Summary
Thirty-odd years after the fall of the Absolute, Easton, a Baldurian sculptor, accepts a commission to create a monument for a minor hero from the days when the cult threatened the city and the world- a woman, it is said, who knows the face of every unclaimed body from the day of the battle. Three days before the anniversary of the battle he meets with her in an attempt to better learn his subject. She agrees, with one caveat- he must add a certain figure alongside hers in his monument. In exchange, she takes him on a tour of the city, the past, and the questions he never knew to ask.
