Work Text:
As the week went on, Lucy was still waiting for her exam results. She felt very confident about her ability to be a Sergeant given Tim’s advice and their little study sessions.
It has been one week since she went out for drinks with Tim and even though she wanted him badly she didn’t want to get their hopes up all for her to fail the exam.
Her bubble of thoughts was soon broken by Grey’s authoritarian voice.
“I wonder what happened right now” she said to herself as she approached Greg’s office.
“Hey Sir, is everything okay?” Lucy’s eyes were filled with terror and she started biting her cheek in order to maintain herself calm.
“Officer Chen… or should I say Sergeant Chen?” Grey’s eyes lit with joy as he was waiting for Lucy’s reaction. He smiled at her not because he was her superior but because he was proud of her like she was his own daughter. Since the first day he knew he could do it and she did it after everything she’s been through.
“Sir? I’m sorry, I don’t understand.. I passed the exam?”
“You sure did, good job Lucy”
“Thank you so much oh my god” at this point her eyes were filled with tears and as Grey put her stripes on all she could think about was only one thing..
.. one person.
She didn’t spend much time at the station. Her first priority was to jump in the car and drive to his house, hoping that he was awake.
As soon as she got out of the car she fixed her hair a little bit and approached the door as her heart increased rapidly.
After a deep breath she knocked once, then twice and it didn’t take her long to knock without stopping.
“Lucy, it’s 11 pm what are you doing here?” It was Tim. With his sleepy voice and one hand rubbing his own eye. Damn he was cute.
“Hey sorry yes I know but I really needed to say you something” As soon as she got quiet it’s like Tim
understood without needing her to explain.
She passed the exam.
“Did you? like for real?”
“yes I did..” Lucy enters the house and as they got quiet the only sound was the one of Lucy’s shoes against the floor.
Words weren’t necessary, they knew. They had spent so much time together all of these months that all they needed was each other.
Tim’s hand went directly on Lucy’s hips as they went directly on the couch. Tim laid and Lucy just curled up on him like they used to do at Lucy’s apartment. Her head turned to his and she couldn’t do anything but smile.
Smile because she was happy and she did it.
Tim smiled too.
Smiled because his heart started beating again, the woman of his life was in his house, curled up on him and she wasn’t going anywhere.
Smiling because he needed to stop fighting for her, he could influence focus to work on himself, with her girlfriend on his side.
The journey was rough, full of imperfections, emotional and very difficult but at the end all they went through brought them back next
to each other.
And that’s all that matters
