Day one.
Galeão International Airport
Yoichi Isagi and his boyfriend, Michael Kaiser arrived in Rio de Janeiro after asking for the special permission because Yoichi’s cousin and famous Japanese setter, Tobio Kageyama, will get married with his former high school classmate and national team teammate, Shoyo Hinata.
The decision was made because this will be Shoyo’s final season in Brazil’s volleyball league so he wanted to celebrate his special day with his friends and Tobio accepted.
Isagi was excited because it’s been years since the cousins had seen each other, due to their busy schedule. It was Friday, May second 2025, the wedding will be on Sunday.
Bastard München was already champions of the Bundesliga, sadly the Internazionale Milano eliminated them from champions so they had a quiet weekend and it was easy to get the permission.
Yoichi was dealing with some insecurities because the coach didn’t put him in the starting eleven against Internazionale and Yoichi hated that because he could have done more than other players, he wasn’t feeling happy with his performance this season and, apparently, neither was his coach.
Also he noticed that Michael wasn’t happy about this event but he came either way because he asked for it.
Copacabana Beach Resort
They arrived at the hotel and paid for the taxi. In front of them was a beautiful and luxurious beachfront resort in Copacabana Beach, called Vila Nova Da Praia. The beach in front of it had white sand and beautiful turquoise waves, with palm trees and colorful umbrellas. There were lots of beach bars and street vendors and far from some bars was a beach volleyball field and the cherry on top was the loud samba music from local groups to welcome the visitors.
When they walked in the resort they headed to the reception, Kaiser caught everyone’s attention with his blonde hair with blue tips and sunglasses on, Isagi sighed a bit annoyed as his boyfriend was the center of attention, as usual.
Sadly for Kaiser, there was a more extravagant person in town, Shoyo Hinata, who was wearing a bright Hawaiian shirt and his sunglasses on his head.
“Yoichi!!! Welcome!!!” Said him all excited and hugged him “I’m so glad you made it!! I was worried your club didn’t give you permission” he laughed and hugged Hinata back.
“Shoyo!! I’m glad to see you too. It was easy, we are already finishing the season so they didn’t hesitate” he smiled “by the way he’s my boyfriend, Michael Kaiser”
“Nice to meet you Michael. Thanks for coming”
“Thank you… I couldn’t miss the cliché Instagram stunt” he said rolling his eyes.
Hinata decided to ignore it and brushed it off with a grin.
After check in they allowed the bellhops to take their suitcase to their bungalow while the couple got a tour around the hotel with Hinata as their guide.
Isagi met with his mother and father, then his aunt, Sumire Kageyama, and uncle, Oda Kageyama, hugging them and introducing Kaiser to them.
“Yocchan, I’m so proud of you, darling. You gave Japan so much joy and I hope the World Cup can be our” said Sumire, smiling.
“I hope so too, aunt. It won’t be easy but I will do my best”
“As always!! I remember when you and Tobio played together, he is so methodical while you are more adaptable” Isagi blushed a little “by the way, Shoyo, did you take them to see Tobio?”
“No, yet. We just started with the pool and bar” said Hinata.
“Take them there, after all that will be the epicenter of the next few days” she smiled.
The three boys headed to the chic open-air pavilion for the ceremony, adorned with tropical flowers, like orchids and hibiscus, and flowing white fabrics.
Inside Kageyama was sweating in the Rio heat, obsessively checking the wedding setup, muttering about tide schedules, shouting instructions here and there until he heard Hinata clear his throat, catching his attention.
Kageyama turned and realized there was Isagi, his famous football player and Japan’s golden boy cousin, and next to him Michael Kaiser, another super famous football player and also model. Now he will have to fight two monsters for attention.
The two cousins reunited with a stiff handshake, their cousin rivalry sparking when Isagi commented as a joke “what a fancy destination wedding, Tobio”
Kageyama snaps back saying “and your football ego doesn’t belong in Rio, Yocchan” The playful jab hides their mutual pressure to shine at the event, even though Isagi knew Tobio was the star with Shoyo, he couldn't help it, football was more popular worldwide than volleyball, so he might caught Shoyo and Tobio’s attention.
While this tense encounter happens, the resort manager walked in and said “There’s a potential high tide that could flood the pavilion, Mr. Kageyama” but Kageyama, who was distracted by his nerves and his rivalry with Isagi, dismisses it.
