
“Yeah right, he got to his spot somehow!” Linling chucked “besides if you don't want it i’ll gladly drink it alone!”
“Never said I didn't want it…” Nice smiled with an alcohol flush already dusting his cheeks “you're so pretty…” he chuckled while looking at Linling with an unparalleled love.
“Pfft are you already drunk? you didn't even dri-” he was cut off when lips connected to his own- his eyes widened for a second but he quickly kissed back- they were sitting next to each other, quite close together actually, but Nice still pushed into him, his torso twisting to be on top of the kiss. He didn't know how to kiss properly, it was messy and fueled by a passion that the hero didn't even show when fighting.
Teeth clashed against teeth, soft gasps escaped linling and an urgent press into one another made it hard to think, Nice pushed the brunette into the roof floor once again, his skin was as hot as if it were about to burst into flames, and that's how it felt. Nice grabbed onto the others hair and tugged on it softly making Linling whine, it made him want to take the man right then and there, but he didn't, i stead he continued their measy kiss. They were sloppy and loud, their breaths flowing together, the hero bit down on Linlings lower lip gently which led to their tongues intertwining soon after- Linling’s arms were wrapped around Nice’s neck, the white haired man moved to be on top of the brunette, one of his knees parting the man's thighs. They both felt as the flames of their passion engulfed them, melting them into each other piece by piece.
Their lips moved together, Nices awkward kiss no longer awkward and Linlings lips no longer dry. The hero's hand supported the arch that formed of Linlings back. Nice moaned into the kiss softly, their bodies melting into one another. Linling undid the clasps on Nices cape making the fabric fall to the ground.
“wait..” Nice gasped pulling away, his face flushed, “we should continue this… inside…” he said his speech slowing each time Linlings hand caressed the back of his neck.
“Yes… yes we should, come on” Lin ling smiled as the hero stood up picking the brunette up and carrying him bridal style inside the apartment, the door closed behind them as they shared another kiss. They both looked at each other with fire in their eyes as they lowered themselves onto the couch. Nices hand slipped under Linlings shirt caressing him, Linling gasped into the kiss. And the hero continued, his hand exploring more and more of the other's chest. Linling’s fingers danced around the zipper on the hero's back elegantly before tugging at it unzipping the costume. To his surprise there was no shirt underneath… which was understandable, and very pleasing. Linling traced the hero's spine as he became breathless due to the kiss that still went on despite the messy nature.
The white haired man gasped loudly as Linlings cold fingers touched his skin, it felt as if shards of ice were stabbing his soul but oddly enough it felt right… so so righ.
Yeah he could get used to this. He thought as they continued their heated dance becoming breathless and hot until they melted and the world became unimportant.