Meanwhile at the pool, a local performer’s samba show steals Kaiser and Hinata’s attention, adding more chaos to the already very chaotic energy.
After that, they dragged Kageyama out of the pavilion to have lunch by the beach, Hinata took the lead and ordered drinks for them and Brazilian food.
The Karasuno players were taking a nap and will meet them at night for a welcome party.
Even though they slept on their way to Brazil, Isagi suggested Kaiser “Micha, what about we also take a rest after lunch?”
“Sure sounds good to me, and also take a shower” said the German man.
After paying for their breakfast both couples left for their bungalows to rest.
“Micha, can you please relax? It's a wedding and it's important for me and my family”
“I will try but it's just so typical...” He sighed “you know I'm not the romantic kind of guy”
“Yes, I know but can you at least act like you enjoy something?”
“I will try” he said and walked into the bungalow and straight to the bathroom while Isagi was checking everything in the room.
They had a nice mini bar, a window facing the beach, air conditioner and a balcony to breathe in the sea breeze.
After Kaiser walked in, it was Isagi's turn then both took a quick nap to be fresh for the night party.
At sunset, Isagi and Kaiser walked in a lively beach bar with tiki torches, a barman and a waiter serving caipirinhas and feijoada.
The guests mingle as a bossa nova band plays, and the sunset paints the sky orange. It was a relaxing evening with the waves mixing with the music. In the guest lists, Kageyama and Hinata invited Daishi, Nishinoya, Asahi, Tanaka, Kiyoko, Yashi, Tsukishima, Yamagushi, Ennoshita, Sugawara and Narita. From Brazil there were some members of Hinata’s team and his beach volleyball partner. From Kageyama’s team there were some players that became friends with him and their couples. Also there were Kuro, Kenma and other former members of the Nekoma team.
At the Olympic Games Kageyama and Hinata met some of Isagi’s teammates and invited them like Bachira, Chigiri, Kunigami, Sae, Nagi and Reo so they invited them as well.
While Isagi was chatting with his friends, he was dragged by his grandmother to chat about his life in Europe and how skinny he was while Kaiser was surrounded by the Karasuno’s boisterous crew, aka Nishinoya and Tanaka, mocking their volleyball stories “that’s cute but irrelevant if you never consider them to be professionals.” Tanaka was about to jump at him to destroy his pretty was when he was stopped by Nishinoya who had learned to control his temper and Isagi wasn’t close enough to hear it but Hinata heard it and tried to unify the group with a toast.
“Guys, I’m so happy to have you here with me and Tobio, we are here to celebrate the power of love, surrounded by Brazil’s energy, which is amazing and so much fun to be surrounded by friends and families…”
But Kaiser interrupts with a self-aggrandizing speech about “what about we better just conquer the world with our power of winning is every,” this comment made Hinata enraged and was about to talk back but a group of local beach football players walked to them.
“Since you are so arrogant, care for a friendly match?” This moved not only Kaiser’s competitive spirit but the competitive cousins to jump in, turning it into a showdown.
They accepted. Isagi and Kageyama immediately took the role of captain.
“Those two…” said Tanaka to Chigiri, who was next to him.
“…are so competitive” they laughed softly and high-fives.
Kunigami and Kiyoko raised their eyebrows looking at them and Kunigami said “don’t worry, it’s a man” and she sighed in relief.
“The rules are that you have to form a team of five members…”
Nagi and Kenma said at the same time with their phones out “I’m not interested…” and walked away making Kuro and Reo roll their eyes but let them go.
“With substitutions, there will be two times of 10 minutes each, you can’t wear shoes, no strict fouls but excessive roughness won’t be allowed but the referee” they pointed to the street vendor with a whistle “lastly, since the field is shorter and the sand is a difficult field to play on, the goals can be scored from anywhere on the field” they nodded.
“Pick your players” said other beach football player.
“Ok, I want Shoyo, Daishi, Noya and Tanaka as my starting lineup and as substitute I want Sugawara, Kuro, João, Ederson and Tulio” said Kageyama smirking.
“I want Michael, Chigiri, Kunigami and Reo and as substitute I want Tsukishima, Yamagushi, Bachira, Sae and Gabriel José” they nodded and joined his team.
“Perfect. Now let’s begin. Each team will play against each other, the winner will face against us. And to be fair we will be playing in another field so both teams have the same tiredness”
“Isagi, you know it's not easy to play in the sand right?” Whispered Chigiri in his ear.
“Yes, that's why I will rotate the team every five minutes,” Chigiri smiled.
The match began and, as expected, the football players were crushing the volleyball team. The only players who looked like they could keep up with the professional football players were Shoyo and Tobio and Tanaka was a little better than the rest.
Kageyama has a nice clash with Isagi since they played all kind of sports together and Tobio was a genius so he could learn how to play quicker than others while Hinata was a talented learners but with a little bit of a genius so he was able to do crazy players with his acrobatic jumps.
Kaiser on the other hand found fun to mark Hinata and he was using his athletic body to do spectacular goals with bicycle kicks or in odd spots but Hinata used his face once or twice to stop him.
The street players were playing music to call more spectators to watch the match.
Tobio blocked some of Isagi's passes and teased him by saying “Too slow Yocchan”
And Isagi answered by stopping his own pass with a smirk and his ego ignited “keep up doing that, genius”
Isagi rotate the team sending Chigiri, Kunigami and Reo to the bench and bringing Tsuki, Sae and Bachira while Tobio did the same, sending the Karasuno team to the bench and bringing the Brazilian players.
The last five minutes were interesting because Bachira brought magic on the field while Sae brought tie passes difficult to stop. The scoreboard was 2-1 at the end of the first time.
The players drank coconut water and planned what to do while the spectators bought food and drinks for the second half.
The second half started with the same 10 players that finished the first half. Isagi had a match up with Kageyama but the setter spotted Hinata and sent a quick pass and Hinata did acrobatic jumps surpassing Tsukishima and Kaiser and scored the second goal for his team screaming “Brazil’s vibes!!!” as he danced samba and his teammates hugged him.
Kaiser rolled his eyes, running his hand into his hair “he's a monster...”
Kageyama sent to the field his taller players, Tanaka and Asahi to cover the defense.
Isagi and Kaiser moved the ball together, Kaiser started to dribble the ball past Asahi with ease, lifting it a little to keep it moving on the annoying sand. Sends a pass to Isagi and looks at him like telling him to send a high pass. Isagi understood and did it and Kaiser aimed for a second bicycle kick but was blocked by Hinata who used his body to move him, causing a collision.
“Oops...” Said Hinata with a smirk and Kaiser was in rage.
“Stay out of my way, shorty” said Kaiser and some guests gasped and Hinata just laughed.
The match intensified as the last minute approached. The teams rotated their members except Kageyama, Hinata, Kaiser and Isagi.
Kaiser failed a shot and Hinata was about to attack passing to Tanaka but tripped and the ball fell to Isagi and he shot a direct shot scoring the goal and winning.
Kageyama sighed and walked towards Yoichi and high fived him “good game, cousin. Next time I will win” Isagi laughed but nodded.
“We will see, Tobio” after a rest.
The second match began and this time the blue lockers lost but it was logical, the local players were actual beach football players.
In the end the locals invited the guys who played some drinks and the audience clapped at them.
But sadly, the lighthearted mood disappeared when the resort’s generator surges from the excessive amount of lights on, killing the bar’s lights and the pool.
This caused Kageyama to panic about the wedding’s tech.
Isagi attempts to take charge “let’s ask the supervisor to see what we can do to solve this”
“No, Yoichi. This is my problem so I will solve this… you always like to play the hero!!!” sparks their argument, escalating the scene’s chaos.
“Hero?! I’m just trying to help Tobio” said Isagi, raising his voice.
Chigiri and Nagi stood next to him and Tanaka and Asahi stood next to Kageyama and they stopped the fight.
“I think we drink enough, it’s better if we solve this in the morning” said Chigiri with his sweet voice trying to stop the fight.
Kaiser was about to step up too but Isagi nodded “Fine… princess” said Isagi to Chigiri then turned to Kaiser and said “I don’t need babysitters, Kaiser” and walked away and so did Kageyama to the other side.
Kaiser sighed and looked in shock “Yoichi…” and followed Isagi while Hinata followed Kageyama.
Ending with a dispute on the first day of their family meeting.
